Apocalypse: Modifying Everything, Building an Iron Fortress - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: The Tentacle Zombie in the Police Station, The Annihilation of the Survivors!
Near the police station, the hidden police officers, hearing the sounds of zombies gradually fading away, cautiously lifted the lid of a square garbage bin, revealing their eyes.
The oldest officer, Uncle Chen, scanned the surroundings to confirm that it was safe, then immediately climbed out of the trash bin. “Everyone, come out. The zombies have mostly been lured away. Be careful not to make too much noise, and we should be fine.”
“Pah, what a stench! If I had known we’d suffer like this, I would’ve stayed in the villa and not left with you guys,” the young man in the floral print shirt cursed as he climbed out of the trash bin, frowning.
“Stop whining. Let’s get moving,” Old Zhao shot him a glance, exchanged a look with Uncle Chen, and signaled the two bodyguards to quietly move toward the police station.
The young men and women from wealthy families, seeing this, didn’t dare say more and immediately followed. However, their movements were clearly not as practiced as the two officers and the bodyguards. The noise they made while walking was hardly any quieter than normal footsteps.
Especially after entering the police station, the sound of their steps on the tiled floor echoed even louder.
To make matters worse, two of the women were wearing high heels! The clacking of their heels on the tiles created a deafening noise in the eerie silence of the empty police station.
Fortunately, the experienced Uncle Chen noticed this immediately and had the women take off their high heels.
However, they would still remain unaware even after it was already too late.
Just moments ago, at the very instant the high heels clacked on the tiles, a zombie with eight tentacles sprouting from its back, wandering aimlessly deep within the police station, was alerted by the noise. It turned its head toward the source of the sound and began to move in that direction.
At the same time, eight other zombies, which had instinctively avoided the tentacle zombie out of fear, began following it when they noticed its movement.
Meanwhile, after having the women remove their high heels, Uncle Chen led the group, relying on his memory of the place, and after several twists and turns, they finally found the armory.
“Great! The firearms and ammunition are still plentiful. We weren’t beaten to it,” Old Zhao said with delight as they entered the small, roughly three-square-meter armory.
The armory was well-stocked! Grenades, rifles, sniper rifles, and plenty of handguns!
Everyone who entered the armory was overjoyed, and without a word, they each grabbed a weapons bag and began filling it with various firearms and ammunition.
Each person took as much as they could!
However, everyone’s strength varied. The young men from the wealthy families only managed to take two handguns, one rifle, and some ammunition. As for the girls, due to a lack of bags, they only took one handgun and a few boxes of bullets.
Although they liked the sniper rifles, their previous experiences at shooting clubs had taught them that those weapons weren’t suitable for them. In fact, they would only become a burden. Handguns were much more practical.
Now that they had handguns, their thoughts quickly turned to more sinister plans. With a glance at each other, they began to scheme about how to dispose of the officers and monopolize the female police officer.
Uncle Chen and Old Zhao, sensing something was amiss, remained vigilant while quickly arming themselves.
As for the two bodyguards, the moment they held the handguns, their thoughts subtly shifted as well.
While these people were each harboring their own hidden agendas, the tentacle zombie, following the sound, had wandered close to the police station’s entrance.
After searching for a while without finding any targets, it resumed its aimless wandering nearby.
Ten minutes later!
A group of heavily armed young men and women, wearing bulletproof vests, emerged from the armory, their faces filled with excitement.
However, the experienced Uncle Chen, Old Zhao, and the two bodyguards were not as relaxed as the others. They still moved cautiously, keeping their steps light as they approached the entrance, which caused them to gradually fall behind the rest of the group.
“Hey? Where are my high heels?”
At the entrance, the two women noticed that their high heels, which they had left by the door, were missing!
“Look, they’re over there!”
One of the women pointed to the high heels scattered near the counter opposite the entrance.
However, the pairs of shoes, which had been neatly placed together, were now scattered around.
“Huh? How did they get there? I distinctly remember leaving them by the door,” they muttered in confusion, but didn’t think too much of it. They walked over to retrieve their shoes.
Click, click, click …
After putting on their high heels, the two women quickly rejoined the group. The young men glanced at them but didn’t think much of it and continued walking out of the police station.
However, the two police officers and bodyguards at the rear noticed something odd. They frowned slightly, tightened their grips on their guns, and became even more alert.
“Aaahhh!”
But before they could react, the young men who had stepped out of the police station first suddenly screamed in terror.
When the others looked over, their faces immediately turned pale. The two young men at the front had each been impaled through their bulletproof vests by a tentacle, dying instantly.
The others, horrified by the sight, tried to retreat into the police station, only to be tackled to the ground by zombies that had appeared out of nowhere, their screams echoing in the air.
Bang, bang!
The two police officers and bodyguards immediately sprang into action, rushing out of the police station, drawing their guns, and firing at the zombies attacking the young men.
“Aaahhh!”
However, before they could fire more than a few shots, more screams came from behind them.
The officers quickly turned to see four more zombies that had somehow appeared behind them, now pinning the two bodyguards to the ground.
“Take care of the ones behind us first!”
Uncle Chen made a quick decision, pulling the trigger as he spoke.
“Got it!” Old Zhao responded.
Bang, bang!
Bullets flew, and the four zombies attacking the bodyguards were quickly riddled with holes.
But when the officers turned back around, they found that the two bodyguards were already unconscious.
Turning back to the police station entrance, they saw that the young men from the wealthy families had met a gruesome end. The two women in high heels had been mauled by three zombies, their stomachs ripped open, with their intestines spilling onto the ground.
As for the other four, apart from the two who had been impaled by the tentacle zombie at the start, the other two had also died horribly after taking just a few steps. By the time the officers looked back, the tentacle zombie had already torn their bodies apart, leaving them mostly devoured, with bones exposed.
