Chapter 40 Returning to Bai Lin City, Bai Jingchong Is Shocked!
The skinny beast tamer was sent to the military camp for training by the mayor of Candlefire City.
Bai Zian knew nothing about these events, nor did he have any interest in them.
To him, it was merely a small episode.
After successfully retrieving the incomplete king-level crystal core and teaching the skinny beast tamer a lesson, Bai Zian left the mayor’s residence.
At this moment, Bai Zian had arrived at the train station in Candlefire City.
It was time for him to return to Bai Lin City.
Click, click!
After a short while, a spirit beast in the shape of a centipede, with a body as strong as steel and blade-like toes, slowly entered the station.
It was the Thousand Blade Centipede Train.
The train’s destination was none other than Bai Lin City.
With this in mind, Bai Zian boarded the Thousand Blade Centipede Train along with Qiao Gubai.
This time, Bai Zian’s seat wasn’t in the regular compartment but in a private one.
After all, his training was over, and there was no need to travel the same way as before.
“When we arrive in Bai Lin City, Sister Bai Zhi will help you handle all the paperwork,” Bai Zian said to Qiao Gubai. “In the meantime, focus on bonding with your mutated Candlefire Spider cub.”
It was still summer break, and there was some time left before school started.
This gave him the opportunity to resolve Qiao Gubai’s matters once and for all.
Of course, Bai Zian didn’t need to handle everything personally; he could delegate the tasks to others.
He also specifically instructed Bai Zhi to limit Qiao Gubai’s interaction with members of the Bai family.
Her fortune-related talent was extraordinary, and if mishandled, it could cause problems.
Thus, minimizing her contact with ordinary people could help prevent potential issues.
On another note, the mutated Candlefire Spider egg she had contracted had successfully hatched after a few days of incubation.
As a result, Qiao Gubai’s pet beast officially became the mutated Candlefire Spider.
She was overjoyed by this development, her face glowing with happiness throughout the journey.
Bai Zian felt a bit helpless but didn’t say much.
The rest of the trip passed without incident.
Though some insignificant spirit beasts attempted to attack the Thousand Blade Centipede Train, they were no match for a gold-level train like this.
Under such circumstances, the train smoothly arrived at Bai Lin City.
“We’re finally back. It feels different,” Bai Zian said with a touch of emotion as he gazed at the familiar city.
This training session had lasted longer than expected—over twenty days, nearly a month.
The extended time left Bai Zian somewhat reflective but he headed home without delay.
As for Qiao Gubai, she was no longer with Bai Zian, having been taken by Bai Zhi to handle her affairs.
Soon after, Bai Zian returned to the Lord’s Mansion.
“Young Master Zian has returned!”
The moment the servants saw him enter, they were overjoyed and rushed to inform the rest of the household.
Before long, Bai Zian’s parents arrived home.
“Back from training? Not bad, you seem to have grown,” his father said with a slight nod. Though he looked stern, there was a hint of joy in his eyes. Clearly, he was pleased to see Bai Zian return safely.
“Xiao An, you’ve gotten a tan! Going out on your own was so dangerous,” his mother, Lu Caiyun said with her heart aching as she saw how tired Bai Zian looked.
Bai Zian had always lived a life of luxury, and now that he had spent so much time outdoors, she couldn’t help but worry about how much he had endured.
“Mom, I’m fine, and I’ve made significant gains,” Bai Zian said, feeling a bit helpless. “But let me clean up first, and then I’ll tell you everything.”
Bai Chengzhi and Lu Caiyun both nodded in agreement.
Lu Caiyun even ordered the kitchen staff to prepare a feast of Bai Zian’s favorite dishes.
After cleaning up and enjoying a meal, Bai Zian began recounting his experiences during the training.
Of course, he left out the more dangerous and unusual details, knowing that if he told his mother too much, she would only worry.
It wasn’t until much later that his family learned the full extent of his experiences, leaving them shocked.
They hadn’t expected him to go through so much during this training.
Nevertheless, they were overjoyed that Bai Zian had returned safely.
Just then, Bai Zhi returned and approached Bai Zian.
“Young Master Zian, the Lord has sent word requesting your presence,” Bai Zhi said.
Bai Jingchong, the city lord, had heard about Bai Zian’s return but was tied up with work, so he asked Bai Zian to come to him.
“Got it.” Bai Zian replied with a slight nod.
After informing his parents, he made his way to where Bai Jingchong was.
As the lord of a city, the Lord’s Mansion was merely the Bai family’s residence, but the real office was elsewhere.
In the very center of Bai Lin City stood a grand building, which was the true administrative hub.
Before long, Bai Zian arrived at the office and stood before Bai Jingchong.
“You’re back, Xiao An. How did the training go?” Bai Jingchong asked, a trace of a smile in his eyes.
To be honest, while Bai Zian had been away, Bai Jingchong had a general idea of what had happened.
After all, the security team would report the major events that occurred during Bai Zian’s absence.
When Bai Jingchong learned of Bai Zian’s experiences, he was quite surprised.
Bai Zian’s rapid growth had far exceeded his expectations.
It had only been a month since Bai Zian contracted the Bai Scaled Fish, yet in that short time, it had advanced to the ninth rank of the unclassified level.
With just one more step, Bai Zian would reach the Black Iron rank, officially becoming a Black Iron beast tamer.
Such growth was truly astonishing.
For comparison, high school students in Rock Mine City typically spent an entire year reaching only the fifth or sixth rank of the unclassified level.
It would take them until their third year, or even graduation, to reach the Black Iron rank.
While others took around three years to achieve this, Bai Zian had accomplished it in less than a month.
Bai Jingchong was naturally amazed.
But what surprised him most was Bai Zian’s actual combat strength.
