Genshin Impact: Supreme Justice of Teyvat - Chapter 1
Chapter One: Trapped by Cultists! How to Survive
The serene moonlit night was shrouded by oppressive clouds, while the myriad stars dimmed their brilliance, meekly adorning the vast canvas of darkness.
In a modest home within Hang City, a sharp cry of agony pierced through the quiet.
“Ninth time already!”
Lu Yu jolted awake from his restless slumber, clutching his throbbing head as he tried to suppress the nauseating disorientation. His lips trembled, muttering the fragmented whispers from his nightmare:
“…Stars… Glorious days are gone… Apocalypse… Breaking free… Blood… Awakening… God… They…”
The sinister murmurs reverberated through the room like a dirge played by Death itself. It felt as though the Mother of Darkness extended her cruel hands, ready to strangle life away into her suffocating embrace.
The haunting memories of his dream flitted away like ephemeral blossoms, fading before they could take root. Lu Yu rubbed his temples and drained a glass of water from his bedside table. This marked his ninth nightmare—one that transcended mundane horrors, plunging him into an abyss of unspeakable terror.
Each vision carried the same eerie elements: low chants like forbidden hymns, and masked figures with upside-down triangular visages carving grotesque, malevolent symbols. The very sight of them in his dream would stir waves of nausea and unease.
The cultists seemed to chant a name, one he could never decipher despite reliving the dream nine times. It felt like a forbidden utterance, a perilous truth shrouded in taboos.
His instincts screamed at him—this was no ordinary nightmare.
Shaken and devoid of sleep, Lu Yu reached for his phone, intending to distract himself with the news.
“Breaking: All female students vanish from a high school dormitory in Long’an City. Only scattered clothes and bloodstains remain; surveillance destroyed.”
“A town in Beihai City massacred in a cult ritual. The entire population was sacrificed to summon a god’s emissary, later subdued by the Special Forces.”
“Public Notice: Avoid venturing into the wilderness during this period…”
One grim headline followed another, the faint glow of his phone illuminating his youthful, handsome face.
“This world… truly perilous. The one I came from was so much safer.”
Lu Yu tightened his grip on his cup, his expression darkening as he read. He wasn’t from this world. He hailed from a blue planet—Earth.
Unlike Earth’s familiar modernity, this world fused a contemporary setting with an ever-present menace: grotesque monsters. These creatures, ranging from beasts to unspeakable horrors, had existed since ancient times, consuming resources and human lives indiscriminately.
Humanity, though intelligent, was frail. Against such monstrosities, they were powerless. But just as extinction loomed, the first “Awakened” appeared, heralding a new era of resistance.
Through their sacrifices, pioneers carved cities from the wilderness, erecting barriers to keep the horrors at bay. Their legacy allowed humanity to survive and prosper.
Lu Yu understood now: this was no Earth, but an entirely different world.
If given the choice, he would never have come here.
In his past life, he’d painstakingly built a fortune worth millions through sheer determination. He wasn’t a tycoon, but his wealth guaranteed a life of comfort and indulgence. Just as he was preparing to enjoy his financial freedom, fate had other plans.
One blink, and he’d woken in this perilous world.
No parents, no inheritance—just a lone orphan thrust into the nightmare difficulty of life. Worse, it was as if the “game” deleted his progress, reset him to zero, and cranked the difficulty to “hardcore mode” without a starter kit.
Lu Yu only wanted a peaceful life, free from the turmoil of heroics. Thanks to his late parents’ modest inheritance, he’d managed to grow up relatively unscathed. He avoided dangerous exploits, refrained from occult games, and kept to himself.
Yet, even such caution couldn’t shield him from ominous nightmares.
Sighing, Lu Yu strolled to the window, hoping the night view might ease his nerves.
But as he glanced across the street, he froze. In the opposite building, where the curtains were conveniently left open, a scene of dread unfolded. Cloaked figures gathered in a dimly lit room, surrounded by unholy symbols.
Cultists.
And not just one—an entire group.
“Damn it!” Lu Yu’s heart sank.
No wonder he’d been plagued by nightmares. A cult of evil worshippers had set up shop right next door!
“I gave up on being some overpowered protagonist the moment I landed here. All I want is a quiet, uneventful life. Why must trouble find me?”
Images from the news flooded his mind: carnage, blood sacrifices, and soulless atrocities committed by these fanatics. Cultists thrived on human life to please their deities and gain power, leaving devastation in their wake.
The thought of his tranquil existence crumbling into chaos, of becoming yet another lifeless victim, made his brow furrow.
“As a rational youth aligned with core values, this mess is better left to the professionals.”
Lu Yu pulled out his phone decisively. He wasn’t about to play the reckless hero. With no guarantee of plot armour, self-preservation was his only creed.
Besides, reporting a cult could net him a reward of fifty to two hundred thousand yuan.
“If I snag a hundred grand, my meals are sorted for years.”
Just as he was about to dial, a grand, mechanical voice resonated in his ears:
“Detected: traces of an evil god’s aura… Initial task completed… Binding Anomalous Editing System… Reward distribution in progress…”
The voice was emotionless, yet its words ignited a surge of excitement within Lu Yu.
“The system… It’s real!”
For sixteen years, he’d waited. Finally, it had arrived.
Even as complaints bubbled within him, Lu Yu couldn’t suppress his elation. With a system, he could finally fight back.
Suppressing his thoughts, he called out softly:
“System!”
A grey mist enveloped his vision, shrouding the world in an ephemeral haze. Before him, a stream of black light trailed sparks, solidifying into an ornate bronze chest.
The box was engraved with intricate, majestic patterns that shifted alongside the swirling mist, as though the cosmos itself was etched within.
“Open the chest?”
Without hesitation, Lu Yu extended a hand. The moment his fingers touched it, the chest shattered into bronze fragments, releasing five mysterious items: a pitch-black cloth, a glowing blue orb, a fragment of a blade, a burning jet-black flame, and a broken pocket watch.
“What… are these?”
As confusion flickered across Lu Yu’s face, the system’s cold voice continued:
“Select and combine these base materials to create your first subordinate entity. The growth potential of the entity will depend on your choices. Additionally, one of its abilities will be bestowed upon you, solidifying into a permanent skill. Your hands are now the hands of chaos, creators of monstrosities.”
A glimmer of determination flashed in Lu Yu’s eyes as he gazed at the materials before him. His destiny had shifted, and with it, so had his resolve.
Finally, the game had begun.
