Cheeky Sword God - Chapter 19
Seeing the Shadow in front of him again, Wu Chi had a mixed feeling in his heart.
How many people have perished because of this sword?
He planned to live his life peacefully, but he was involved in this storm. Now, he had returned to the sword with his life hanging by a thread, all he felt was an unspeakable irony.
“Eh?”
Surprisingly, after coming in contact with the Shadow, Wu Chi found out that his pain from the sword qi had lightened up. The sword qi that had been constantly corroding his body seemed to be suppressed, and the corroding process had slowed down by a large amount.
“What’s wrong?” Zhou Boyan soon discovered Wu Chi’s abnormal expression and asked.
Wu Chi’s eyes had lit up and hope was rekindled in Wu Chi’s heart. “The Shadow’s sword intent seemed to have suppressed Luo Kun’s sword qi.”
Without thinking for long, Wu Chi immediately understood what happened.
His body had originally contained a wisp of the Shadow’s sword intent, which was why he could support himself up to now. The sword intent shouldn’t be enough to resist Luo Kun’s sword qi, but he had bumped into the Shadow, which caused Luo Kun’s sword qi to be suppressed by the Shadow’s sword intent.
After taking the medicine, Wu Chi immediately sat cross-legged.
Without the relentless corrosion of the sword qi, the wounds on his body were recovering at a fast pace and with the help of the elixir, his body would soon be healed. The real problem was that Luo Kun’s sword qi was still inside his body, and the Shadow’s sword intent was in the end, just an external force. It was possible for Wu Chi to suppress the sword qi, but it was impossible for him to completely expel the sword qi from his body.
This sword qi was like a ticking time bomb inside his body. As soon as he had gotten far away from the Shadow, Luo Kun’s sword qi corrosion would act up again.
“Really?” Zhou Boyan asked with concern.
Wu Chi shaked his head as he was not disappointed, “I thought I would have surely been dead… This temporary recovery is enough for me.”
Hearing Wu Chi speak like this, Zhou Boyan became sad.
Luo Kun was still outside, and even if Wu Chi were to recover, it was still impossible for them to escape.
“I’m sorry… If I had ran away with you, this would not have happened.”
“Do you regret it?” Wu Chi asked casually while shrugging his shoulders.
Zhou Boyan did not answer, but just sat in silence.
In fact, Wu Chi did not expect her to answer his question. For him, he had already made up his mind when he went to block Luo Kun, and got seriously injured, but he did not regret that decision.
There are some things in the world that are more important than life.
“Do you have anything to eat?”
Zhou Boyan has a Universal Bag with a storage space, but Wu Chi, a small disciple from Iron Sword Sect, didn’t own one.
“Yes, but not much… only enough to support us for around 10 to 15 days.” Zhou Boyan nodded.
This food was prepared by Uncle Shui before she went to her father’s funeral. Now it seemed that this food was put to a great use.
“That is good. We are safe for now! Who knows… Miracles might chance upon us while we’re waiting.” After receiving the food from Zhou Boyan, Wu Chi spoke heartily.
“A miracle…” Midway through the sentence, Zhou Boyan suddenly thought of something and her eyes were brimming with excitement. “Wait a minute… we still have a chance!”
Wu Chi looked at Zhou Boyan curiously.
“The Shadow!”
Zhou Boyan said excitedly, “As long as we can get the Shadow, we will have a chance to defeat Luo Kun and escape!”
“Didn’t you mention before that each person can only attempt once with the same method?” Wu Chi asked, he was still puzzled. He remembered that Zhou Boyan had said before that if she had failed, it would be impossible to try again.
“I cannot, but you can!” Zhou Boyan said while staring at Wu Chi.
“Me?” Wu Chi was confused. The Shadow was a property of the Shadow Sword Villa so the sword would naturally fall to Zhou Boyan’s hands, so he never had the idea of refining, or taking the Shadow for himself.
“Yes! You know the Shadow Sword Technique, and there is a wisp of Shadow’s sword intent inside your body. You have a higher chance to get the Shadow’s recognition. As long as you can get the Shadow, we can counterattack Luo Kun.”
“With Luo Kun’s residual sword qi inside your body, as long as you can successfully refine the Shadow, you can expel the sword qi.”
At this moment, Wu Chi was moved.
If there’s a chance to live, you obviously would want to grab on that chance.
What’s more, this is the Shadow we’re talking about! A sword that made Luo Kun, a disciple from Tian Shan, covet!
“But… this sword is what your father left you!”
“At this point, do you think I would care anymore?” Zhou Boyan bit her lips tightly, and continued, “It’s better for the sword to fall in your hands rather than Luo Kun.”
Zhou Boyan did not say anything more.
After so much experience, she had wholeheartedly trusted Wu Chi, and she didn’t care for the Shadow anymore.
Smiling bitterly, Wu Chi patted his head and immediately understood her intentions.
This was the last chance for both of them.
If they still fail to refine the Shadow, all that’s left for them is to wait for their death. In the end, the Shadow would either be destroyed or get taken by Luo Kun. They had nothing to worry about now.
Wu Chi did not immediately attempt to refine the Shadow but sat down first.
Previously, Zhou Boyan had already failed once, and he would only let himself fail if he attempted to refine rashly.
He closed his eyes and threw all useless thoughts to the back of his mind. He focused his mind entirely on comprehending the sword intent of the Shadow.
…
The sky was becoming bright.
The sun slowly rose up, signifying that the whole night had passed. Luo Kun, who had been waiting for the whole night, started to get impatient. Zhou Boyan hasn’t responded to him yet.
“Did this girl go crazy?”
Luo Kun couldn’t understand. Zhou Boyan, a girl of only sixteen or seventeen years old, would watch the collapse of Shadow Sword Villa, the death of her relatives and even be humiliated in public rather than yielding to him.
Now, Wu Chi was on the verge of death, and she still refused to yield.
Could she be so cruel that she would rather let her lover die in front of her than to give in?
Also, Wu Chi, an ant in his eyes, dared to intervene, and even managed to tear down his plan.
“Brother Luo, what should we do now?”
“Keep on waiting, we will wait for another three days. If she still refused to give up the Shadow, go trigger the mechanism of the seal, and destroy the entire Sword Pavilion!” Luo Kun decisively said that.
If he really couldn’t get the Shadow, all of this would be a waste of time! If such circumstances were to happen, he would not let Zhou Boyan live peacefully.
“What about that boy?”
“My sword qi is inside his body, without treatment, he will die for sure!” Shaking his head, Luo Kun murmured, “We’re out of ways to force Zhou Boyan out. We can wait until she can’t watch Wu Chi suffer anymore and willingly come out.”
“There are still some people from Shadow Sword Villa who are alive. I will command some people to torture them in front of Sword Pavilion for three days until they beg for death!” Deng Mao said slowly.
Soon, Zhou Boyan heard the shrieks of her relatives. She ignored the pain in her heart, and forced herself to not look at the window.
Under these circumstances, her heart couldn’t waver. If she couldn’t save the others, it would be better to not look at them at all.
Facing up, Uncle Shui tightly clenched his teeth, he refused to shout even when his body parts were ripped out, and his whole body was covered with blood.
He saw everything that had transpired and the initial disdain he held towards Wu Chi had completely disappeared.
Who could have imagined that such an insignificant little boy had stirred up the situation so that Miss Zhou could escape safely inside the Sword Pavilion?
However, he didn’t know whether they could survive this disaster or not.
Nonetheless, if death was unavoidable for him, he was willing to face death rather than getting humiliated.
A curved smile appeared on the corners of his mouth, and his heart became peaceful.
He only has one life, he wouldn’t use this life to risk Zhou Boyan’s safety. Even if he were to get tortured to death, he wouldn’t scream out to affect Zhou Boyan’s decision.
“Miss Zhou… you must hold on!”
…
Of course, the situation outside wasn’t known by Wu Chi. He was fully immersed in comprehending the Shadow’s sword intent, it was as if he was isolated in his own world, completely unaware of his surroundings.
Zhou Boyan sat beside Wu Chi and looked at his determined face. Zhou Boyan instantly recalled her father’s words.
“There are certain geniuses who are born for the sword!”
Her father once said that this kind of person has a higher understanding and an outstanding perception of the sword. A sword practitioner with this kind of talent has an ability that was far from what ordinary people could imagine, and from the look of it… what her father had said before was indeed true!
Originally, she was not completely convinced with Wu Chi’s ability to comprehend the sword and believed that he was just a little better than others. Wu Chi had repeatedly proved her wrong, and recalling her father’s words once more, Wu Chi was indeed one of those people.
A sword genius!
Perhaps, the Shadow falling into his hands was the best outcome.
