Chapter 2: Cultivation Realms – Innate Taiyi, Great Luo Dao Ancestor, and Boundless Primordial Saint
Upon stepping through the Gate of Chaos, Xia Tian was immediately engulfed in endless darkness.
When his eyes opened again, his mind was flooded with infinite, innate knowledge of the Great Dao. These were the ancestral teachings of the Golden Crow Clan, vast and boundless, like countless worlds forming and dissolving endlessly within his consciousness.
It felt as though he could create entire worlds with a mere gesture—an awe-inspiring, almost godlike sensation.
Looking at his reflection, he saw a divine bird radiating infinite golden light, akin to a miniature sun. His entire form shimmered with primordial flames of the Great Dao, capable of incinerating countless realms.
At that moment, Xia Tian realised that he had truly become one of the legendary Three-Legged Golden Crows of the Primordial Chaos.
The Golden Crow Clan, a pinnacle race of the Great Dao, stood among the most revered across all worlds and heavens.
However, his excitement was tinged with disappointment. “I’m neither Emperor Jun nor Taiyi, but one of the ten crown princes of the demon clan’s celestial court—merely the eldest of the ten.” A wry smile crossed his face. “At least this Golden Crow shares my name, Xia Tian, saving me the trouble of adopting a new one.”
As Xia Tian absorbed the infinite memories within his mind and surveyed his surroundings, he understood his current situation. He was not the legendary Emperor Jun or Taiyi but one of Emperor Jun’s ten sons—the ten princes of the celestial demon clan.
Even as a mere prince, his strength in this state was incomparable. If he could bring his cultivation back to the Nine Provinces world, he would be an unparalleled existence.
Here in the Primordial Chaos, Xia Tian was a true celestial being, already in the third realm of the Immortal Dao—Origin Immortal (元仙, Yuán Xiān).
As an Origin Immortal, Xia Tian had begun mastering the infinite Great Dao. His body was akin to a world itself, a marvel of unparalleled strength. In a lesser realm, the flap of his wings could tear through universes and obliterate entire galaxies.
Even in the Primordial Chaos, his power could rip through the void, shaking the heavens and earth.
Yet, in this high-configuration version of the Primordial Chaos, his strength was insignificant—a mere ant compared to the supreme beings of the realm. Without his status as a celestial prince of the demon clan, Xia Tian’s existence would hardly warrant notice.
The demon clan’s celestial court granted him a level of untouchability, with few daring to provoke him, not even their mortal enemies, the witch clan. Any action against him could ignite an all-out war between the two factions—a war neither side was prepared to face.
“This must be the legendary Tang Valley, and this divine tree must be the Fusang Tree,” Xia Tian thought, observing his surroundings and the massive tree beneath him.
[Fusang Tree (扶桑树, Fú Sāng Shù): A mythical tree in Chinese mythology believed to reside in the eastern seas. It is often depicted as the home of the sun or the Golden Crow.]
The Fusang Tree, home to the ten Golden Crow princes, radiated golden brilliance. Together, they resembled ten miniature suns, casting their dazzling light upon the realm.
[Golden Crow Princes (十金乌太子, Shí Jīn Wū Tài Zǐ): The ten offspring of Emperor Jun, said to embody the suns in Chinese mythology.]
The other nine Golden Crows were still in slumber, their bodies naturally emitting divine flames that distorted and fractured even the most stable void—a testament to their unparalleled strength.
Despite their immense power, they had only reached the Golden Immortal realm, a level considered insignificant in the grand conflicts of the Primordial Chaos.
Golden Immortals, although capable of great feats, were merely cannon fodder in the wars between the witches and demons. Their status only highlighted the unimaginable scale of the realm’s power.
“In ordinary times, Golden Immortals might be revered as mighty beings. For instance, in the later epochs of the Investiture of the Gods, most of the disciples of the Chan Sect’s Twelve Golden Immortals barely surpassed this realm.”
[Investiture of the Gods (封神演义, Fēng Shén Yǎn Yì): A classic Chinese novel detailing mythological and historical events, including the rise and fall of powerful figures.]
To rise beyond Golden Immortal required breaking the innate barrier and achieving Innate Taiyi (先天太乙, Xiān Tiān Tài Yǐ)—a realm of true mastery in the Primordial Chaos.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
As time flowed, three days passed in the blink of an eye. Xia Tian perched idly on the Fusang Tree, growing restless.
“Should I explore the Primordial Chaos?” he pondered. “It feels like a waste not to roam this vast world.”
Yet his current level of cultivation, as an Origin Immortal, prevented him from restraining the divine flames emanating from his body. Wandering the world could inadvertently cause immense destruction—scorching lands and annihilating life wherever he went.
Such devastation would tarnish the demon clan’s reputation, and Xia Tian couldn’t afford that.
Breaking through to the Golden Immortal realm would take considerable time, even for a Three-Legged Golden Crow.
“Even as a Golden Immortal, I’d still be nothing more than an ant in the Witch-Demon War,” Xia Tian thought grimly.
He recalled the inevitable tragedy of the war, where nine of the ten Golden Crow princes perished. The demon clan itself, including Emperor Jun and Taiyi, would face near extinction.
Shivers ran through him as he envisioned his possible demise.
“Without the means to counteract the saints, both the witch and demon clans are destined to fall. It’s inevitable—fated. And I’m no exception.”
The hierarchy of cultivation in the Primordial Chaos became clear to Xia Tian through the Golden Crow heritage:
- Earth Immortal
- Celestial Immortal
- Origin Immortal
- Golden Immortal
- Innate Taiyi
- Supreme Great Luo (无上大罗, Wú Shàng Dà Luó)
- Boundless Primordial Saint (混元无极圣人, Hùn Yuán Wú Jí Shèng Rén).
Saints, standing at the pinnacle, dictated fate and wielded the power of inevitability. The Great Luo Dao Ancestors, like Emperor Jun and Taiyi, were merely a step below, their paths intertwined with the heavens and the myriad worlds.
Only those transcending the Boundless Primordial realm could erase their existence entirely.
