Chapter 17: Hold Back, You Must Hold Back

When Jiang Shuying saw Chen Nian say they should part ways here, her heart instantly panicked.

She looked at Chen Nian cautiously, as if afraid of something.

Chen Nian glanced at Jiang Shuying and then said:

“Weren’t you in a hurry to go home?”

“I’m not planning to go back yet. It’s rare that I’m out, so I want to explore the area…”

“There’s still time before we report to school. Might as well not waste the vacation, right?”

Seeing her insistence, Chen Nian didn’t argue further.

“Should we find a place to eat first?”

As she spoke, she pulled out her phone and searched for a moment before turning to Chen Nian.

“Let’s go to the Hilton. The environment is nice, and we can eat at their buffet restaurant.”

“The Hilton? Sure, let’s go there.”

They hailed a taxi and soon arrived at the Hilton Hotel.

At the front desk, just as Chen Nian was about to hand over his ID, Jiang Shuying spoke first:

“Book us a presidential suite for tonight.”

“A presidential suite? Jiang Shuying, have you lost your mind? The price—”

Before Chen Nian could finish, Jiang Shuying grinned and pulled out a bank card.

“I’ve got money. You saved my life—did you think I’d let you pay? All expenses for the next few days are on me.”

“Let’s just get the presidential suite. It has two rooms, so we can each have one.”

Seeing the little rich girl’s determination, Chen Nian didn’t argue.

It wasn’t his money anyway. If she wanted to splurge, he’d just enjoy it.

After checking in, Jiang Shuying turned to Chen Nian.

“Now that we’ve settled our stay and it’s not mealtime yet, how about we go shopping?”

“Shopping?”

“Yeah! I lost my bag in the Forbidden Zone, along with all my clothes… I’ll need to shower later, so I want to buy a few outfits first.”

“Then why drag me along? Can’t you go by yourself?”

Before she could finish, Chen Nian cut her off with a glance.

“Those black-clad men chased you because you were holding a Mini Dragon. That’s what they wanted. Without it, they wouldn’t have cared about you.”

“Now that you’ve stored the Mini Dragon away, I doubt any criminal in the city would bother attacking you for no reason.”

Jiang Shuying felt her mind spinning at his matter-of-fact response.

For a moment, she nearly lost her composure.

Her best friend once said, Some straight men are just impossible to flirt with. She hadn’t believed it, until now.

Is my charm really useless against Chen Nian?

I refuse to accept this!

Taking a deep breath, she put on her most innocent, adorable smile.

“Forget the Mini Dragon. Don’t you think I’m pretty?”

“You are, but what does that have to do with me?”

Hold back, hold back… I’m a lady. I must hold back!

Jiang Shuying repeated this mantra in her head.

Still smiling, she pressed on:

“The world is full of bad people. Don’t you think, as a man, you should protect a helpless girl like me? Even if there are no criminals, what if random guys keep hitting on me? With you around, no one would dare bother me…”

“No. Not interested. I’m tired and want to sleep. If you need a bodyguard, call the police.”

That was the last straw.

Jiang Shuying grabbed his arm.

“No! You’re coming with me today!”

“Didn’t you want to see my legs? Fine! I’ll wear a skirt later, you can look all you want!”
