I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 177
Chapter 177: This relationship is simple. The beauty of adulthood is to be together.
Even though Yue Mingkong had experienced two lifetimes, her emotions were volatile at this moment, stirring up a great tumult within her.
The concealed tip of Gu Changge’s iceberg was finally surfacing, revealing itself gradually. Silently, his cultivation had surged into the sacred realm, a feat defying common sense and instilling despair and even terror in onlookers.
She finally grasped the actual dread of the Immortal Devouring Demon technique and understood why each inheritor of this technique sparked chaos in the world. Countless sects and factions relentlessly pursued them, inevitably leading to their destruction.
The astonishing pace of cultivation was genuinely remarkable. Gu Changge, merely in his early twenties, had ascended to heights unreachable by many cultivators in their lifetimes.
“The thought of being targeted by Gu Changge is a nightmare…” Yue Mingkong reminisced, realizing the folly of her previous vengeful intentions toward him.
Boom!
Suddenly, the immortal path before her quaked violently like a cataclysmic earthquake had struck. Mountains shook, and the ground trembled as numerous chains of divine laws densely surged forth.
“Gu Changge…” Yue Mingkong’s frigid gaze narrowed.
The next instant, she spotted a charred figure with a treasure bottle hovering above the chaos. Countless thunderous lights erupted fiercely, cascading down like an angry torrent.
Rumble!
The entire immortal pathway crumbled, fissures spreading across its surface. However, just as it seemed to breach the outside world, the surging sea of thunder encountered a ripple-like barrier of laws, instantly dissipating into the void, akin to snow melting under the sun.
At this moment, the mighty thunder calamity bypassed Gu Changge, leaving him unscathed yet thoroughly embarrassed. It was the first time he had experienced such humiliation. Having just absorbed those immortal spirits and broken through his cultivation base, dark clouds had gathered ominously in the sky.
Soon after, the thunder calamity descended with full force, each lightning bolt possessing enough power to wound even a seasoned cultivator in the sacred realm grievously.
Carelessness could destroy the body and spirit. Gu Changge understood that this was the workings of the laws of the immortal road. Now that his external cultivation base had surged, it would no longer attract such catastrophic events.
In ancient times, only those exceptionally gifted beings might face such tribulations upon breakthrough. However, this current ordeal felt as if he were being mercilessly hacked to death.
After enduring several onslaughts, Gu Changge decided to make a swift exit. The subsequent calamities would only grow in intensity, approaching the level of the Great Sacred Realm, tinged with a quasi-supreme aura. While he acknowledged his strength, there was no need to linger in a place that would render him half-dead.
With his cultivation now elevated to the late Quasi-Sacred realm in one fell swoop, Gu Changge felt a profound sense of comfort. He had also thoroughly cleansed the immortal spirits within, though he still needed to refine them. Therefore, he stored them away for future use.
With matters having reached this point, Gu Changge’s ultimate objective had been accomplished, leaving him thoroughly satisfied. It was time to move forward and tackle the next steps.
However, seeing Gu Changge covered in charred blackness at that moment, Yue Mingkong couldn’t suppress a burst of laughter. It was rare to witness Gu Changge in such a state, being pursued and attacked by the heavenly tribulation as though it sought his demise.
Gu Changge responded to Yue Mingkong’s amusement with a calm demeanor.
As his body trembled slightly, the charred remnants began to disintegrate, inch by inch, revealing fresh skin underneath. The newly emerged skin had a translucent quality, akin to immortal jade, exuding an aura that seemed to declare, “Even if the world crumbles, I shall not perish; I am immortal.”
Yue Mingkong continued to gaze intently, her snow-white face reflecting blazing radiance from her pupils as she stared at Gu Changge without interruption.
“You’ve been staring at me for quite some time. Shouldn’t I get a chance to return the favor?” Gu Changge remarked casually, a hint of amusement playing at the corner of his lips.
“Return the favor?” Hearing this, Yue Mingkong froze momentarily before averting her gaze and softly retorting, “Then perhaps you should hasten to cover yourself.”
Gu Changge chuckled, “Didn’t you already see what you wanted? Are you trying to take advantage?”
His words incited a surge of irritation in Yue Mingkong, who refused to acknowledge the slight tremble she had felt moments ago.
Without delay, Gu Changge found a robe to do before stepping outside. Simultaneously, he remarked, “The Immortal Road will soon close. Opening it prematurely will only complicate matters for the next time…”
His words were nonchalant, hinting at the impending arrival of a horde of ancient beings once the Immortal Gate reopened, unleashing a dreadful bloodbath. Gu Changge had essentially seized the opportunity ahead of schedule, ensuring that even if these ancient entities rushed in, they would find nothing of value.
This covert operation was known only to Yue Mingkong.
“It hardly matters now. No one else is aware of your intrusion,” Yue Mingkong replied.
Though her gains were not as significant as Gu Changge’s, she had still made substantial strides in cultivation, even brushing against the pinnacle of the False God realm.
“Indeed, only you are privy to this information,” Gu Changge affirmed with a smile.
This statement from Gu Changge left Yue Mingkong slightly taken aback, pondering its meaning. Did he imply that he was aware she knew? Was he acknowledging their shared knowledge cryptically?
“Don’t worry, I won’t divulge this matter,” Yue Mingkong assured him.
“I don’t doubt you. Why are you so nervous?” Gu Changge shook his head, speaking candidly.
In truth, he harbored some concerns. Yue Mingkong’s cautious demeanor perfectly epitomized the adage, ‘Once bitten by a snake, you’ll be afraid of a rope for ten years.’ While she had indeed lowered her guard, she hadn’t entirely placed her trust in him.
Gu Changge’s reliance on luck and destiny points could have been more extensive. Aside from acquiring transcendental bones, he used them primarily to expand his inner world. Despite having tens of thousands remaining, he recognized that he would likely require the next step to fulfill his system task.
His plan was straightforward. He understood that for women, emotions carried far greater weight than rationality. He had laid the groundwork and only needed to wait for a tragic turn of events.
Meanwhile, Ye Ling was already deceased, yet the blame for the inheritor of demonic art still rested on his shoulders. It was time for Gu Changge to redirect suspicion toward another individual.
“Consider these items as a reward from me. Don’t question it; accept it as an act of generosity,” Gu Changge declared casually.
His tone conveyed neither intimacy nor distance. Wisps of immortal intent emerged as he extended his hand, resembling floating chains imbued with immortal energy, radiating an ethereal glow.
Observing this spectacle, Yue Mingkong was momentarily stunned, scarcely believing her eyes.
“It’s an immortal spirit,” Gu Changge confirmed, sealing it within a jade jar. The quantity was substantial, offering a generous reward.
However, for the current Yue Mingkong, the immortal spirit provided by Gu Changge was more than sufficient, with plenty left over for her use.
The jade jar landed lightly in Yue Mingkong’s hand as Gu Changge, with a single step, gracefully ascended into the sky. In the blink of an eye, many nearby followers, including Yin Mei, appeared in unison, joining Gu Changge as they transformed into divine light and swiftly departed from the area.
“Gu Changge…” Yue Mingkong stood rooted to the spot, staring at the jade jar in her hands. She was at a loss for words, honestly taken aback by Gu Changge’s unexpected gesture of generosity.
She hadn’t anticipated that Gu Changge would bestow upon her the immortal spirit, considering the immense risk he had undertaken to collect it within the Immortal Road. Each strand was exceedingly rare and held immeasurable value, possibly tempting even those in the quasi-supreme realm.
Yet, amidst her surprise, frustration welled up within her. Previously, Gu Changge would playfully tease her and refer to himself as her husband. However, now there was a palpable distance between them, marked by a natural and polite demeanor that left Yue Mingkong stunned and aching in her heart.
Their dynamic had shifted, making it challenging for them to revert to their previous playful interactions, where she would feign ignorance and Gu Changge would delight in teasing her.
“If only I hadn’t spoken those words…” Yue Mingkong shook her head, letting out a soft sigh as she quickly composed herself. After gathering her formations, she departed with her followers, suppressing the swirl of emotions within her.
…
After departing from the Baiheng Mountain Range, Gu Changge returned to his previous station. He had already dispatched a message to the clan, confident that the most vital members were en route to the Ancient Immortal Continent. The Gu family stood to benefit significantly from annexing the Ancient Immortal tribes, leveraging the righteousness of their cause.
Having stirred up such a commotion, Gu Changge wondered if other Dao heritages would remain idle bystanders. The resources and interests at stake in the Ancient Immortal Continent were enough to alarm all Dao heritages.
“Welcome back, Young Lord!” Amidst the ruins, an immortal-armored divine soldier astride an ancient pure-blooded ferocious beast greeted Gu Changge. Their presence exuded a chilling aura, their eyes piercing like swords, unsettling the void.
They were the Immortal Armor of the Ancient Immortal Gu family, veterans of countless battles, and wielders of unparalleled prowess. Whenever significant turmoil or battles involving the Gu family arose, this elite team played a crucial role in resolving many clandestine matters.
Although Gu Changge’s current status limited his usage of many Immortal Armored Guards, this expedition to the Ancient Immortal Continent warranted an exception. The Immortal Armored Guards had already received his orders and awaited his return.
“With this force, along with a few of my puppets, we can dominate many clans,” Gu Changge remarked, casting his gaze over the group of Immortal Armored Guards.
Yet, he knew an old ancestor from Gu Xian’er’s lineage was amongst them. However, Gu Changge must know the ancestor’s identity or seniority within the clan.
As long as it was an ancestor from the clan, sweeping the powerhouses of those Ancient Immortal clans wouldn’t be an issue. And for any ancestor who disagreed, Gu Changge had a plan to ensure their compliance.
“The first elder still owes me a favor. He won’t be able to resist coming to the Ancient Immortal Continent this time…” Gu Changge murmured, confidence gleaming in his narrowed eyes. “If that fails, I already have a backup plan.”
With his strategy mapped out, Gu Changge started with the Feathered Clan, the clan hostile towards him from the outset. They would serve as a tool for his purposes, a lesson to others, akin to the strategy of ‘knocking the mountain to shock the tiger and killing the chicken to warn the monkey.’
This chaotic period was also the perfect time for the Black Heavenly Eagle Clan to assist him clandestinely.
“Head towards the Feathered Clan,” Gu Changge ordered lightly, boarding an ancient warship as the formidable figures of the Immortal Armored Soldiers soared across the sky, emanating a menacing aura.
Meanwhile, three figures observed the scene from above: Gu Xian’er, the Great Elder, and the elderly peasant-like ancestor of the Gu family.
“Gu Changge seems to be heading towards the Feathered Clan,” Gu Xian’er remarked, observing his departure route.
“With such intense murderous intent, I wonder how he became the Young Master…” Gu Nanshan shook his head inwardly, though he maintained an expression of admiration.
“Ancestor, the Feathered Clan boasts ancient lineage and a formidable background. Should we ignore Gu Changge’s actions?” Gu Xian’er voiced her concern, doubting whether Gu Changge, with only Immortal Armored Soldiers at his disposal, could successfully crush the Feathered Clan and intimidate the other clans.
“Don’t fret. When the time comes, this ancestor will certainly intervene,” Gu Nanshan assured Gu Xian’er. However, a slight twitch at the corners of his mouth betrayed his true feelings before he quickly composed himself and forced a smile.
In reality, Gu Nanshan harbored a desire to witness Gu Changge suffer a significant setback. Despite speaking favorably of Gu Changge in Gu Xian’er’s presence numerous times, it was primarily out of familial obligation and a pragmatic approach to resolving family conflicts.
Personally, Gu Nanshan held no fondness for Gu Changge. His desire to see Gu Changge taught a lesson stemmed from the latter’s mistreatment of Gu Xian’er and his desire for retribution. However, Gu Xian’er’s firm stance made Gu Nanshan feel compelled to act accordingly.
He couldn’t simply stand idly by if the ancestor of the Feathered Clan appeared to bully the younger generation of the Gu family. As the Gu family’s ancestor, he couldn’t afford to remain in the shadows and watch events unfold.
Gu Nanshan found himself experiencing a headache at the predicament he was in. It felt as though he had been outmaneuvered.
With a resigned sigh, Gu Nanshan and the others swiftly followed the blurry void ahead of them.
Meanwhile, Dao Lineages and various clans were also mobilizing across the Ancient Immortal Continent. Numerous powerful beings used spiritual communication outside the Feathered Clan to inquire about the unfolding events.
The arrival of immense ancient warships hovering in the sky sent fear among creatures and cultivators alike. The Absolute Beginning Divine Sect had been stationed here for several days, vigilant against incursion into the Feathered Clan’s territory.
This display of power, without resorting to violence but rather using intimidation, sent shockwaves through the cultivator and creature communities. The Absolute Beginning Divine Sect’s demonic nature was palpable, instilling terror in all who beheld it.
“It’s rumored that they’re awaiting the arrival of Young Master Gu Changge. Some time ago, the Feathered Clan used a sacred weapon to attack him, sparking the ire of the Absolute Beginning Divine Sect, who swiftly dispatched a large contingent to retaliate…”
“I’ve also heard that the Ancient Immortal Gu family is incensed. They’ve sent a formidable army of Immortal Armored Soldiers to suppress the Feathered Clan.”
“The Feathered Clan must be quaking in their boots. Who would’ve thought the Absolute Beginning Divine Sect would come with such aggression, ready to blockade the clan if they resist…”
“Indeed, anyone in their right mind wouldn’t dare to resist… The Ancient Immortal Gu family is the most enigmatic power in the upper realm. They’ve endured for eons, surpassing all others in longevity.”
“Their background is shrouded in mystery. Even if this battle doesn’t rival the immortal battles of legend, it won’t be a mere skirmish either…”
Amidst the peaks and mountains in the distance, numerous cultivators and creatures observed the unfolding spectacle in the sky, engaging in genuine discussions.
Among them were many young Supremes, such as the descendants of Immortal Lake and the forces aligned with them. Similarly, Wang Wushuang, a descendant of the Ancient Immortal Wang family, furrowed his brow in contemplation.
Elsewhere, figures like Ye Langtian and Ye Liuli of the Immortal Ye Clan also watched with astonishment.
This battle carried profound significance. Within the clans of the Ancient Immortal Continent, the Feathered Clan held a prominent position, ranking among the top fifteen. While they lacked immortal beings, their ancestors once stood as titans among humanity—a true Emperor Realm character.
Boom!
Amid the shocked gazes of cultivators and creatures alike, a brilliant spatial rift tore open the sky. Immediately, the air was saturated with immortal light as Immortal Armored Soldiers, mounted on fierce beasts and exuding formidable murderous intent, surged forth from the ancient world as if propelled by a tidal wave.
“Attack!” A resounding battle cry reverberated throughout the heavens and earth.
“Young Lord!” The influential figures aboard the ancient warships ahead shouted respectfully towards the spatial rift.
From within the blurred passage emerged the figure of Gu Changge. Standing upon a warship with hands clasped behind his back, clad in black attire, his gaze remained tranquil as he surveyed the Feathered Clan below. Behind him, a sizable contingent of followers exuded a palpable rage and determination.
“Please, no need for formalities,” Gu Changge nodded slightly to the powerhouses of the Absolute Beginning Divine Sect. This sect was the immortal power behind his mother, with his uncle currently leading the sect. His grandfather had previously held this position, while his uncle, dedicated to cultivation, had never married or fathered children. Consequently, Gu Changge naturally assumed the role of Young Lord within the sect.
This familial relationship was straightforward. It explained why other young Supremes dared not provoke him—beyond his formidable strength. His background surpassed theirs.
With Gu Changge’s arrival, the atmosphere within tens of thousands of miles became solemn and excited.
“Gu Changge!”
“Release our Young Master!”
Several figures burst forth from within the Feathered Clan. Their wings unfurled in fury as they confronted Gu Changge with hatred and murderous intent. These individuals, roughly Gu Changge’s age, belonged to the impulsive younger generation and disregarded their elders’ attempts to restrain them.
“Release our Young Master?” Gu Changge’s lips curved into an intrigued smile as he turned to the middle-aged man in golden armor beside him.
“Reporting to the Young Master, this individual is Yu Xuan, a descendant of the Feathered Clan,” the middle-aged man respectfully informed Gu Changge, restraining Yu Xuan, whose cultivation had been sealed.
“Gu Changge, I’ll kill you! I’ll avenge Yu Jing!” Yu Xuan’s face contorted with unwillingness and rage as he glared at Gu Changge with eyes aflame. Had his cultivation not been sealed, he would have undoubtedly clashed with Gu Changge repeatedly.
“What’s his connection to this Yu Jing?” Gu Changge inquired with a faint smile.
“Young Master, they were childhood sweethearts and very close,” the middle-aged man responded with a playful grin.
“Ah, perfect. I can provide them with a fitting end to their tragic love story,” Gu Changge mused lightly.
“Gu Changge, release our kin!” The enraged young creatures charged at Gu Changge, brandishing forbidden weapons glowing with menacing energy.
“Dare to challenge me with nothing but your brute force and a forbidden weapon?” Gu Changge’s smile remained serene in the face of their aggression.
Stepping into the void with an unchanged expression, Gu Changge raised his hand and swept it downward. A buzz resonated as divine runes intertwined, black and white auras lingering as they manifested into a world-destroying divine disc, rolling across the sky and crushing everything in its path.
Puff! The forbidden weapon shattered into pieces, blood splattering in all directions. The few False God Realm geniuses, armed with the banned weapon, collapsed on the spot, their bodies and spirits annihilated.
“Idiots,” Gu Changge muttered, doubtful that there were still fools willing to throw their lives away.
The cowardice of the Feathered Clan’s older generation disappointed him. None dared to confront him directly.
Nevertheless, Gu Changge raised his palm once more and dispatched Yu Xuan to the afterlife, fulfilling his promise to reunite the childhood sweethearts in death. After all, he intended to keep his word and unite these lovebirds, even if it meant in the realm of the departed.
