Global Transmigration: Empire of the Stars - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: Ubiquitous Reinforcements
But it was too late. With the speed of the “Qinyuan” and the crew’s sharp reflexes, they were able to launch a lethal attack in an instant.
The “Qinyuan” drew an arc, and at a precise moment, an electromagnetic cannon was aimed accurately at the cruiser’s stern thrusters. An electromagnetic projectile shot out, directly piercing the engine and detonating the fusion reactor.
A small sun blossomed in the darkness, and the cruiser’s massive hull shattered, releasing fragments of armor in all directions.
With the loss of command, the rebel fleet lost its efficient coordination. The remaining ships acted independently, and the formation quickly fell into chaos.
With the formation in disarray, more weaknesses were exposed. The threat to the “Qinyuan” significantly diminished, and its sub-light speed quickly dropped to 1.2 km per second, greatly enhancing its attack efficiency.
More warships were struck simultaneously, and explosions of fire erupted one after another. In just a few minutes, the remaining rebel warships were completely destroyed.
The “Qinyuan” further reduced its speed, and its extended psionic tendrils collected all the floating spoils in space.
The psionic warship drew an arc in space, heading towards the increasingly imminent danger sensed ahead.
Since entering the Dark Star Region, it was crucial to understand the situation here. Why did an unknown threat approach within just half an hour of engaging the rebel fleet? This question was vital because it could indicate whether future battles with wild NPCs would also be limited to very short durations.
The “Qinyuan” flew at sub-light speed, reaching up to 50% of light speed with the aid of the gravity propulsion system. The gravity sensor’s detection range was 2 light-seconds, meaning the ship could reach the radar’s edge in just 4 seconds.
If there were asteroids or other obstacles ahead, they would need to find a way to navigate the ship safely within those mere 4 seconds.
At this speed, if it were left to normal crew members, the only outcome would be the ship’s destruction and loss of life. Only someone like Lin Zhichen, who could filter out most of the irrelevant information and relay critical data to the crew, could ensure that the ship’s master-level skilled crew could coordinate with the “Qinyuan” to maintain this speed without disaster.
At 50% of light speed, everything in normal space zipped by like light itself. Soon, the source of the danger appeared.
The “Qinyuan” sharply drew an arc in space, rapidly decelerating to normal speed. At this moment, under the sensor’s scan, the source of the danger finally emerged—a massive rebel fleet numbering in the thousands, advancing menacingly!
“So many?!” Lin Ke was almost stunned as he looked at the radar displaying the enemy ship signals.
There were already over a thousand enemy ships within sensor range. How many more were there behind and around them?
As everyone marveled, more warships continued to arrive on the radar display, their numbers increasing. The dense red ship markers advanced like a wall!
The “Qinyuan” was still flying along a tangent, but more and more warships appeared, ranging from the smallest frigates to destroyers, cruisers, and even battleships. The radars equipped on these ships were far superior to the gravity sensors of frigate-class ships. At this point, the trajectory of the “Qinyuan” had long been locked onto by the rebel fleet.
Almost simultaneously, all enemy ships that could lock onto the “Qinyuan” opened fire. From laser cannons to electromagnetic cannons, and a swarm of missiles and torpedoes, various known and unknown weapons blanketed the entire space!
Just before the rebel fleet fired, Lin Zhichen, commanding the “Qinyuan,” suddenly changed his expression. The psionic warship executed emergency evasive maneuvers, darting back and forth several times in a short span.
In the next instant, a scorching beam of light tore through space, ripping through the darkness and flashing past countless small bursts of fire, narrowly missing the “Qinyuan” and shooting into the depths of space.
A particle lance, a main cannon equipped in X-type weapon slots only on battleships and higher-class warships, capable of sinking a cruiser with a single hit!
Without lingering, the “Qinyuan” turned and drew a wide arc in space, instantly fleeing into the deep space away from the rebel fleet.
Behind it, beams of particle lances chased the trajectory of the “Qinyuan” like searchlights, sweeping back and forth. However, at 50% light speed, the rapid escape rendered them ineffective, and one by one, they extinguished.
Lin Ke, sitting in the space chair, was already pale. At the most dangerous moment, dozens of particle lances had woven a net in space, with the closest beam passing just a few meters away, almost brushing his face!
As the danger receded, Lin Zhichen finally exhaled in relief, “It’s over.”
The “Qinyuan” quickly advanced into deep space, putting a significant distance between itself and the rebel fleet.
“I’ve gained a new understanding of the dangers in the Wild Star Region. If we had delayed for an hour or two with the first fleet, we would have been surrounded by the following rebel fleet!” Lin Ke exhaled, calming his excited nerves. He looked at Lin Zhichen with admiration:
“Big brother, it’s a good thing you launched that rapid assault earlier and destroyed that fleet without getting bogged down.”
Lin Zhichen smiled, “That wasn’t luck; it was psionic foresight. This world is in a constant state of dynamic flux, generating countless pieces of information at every moment.
“Psionic foresight involves capturing this part of the information to gain an advantage.”
When the first rebel fleet encountered the enemy and realized that the “Qinyuan” was invincible, they changed their tactics to a defensive stance, intending to hold their ground and wait for reinforcements.
If it hadn’t been the “Qinyuan” today but another mercenary group, they might have been preoccupied with besieging this fleet and ignored the broader battlefield, leading to their encirclement by the arriving enemy ships.
This was the great danger of the Dark Star Region. The refreshed wild NPCs weren’t mindless monsters but real people. They also possessed intelligence, understood tactics, could ambush, launch surprise attacks, and coordinate.
Moreover, due to their lack of emotions, they follow predetermined programs and persistently search for and hunt down intelligent life. In combat, they fought to the death without retreating, and their ability to endure damage far exceeded that of normal intelligent beings, causing headaches for all civilized nations!
“Trying to develop the Dark Star System is far more difficult than we imagined,” Lin Zhichen said, feeling quite troubled as the challenges they faced were far beyond expectations.
If the enemies were scattered, they could be slowly picked off, occupying one base at a time and gradually clearing the area.
But in the current situation, after defeating a small group, the entire family swarmed in, leaving no room for maneuvering. The absolute disparity in strength between the two sides was so great that there was hardly any space to employ strategies.
