Ascending the National Fortune: I Bring Technology from the Future - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Short-distance Flight
Fang Jian’s parents didn’t say much when they saw him return with the car. The elderly father, upon hearing his son say that this car would be for his daily commute and regular use, even nodded in satisfaction, wearing a contented expression.
They mentally prepared themselves for their son’s car purchase, knowing he could afford a multimillion-dollar house.
That night, Fang Jian secretly slipped out of the car. He went to a deserted mountain area, distanced himself, and activated his bio-armor. He began adapting to flying while exploring his other abilities.
Fang Jian had thoroughly studied the instruction manual for this device many times. Now he was systematically testing its features. After tinkering for a few hours, Fang Jian’s flying became increasingly steady.
The following day, Fang Jian took the little girl and visited the hospital again. He was gratified to see Liu Yuanyuan’s condition visibly improving.
The little girl was very affectionate toward Fang Jian, constantly calling him “Brother.”
Although Fang Jian knew that Liu Yuanyuan was behaving this way to please Fang Yiyi, he was still quite delighted. So, on the third day, Fang Jian received notification that the second container ship would arrive at the port the next day.
As the cargo owner, it was a reasonable request to want to track the ship’s movements. Unless acting irrationally, any shipping company would not refuse such a request. Otherwise, if word got out, they would likely lose future business. That night, Fang Jian discreetly went out on his own.
Now, his courage had grown significantly. He entered a remote and uninhabited alley, donned his armor, and activated it. Instantly, within a hundred meters around him, all electromagnetic waves flickered and fluctuated momentarily.
This electromagnetic interference didn’t affect circuits, so it didn’t cause power outages or damage electronic devices. However, all surveillance equipment froze for a few seconds at that moment.
It was as if people were browsing the internet and suddenly encountered a lag. In those few seconds, Fang Jian had already taken to the skies. Although Fang Jian wore civilian bio-armor, its advanced technology surpassed any modern equipment.
It was like a person in the era of cold weapons a thousand years ago who could place reconnaissance satellites in the sky, gaining complete control over the enemy’s movements. Then, targeting the enemy’s army, he could launch a heavy-duty bunker-buster bomb…
Ensuring that any enemies would be obliterated. Fang Jian navigated while flying toward the direction of the ship. This was offline navigation, and his bio-armor had built-in functionality.
A little over an hour later, Fang Jian had quietly and imperceptibly located the target ship. This was partly because it was his first time using short-range flight, and he wasn’t entirely accustomed to it.
Indeed, short-range flight!
This distance was barely enough for the bio-armor to meet the criteria for short-range flight. As for regular flight practice, this distance wouldn’t even qualify as an ultra-short range. A quick scan revealed an empty deck.
In contrast, there were several heat signatures in the cockpit. Fang Jian silently landed on the deck and focused his attention on inspection. Indeed, it was all cement inside.
So, he began the routine task of replacing the cargo. The reason for coming to this place in the middle of the night was simple.
If Fang Jian had to board the ship every time before receiving the cargo, he would arouse suspicion even if he didn’t display any abnormalities. But now, things were different. He hadn’t boarded the ship, and everything was according to the standard procedure.
If anyone could still see through it, it could only mean that the equipment on his body was a knockoff. Hiding in the spatial house, swapping five thousand tons of goods was straightforward. Fang Jian had far more than five thousand tons of electrolytic nickel in his possession, but he didn’t want to overdo it all at once, so he settled for releasing around 5,100 tons and called it quits.
Finally, satisfied with his handiwork, Fang Jian nodded in approval.
Without anyone noticing, Fang Jian took off into the air. This time, it only took him half an hour to return home. When he repeated his old trick and arrived in the bedroom, his parents hadn’t even gone to sleep yet.
Seeing their son return, they simply reminded him to come back earlier in the future. As parents, their concern for their children was comprehensive. If their son came home late, they would nag him a bit. Even if they knew he wouldn’t be happy about it, they couldn’t help it.
Fang Jian laughed it off. He started to consider moving out.
But then, he thought about the adorable Fang Yiyi…
Forget it. What’s the point of moving out?
It’s just that the 256-square-foot house he bought seemed a bit small.
If he wanted to evade his parents’ “surveillance,” this area was far from enough. Glancing at the bank card on the table, Fang Jian made up his mind.
