Forest Ranger: Starting with a Giant Panda Mom Clinging to Me - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Too Hasty
“Roar roar.”
(Let’s go, we’re heading home.)
Just as Lin Tian was about to head back, he noticed the Chinese alligator following him. Following was one thing, but it looked like it actually wanted to go home with him.
Lin Tian was stunned. Could it be that it still wanted to eat his spiritual water fruits? Lin Tian guessed to himself.
The livestream audience also saw the Chinese alligator trailing behind Lin Tian and were surprised.
> “Why is the Chinese alligator following Brother Tian?”
> “Does it want Brother Tian to take it home?”
> “Good grief, how did Brother Tian do it? Last time he lured Panda Mom home, and now the Chinese alligator too.”
> “Brother Tian, take Croc Bro home. We want to see the daily life of a Chinese alligator!!”
> “Yeah, yeah, take it back. Don’t worry about money—we’ll send gifts to support you!”
…
The comments seemed to really like the Chinese alligator. Some even sent gifts and donations to encourage Lin Tian to take it home.
Lin Tian glanced at the comments and was speechless. The Chinese alligator was a national first-class protected animal. Private domestication was naturally not allowed.
He was able to keep Panda Mom because the bureau had given special permission. But this Chinese alligator? He didn’t have the qualifications to raise it.
“Don’t follow me. There is no food at my place. Go back,” Lin Tian said.
Lin Tian picked up the Chinese alligator and placed it back in the stream, then turned to find Panda Mom. Panda Mom stayed in place, caring for her two cubs while waiting for Lin Tian.
When she saw Lin Tian return, she quickly trotted over, carrying the cubs in her mouth.
“Ying ying.”
Panda Mom let out a couple of affectionate calls, but when she saw what was behind Lin Tian, she suddenly stood upright and roared.
—Roar.
It turned out Panda Mom had spotted the Chinese alligator following behind.
Thinking the Chinese alligator meant to harm Lin Tian, she immediately issued a warning to it.
Lin Tian turned around at that moment and realized the Chinese alligator had followed him again.
The Chinese alligator was startled by Panda Mom, wagging its tail and rushing toward Lin Tian for protection. But this scene made Panda Mom think the Chinese alligator was about to attack Lin Tian.
Furious, Panda Mom charged over, ready to swat the Chinese alligator.
Seeing Panda Mom about to fight the Chinese alligator, Lin Tian was alarmed. He quickly stopped Panda Mom.
“Panda Mom, wait! The Chinese alligator didn’t mean any harm!”
Lin Tian blocked Panda Mom.
“Ying ying?”
Panda Mom stopped, tilting her head and looking at Lin Tian with confusion. She seemed puzzled why he wouldn’t let her attack.
The Chinese alligator, seeing Lin Tian stop Panda Mom, clung even closer to him, not daring to move.
After calming Panda Mom, Lin Tian looked down at the Chinese alligator trailing behind him. This guy seemed to have really latched onto him. He had no choice but to take the Chinese alligator back for now.
He’d see how the bureau wanted to handle it.
With that in mind, Lin Tian stopped paying attention to the Chinese alligator. He led Panda Mom and started heading back.
When the Chinese alligator saw Lin Tian leaving, it hurriedly followed.
Panda Mom was wary of the Chinese alligator trailing behind. After all, Little Dot and Little Cutie were still very small. The Chinese alligator’s presence posed a big threat to the cubs. If Lin Tian hadn’t stopped her, she would’ve swatted it with one paw.
Lin Tian didn’t have a better solution for the Chinese alligator.
Taking it back was fine. When the bureau sent someone, they wouldn’t have to go searching for it in the stream.
Lin Tian followed the path he’d come by, patrolling back. He made it all the way back to his residence. He had thought the Chinese alligator might wander off midway, but it followed him all the way to the residence.
Now there was no helping it. The Chinese alligator had truly latched onto him.
Lin Tian unlocked the courtyard gate and entered. The Chinese alligator followed from behind, cautious about the unfamiliar environment of the courtyard.
At that moment, it suddenly spotted a small water tank by the courtyard wall and got excited. Wagging its tail, it rushed into the tank.
Then it dove into the water, and once in the tank, the Chinese alligator felt much safer. It immediately started digging into the mud at the bottom of the tank. It looked like it planned to settle in the water tank.
Seeing this, Lin Tian didn’t stop it. The tank was originally meant for raising fish, but he hadn’t bought fish fry yet. It had been empty all this time. Since the Chinese alligator liked staying there, he’d let it stay.
Lin Tian went back to the house, composed a message, and sent the discovery of the wild Chinese alligator to the bureau. He thought it would take at least until the next day for the bureau to send back a decision.
But to his surprise, not long after Lin Tian sent the message, the bureau replied.
“We are aware of the Chinese alligator situation. After a bureau meeting and discussion, we’ve decided to temporarily entrust this Chinese alligator to your care. All necessary supplies for caring for the Chinese alligator will be reimbursed by the bureau.”
…
“Entrusted to my care???” Lin Tian was stunned reading the message.
Why was it entrusted to him again? This was a national first-class protected animal—wasn’t this too hasty?
Also, he had just sent the report. The bureau couldn’t have finished reviewing it yet, right? They held a meeting already?
Lin Tian was completely baffled.
The livestream audience, seeing the bureau’s message, was equally shocked.
> “Holy crap, the Chinese alligator was entrusted to Brother Tian too?”
> “Damn, doesn’t that mean Brother Tian’s house has two kinds of first-class protected animals?”
> “Brother Tian, be honest, do you have some kind of backing?”
> “Otherwise, why does the bureau trust you so much?”
> “A Chinese alligator, man, I want to raise such a cute little animal at home too.”
> “Chinese Alligator: ???”
> “Hahaha, the Chinese alligator is cursing under its breath, saying your whole family is cute.”
[TN: I highly suggest looking up pictures of Chinese alligators. They are super cute.]…
