Forest Ranger: Starting with a Giant Panda Mom Clinging to Me - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Big Fish
The comments went wild. The screen was flooded with question marks. What had they just seen? Lin Tian had actually made a fishing rod for the mother panda and was seriously teaching her how to fish?!
What made them even more dumbfounded was that the mother panda actually held the fishing rod, squatted by the river, and started fishing!
> “??”
> “???”
The audience felt their brains couldn’t keep up.
Meanwhile, the mother panda had indeed mimicked Lin Tian, holding the fishing rod and sitting by the river. She understood Lin Tian’s instructions.
If the white float on the water moved, it meant a fish was on the hook.
Lin Tian saw the mother panda actually holding the rod and fishing, and he found the scene somewhat surreal. Fortunately, he quickly accepted it. Holding his own fishing rod, he sat quietly beside her, waiting for a bite.
And so, the livestream audience witnessed this magical scene.
In the lush green forest by the river, one human, one panda, sat quietly by the water’s edge, with the same posture and expression, staring at the river, fishing.
This scene was as beautiful as something out of a movie.
> “Whoa… this scene is unexpectedly stunning!”
> “I took a screenshot! I’ll send it to my work group at the foreign company to make those foreigners jealous!”
> “Is this really not a movie shoot?!”
> “Brother Tian, be honest, is the mother panda actually a person in a costume?”
> “Panda Mom, it’s decided, you’ll star in the next Kung Fu Panda!”
…
The comments flew by, and everyone was shocked by this bizarre scene. Many passersby who stumbled upon the strange livestream even asked if the mother panda was a 3D animation.
When they learned it was a real panda, they were stunned. What followed was a flood of comments and a steady stream of gifts.
Lin Tian paid no attention to any of this. His eyes were fixed on the river’s surface. At first, fishing alongside the mother panda didn’t feel like a big deal.
But soon, he realized something was wrong. If the mother panda caught a fish before him, and he came up empty, wouldn’t they mock him for being worse than a panda?
No way, he had to catch a fish before the mother panda! Lin Tian’s gaze locked on the float in the water.
Soon, the float moved. Lin Tian noticed this slight movement. But he didn’t pull the rod. This faint twitch didn’t mean a fish had bitten the hook. It was likely just a fish nibbLin at the bait, not yet hooked.
He’d wait a bit longer. Lin Tian was planning to do just that. Suddenly, a loud splash came from beside him. The mother panda, clutching the crude fishing rod Lin Tian had made, yanked it up forcefully.
Instantly, a large fish with silvery-white scales, biting the hook, broke the water’s surface. The splashing water formed a fleeting rainbow under the sunlight.
> “Holy crap, she caught one! The mother panda caught a fish!”
> “Good grief, that fish is huge! Probably over a jin!”
> “That fish is impressive, way better than the tiny fish some host caught.”
> “Panda Mom is awesome!”
> “Brother Tian, your fishing skills are lacking. Even Panda Mom caught a bigger fish.”
> “Brother Tian, if you cannot hack it, maybe let Panda Mom teach you how to fish.”
> “Pfft, hahaha.”
…
Lin Tian: ???
Looking at the big fish the mother panda had caught beside him, Lin Tian was dumbfounded. Then he couldn’t help but smack his own mouth.
Tch, his cursed mouth. Whatever he said came true, and the mother panda really caught a fish before him. But Lin Tian was only frustrated for a moment before letting it go. The mother panda had caught a fish, and he was happy for her.
At that moment, the mother panda was even more excited. Looking at the big fish on the hook, she eagerly waddled her clumsy limbs, rushing toward the fish at her fastest speed.
The fish was still flopping on the grass. The mother panda slapped it with a paw, mercilessly knocking it out. She opened her mouth, ready to grab the fish.
At that moment, Lin Tian quickly stopped her.
“Panda Mom, wait, the hook hasn’t been taken off yet,” he said.
Lin Tian hurried forward, removing the fish from the hook to prevent the mother panda from getting hurt. Only then did Lin Tian realize the fish the mother panda had caught was really big. It probably weighed two jin.
After helping the mother panda remove the fish, Lin Tian returned to his spot to continue fishing. Because he had been close to the mother panda, her yanking the rod had caused a commotion, scaring away the fish he had been about to catch.
He had to start over.
Meanwhile, the mother panda, holding the fish in her mouth, didn’t eat it but tossed it aside. Then she grabbed the fishing rod and sidled up to Lin Tian, nuzzLin him with her head.
“Uh? You want to fish again?”
Lin Tian was surprised by the mother panda’s actions. This guy seemed to have fallen in love with fishing. She was actually clamoring to have another hook baited.
“Alright, alright, you can fish,” Lin Tian said. Lin Tian had no choice but to take out another fruit, infuse it with spiritual water, and prepare the bait for the mother panda.
The mother panda then eagerly clutched the fishing rod, sat by the river, and, mimicking Lin Tian, cast the hook into the water. And so, one human and one panda squatted by the river again.
Lin Tian looked at her and shook his head. She’d probably get bored if she didn’t catch anything soon. Catching a fish once was just good luck.
Lin Tian smiled. This time, he got serious, deliberately choosing a spot with more water plants to place his hook, significantly increasing the chance of catching a fish.
The mother panda, on the other hand, had cast her hook randomly. Her chances of catching a fish were slim. Lin Tian was confident he’d catch a fish before the mother panda this time.
Just as Lin Tian was thinking this, suddenly, a familiar splash of water breaking came from beside him again. Lin Tian turned his head in surprise.
He saw the mother panda, clutching the fishing rod with both front paws, forcefully pulLin it up. Another fish, about the same size as the last, was hooked.
The mother panda deftly reeled it out of the water.
Lin Tian: ????
> “Hahahahaha”
> “I cannot take it, I am dying of laughter.”
> “Brother Tian said he’ll definitely catch a fish before Panda Mom, and what happened?”
> “Slapped in the face already!”
> “66666!”
> “I’ll die laughing in this livestream sooner or later.”
> “Panda Mom is still the champ, way better than a certain host.”
