Chapter 17 Richard’s Blueprint
What kind of trick is this?
This scene left everyone in a daze.
The lord before them gained an air of mystery in their eyes.
It must be known that the magical means of spatial storage was a legendary existence.
On the entire continent, they had never heard of anyone possessing such ability.
They even doubted whether such abilities existed only in stories.
Yet now, it appeared right before their eyes, and it was their lord; this myth-like scene left them completely stunned.
On this day, the shock brought by their lord truly came in waves.
In contrast, their lord seemed quite accustomed to possessing such abilities, appearing unperturbed.
So, are we really living in the same era as the lord?
As knight attendants, even if they hadn’t cultivated life seeds, they were still on the path to the extraordinary in this world.
But no matter how they looked at it, they felt increasingly like mere mortals gazing up at the divine in front of their lord.
By the time they came to their senses, the lord had already walked far away.
…
At this moment, the distant villagers, who had resumed their work, were discussing the scene that had just unfolded while working.
“The lord is truly terrifying! He’s so young yet possesses such incredible abilities. That spider monster had no chance to fight back, he’s too strong!”
“Yes, indeed! Thanks to the lord today! If it weren’t for him, we might have been eaten! You didn’t see how those few who first woke the spider died so gruesomely!”
“I saw it too! Their bones were blackened; it only took a few seconds! Terrifying!”
“I was in the same team as those few. The team leader asked me to go with him to fetch tools, but we were a bit slow; otherwise, I might have been one of the dead! The lord truly saved my life!”
They continued to talk while working.
Following Richard’s orders, some were tending to the seedlings in the fields, while others were reclaiming fallow land, and their movements seemed even quicker than before.
It was unclear whether this was due to gratitude for being saved or fear of being on the receiving end of Richard’s knightly sword.
After all, it was a sword that even a giant spider monster could not withstand; they didn’t dare gamble on whether they might anger their lord.
Farther away, those responsible for other tasks had initially felt a slight shock but had not directly faced the storm; their work progress was hardly affected.
At that moment, they were still each focused on their responsibilities.
Some were transporting manure, while others were herding livestock, busily and mechanically toiling away.
…
Richard did not return to the castle but instead rode his mount to inspect the transformation of his territory.
While patrolling, he opened the spatial warehouse to check on the extraordinary beast egg he had obtained earlier.
[Detection of the host’s point of interest. Would the host like to start hatching the beast egg now?].Oh?
Richard was somewhat worried about whether he really needed to take it out and find a suitable place to hatch it. He didn’t expect the system to actually have dedicated after-sales service.
This was definitely a chance to take advantage of!
“Start hatching!”
With Richard’s command, the beast egg immediately glowed with a soft light, pulsating like breathing, flickering on and off.
The description of the beast egg also displayed the words [Hatching].
However, he had no idea how long the hatching would take.
It didn’t matter; after all, it was just an addition, so he would let fate decide.
If he knew the duration, the waiting process would always be torturous, but if he kept a calm mindset and took it easy, when it finally hatched, it would be a pleasant surprise.
Richard was very skilled at creating opportunities to elevate his emotional value, which made him strive to live happily.
This could be considered a good attitude of finding joy amidst hardship in this challenging environment.
After completing all this, his attention quickly shifted back to the laboring villagers.
Seeing the bustling scene in the Long Eagle territory, Richard couldn’t help but begin to devise plans for future development.
Food is of utmost importance; eating comes before everything else.
Once all the preparations were in place, the first priority would surely be farming.
This was an instinct deeply ingrained in every Eastern person’s soul.
Especially with a batch of extremely high-quality seeds acquired from the system, if he didn’t plant them, it would feel like a wasted opportunity, akin to a wealthy person not returning home, strutting around in finery at night.
From the perspective of investment returns, just imagine the feeling of planting a single seed and reaping hundreds of grains. Even deducting time and labor costs, it would still yield hundreds of times the return!
Just thinking about it was exhilarating!
There was nothing more significant than this benefit.
Engaging in commerce was unnecessary.
In this backward medieval age, doing business was a joke.
Just the differing tax policies of each territory could drive a person mad.
To put it simply, some lords decree that anything that falls in their territory belongs to them.
And these lords would dig pits all over the roads in their territory.
Of course, it was uncertain whether they even had roads at all.
Normally, during the Central European period, the lords of each territory had the power to mint coins, so currencies among different territories were not standardized.
But in this world, at least the currency was unified into gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins, the reason for which Richard was unclear; he didn’t know whether it was a characteristic result of this fantasy world.
Yet even so, between different territories, the same gold coins faced differing inflation situations.
If it were the information age, such circumstances would clearly be a perfect business opportunity.
But in this age, communication was inconvenient, and due to the differing capabilities of rulers and changes in lords, market fluctuations were bound to be significant, making it hard to acquire timely information.
You might hear that a certain place has a strong purchasing power for silver coins, so you travel long distances to procure goods, only to find that by the time you arrive, prices have already risen, and you could be at a total loss.
Let alone the bandits along the way, who might not all be real robbers. Even if you later seek justice, you would likely face local territorial rules and might inexplicably run into the lord of the opposing territory.
With Richard’s background and strength, he naturally wouldn’t fear ordinary people, but he wouldn’t want to battle a group of mice against an elephant; that would be exasperating.
Additionally, in the forests and wilderness, the occasional appearance of extraordinary creatures posed great risks for traveling merchants.
So Richard didn’t consider it at all.
As his operations expanded in the future, he couldn’t handle everything personally.
Thus, establishing the correct direction and strategy for development from the start was more important than anything else.
As for the business situation of Cinderella’s father, he had learned a little while chatting with Cinderella.
Near the royal city, he made money from the nobles and citizens of the royal city.
As for the goods, his business involved purchasing items from passing merchants and then retailing them in the royal city.
Such a small business, akin to an ant’s leg, relied on the gradual accumulation of savings over a long period.
Richard truly looked down on it.
Of course, what he looked down on was the business itself, not the money held by Count Temmann.
What needs to be extorted should still be extorted.
To be able to afford the earldom, it must have been accumulated for at least three generations, right?
