Chapter 7: The Dragonite’s Leader – Master Class

Jiang Shuying was about 1.7 meters tall but weighed only 90 pounds, giving her a perfectly proportioned figure. With a light tug from Chen Nian, she was effortlessly pulled onto Dragonite’s back.

Instinctively, Jiang Shuying let out a startled cry. Before she could even struggle, she found herself nestled in a warm embrace. In an instant, her face flushed red.

“Chen Nian, you—”

“Shut up and stop squirming. Do you want to fall from here?”

By then, Dragonite had already taken off into the sky. When Jiang Shuying glanced down, she was immediately terrified. Instantly, she became much more compliant, no longer resisting Chen Nian holding her.

Still, in her heart, she felt utterly wronged.

He’s such a jerk! He’s holding me, yet he dares to yell at me! Does he not realize how inappropriate it is to wrap his arms around a girl’s waist like this?

Despite her grievances, Jiang Shuying didn’t blame Chen Nian. After all, she was excited to see Dragonite’s habitat soon.

More importantly, Chen Nian had just saved her—he was her savior.

The memory of Chen Nian’s sudden heroic act stirred a strange, fluttery feeling in her heart.

Riding on Dragonite’s back was something Jiang Shuying had never dared to dream of. Now, she couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement.

Watching Dragonite soar through the air, she turned to Chen Nian and asked,

“Do Dragonites live in groups?”

“And you call yourself a top student? Didn’t the textbooks say Dragonites are social Pokémon? Did you forget all of that?”

Seeing Chen Nian roll his eyes at her, Jiang Shuying bit her lip in frustration.

This dense guy really deserves to be single! Doesn’t he know that answering a girl’s questions properly is an easy way to earn her favor?

Pouting angrily, she decided she didn’t want to talk to him anymore.

Dragonite flew incredibly fast. Within minutes, it descended onto a vast, azure mountain plateau.

After dismounting, Chen Nian instinctively scanned their surroundings.

Lush green meadows stretched out, dotted with blooming flowers. Beyond a dense forest in the distance stood towering, snow-capped peaks. A crystal-clear stream flowed down from the snowy mountains, winding through the woods and across the plains, vanishing into the horizon.

The scenery was breathtaking.

Jiang Shuying, standing beside Chen Nian, couldn’t hide the awe and delight in her eyes.

“It’s so beautiful! Is this… Dragonite’s home?”

Looking around, Chen Nian and Jiang Shuying saw many adorable Dragonites napping on the grass by the stream. Some Dratini and Dragonair were playing in the water or on the meadow.

Sensing intruders, a few massive Dragonites descended from the sky.

Under their watchful gaze, Jiang Shuying grew nervous and instinctively hid behind Chen Nian.

Then, a Dragonite noticeably larger than the others approached.

The Dragonite that had carried them here gently placed its child on the grass before communicating with the larger one.

Chen Nian took the opportunity to examine the big Dragonite’s stats.

Judging by its stats, this Dragonite clearly surpassed all others in strength. From its commanding presence, Chen Nian deduced it was the leader of this Dragonite clan.

As Chen Nian observed the oversized Dragonite, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

“Human!”

“I’ve been informed of what happened.”

“Thank you for saving one of my kin.”

“If there’s any way we can repay you, name it.”

Jiang Shuying jumped at the sudden voice, but Chen Nian quickly realized what was happening.

Telepathy!

This Dragonite leader is so powerful it’s mastered even this ability?

Jiang Shuying had no idea where the voice came from but was too afraid to speak, inching closer to Chen Nian.

Chen Nian, however, met the Dragonite leader’s gaze and replied,

“What I did was no trouble at all. There’s no need for gratitude.”

“I came here for two reasons: first, to see your habitat, and second, to seek a Dragonite as my partner.”

“The mother Dragonite I saved has a child to care for, so I can’t take her. My question is—does your clan have any lone Dragonites who yearn to explore the outside world? If so, I’d like to speak with one. If not, I’ll drop the matter.”

“You seek one of my kin as a partner?”

“Understood…”

The Dragonite leader seemed to ponder for about a minute before locking eyes with Chen Nian and responding telepathically:

“Follow me.”

With a powerful flap of its wings, the Dragonite leader took to the sky. The Dragonite Chen Nian had saved tilted its head, gesturing for him to climb onto its back again.

But Chen Nian patted it gently and smiled.

“You’ve already done enough bringing us here. No need to trouble yourself further.”

“Jiang Shuying, come here.”

Unsure why Chen Nian was calling her, Jiang Shuying obediently approached—only for him to wrap an arm around her slender waist again.

She instinctively tried to pull away, but his voice stopped her.

“Hold onto my neck. I’ll take you with me.”

With that, Chen Nian lifted her into the air, flying after the Dragonite leader.

Before long, they crossed a mountain ridge and arrived at a cascading waterfall at the foot of the cliffs.
