I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 204
Chapter 204: The love of belongings, mortal takeover the powerhouse
Yue Mingkong was well aware of Gu Changge’s intentions; he simply wanted to ascertain if she knew of any ancient figures who could potentially become his next target. However, she hadn’t anticipated his straightforward inquiry, caught off guard by his request for her opinion.
Based on her understanding, the descendants of the Human Ancestor Hall would soon emerge, scouring the world in search of the reincarnation of the Human Ancestor while plotting to eliminate the true inheritor of demonic arts. In the previous life, it seemed that the Human Ancestor Hall’s descendants had confronted Gu Changge, but Yue Mingkong remained uncertain of the outcome. Despite the changes in this life, Gu Changge’s identity and actions remained constant, suggesting that he held considerable influence over the Upper Realm.
If Gu Changge’s plans came to fruition, as he suggested, he would meet his demise, leaving Yue Mingkong widowed. Faced with such a scenario, she knew she would choose to follow Gu Changge in death. Yet, she desperately wished to avoid such a tragic outcome.
“It appears you’re unaware of Wang Ziji’s background,” Gu Changge remarked with an intriguing smile, hinting at the possibility of Yue Mingkong assisting him. “If I were to take action against her, the risk would be substantial. However, with your help, the situation could change.”
“Wang Ziji’s background?” Yue Mingkong echoed, taken aback by Gu Changge’s suggestion. Did he truly believe she could aid him? Had he discerned something significant?
However, before she could dwell on his words, she noticed another implication in Gu Changge’s statement. Did Wang Ziji possess a notable lineage? Wasn’t she considered an ancient anomaly from the Wang family?
Observing Yue Mingkong’s expression, Gu Changge seemed to understand her thoughts. Evidently, in the timeline where Yue Mingkong met her demise at his hands in her previous life, there was no transmigrator. The presence of transmigrators introduced numerous variables, as if fate itself were conspiring against him. Yet, Gu Changge remained unfazed by the challenge.
As a transmigrator, Wang Ziji didn’t pose a significant threat to Gu Changge. However, her fortuitous lineage as a descendant of the Human Ancestor Hall presented an opportunity for Gu Changge to reap considerable benefits. It made attacking Wang Ziji a worthwhile endeavor.
“Wang Ziji is actually a descendant of the Human Ancestor Hall,” Gu Changge remarked casually, feigning contemplation.
“A descendant from the Human Ancestor Hall?” Yue Mingkong’s initial disbelief soon gave way to a realization, her expression shifting subtly as she processed the revelation. Something felt amiss. In her previous life, the descendant of the Human Ancestor Hall had been a mysterious figure cloaked in mist, neither distinctly male nor female. Wang Ziji’s emergence as a descendant in this life marked a significant deviation from the events of her previous existence, signaling that the past might not necessarily repeat itself.
This divergence sparked a glimmer of hope within Yue Mingkong. Perhaps this meant that her past experiences weren’t set in stone, leaving room for unexpected outcomes.
“Mingkong, it seems you’re not aware of this,” Gu Changge observed, his gaze shifting toward Wang Ziji conversing with members of the Wang family in the distance. His expression grew increasingly intriguing, hinting at the unfolding of an unexpected turn of events.
Gu Changge entertained the possibility that the Human Ancestor Hall might still have another descendant, distinct from the one Yue Mingkong had encountered in her previous life. Wang Ziji’s sudden appearance suggested an alteration in the original trajectory, implying the existence of another heir unbeknownst to Yue Mingkong.
Yue Mingkong, oblivious to this new development, issued a rare note of caution to Gu Changge. “Gu Changge, you need to be wary of the Human Ancestor Hall,” she advised, her expression tinged with vigilance. Even as a regressor, her influence held little sway against Wang Ziji’s formidable lineage.
“Mingkong, there’s no need to worry. You can make your own decisions regarding your husband,” Gu Changge reassured with a light smile, his mind already made up. He took Yue Mingkong’s hand, a gesture of affection before swiftly disappearing into a black rune.
Perplexed by the sudden turn of events, Yue Mingkong couldn’t help but wonder about Gu Changge’s unusual behavior. Why was he being so carefree and indulgent at a time of uncertainty and concern? She had always known Gu Changge to be strategic and in control, seldom showing any signs of worry or vulnerability. His departure without a clear plan indicated a lack of accurate assessment on his part. Perhaps the impending return of the Human Ancestor had placed more pressure on Gu Changge than she had realized.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Yue Mingkong resolved to prioritize their journey to the Heavenly Star Realm. The Human Ancestor’s return couldn’t be imminent. She had to find a way to delay it for Gu Changge’s sake.
“It’s alright,” Gu Changge assured, shaking his head slightly in response to Yue Mingkong’s scrutiny.
Yue Mingkong regarded him intently, attempting to decipher his true intentions. “Why do you appear so skeptical?” she inquired, searching for clarity in Gu Changge’s demeanor.
With a light smile, Gu Changge feigned ignorance of Yue Mingkong’s thoughts. He had deliberately misled her earlier to create the illusion of concern over the Human Ancestor’s return. This ruse was intended to prompt Yue Mingkong to hasten to the location of the Human Ancestor’s reincarnation, allowing him to intercept her. The black rune served to track Yue Mingkong’s movements, enabling Gu Changge to intervene accordingly.
After considering Yue Mingkong’s role as a regressor, Gu Changge felt no remorse about manipulating her. He couldn’t risk exposing her identity, yet he needed crucial information from her. It was a delicate balance, but Gu Changge was willing to engage in this charade to inject some excitement into his otherwise mundane existence.
In his mind, Yue Mingkong’s luck points as a regressor remained steady. If he hoped to capitalize on her potential, he needed her to divulge her secrets willingly. Gu Changge recognized that extracting such information would be crucial for accumulating a significant amount of luck and destiny points.
Yet, beyond his strategic considerations, Gu Changge genuinely loved Yue Mingkong. However, this affection stemmed more from possessiveness than genuine affection.
“If Wang Ziji isn’t feasible, perhaps we should consider targeting those ancient freaks,” Yue Mingkong suggested earnestly, offering a list of potential candidates for Gu Changge’s schemes, including past prodigies like the former genius of the Immortal Lake and the sealed Huo Daozi of the Vermilion Bird Clan.
Though she couldn’t reveal too much about the future establishment of the True Immortal Academy, Yue Mingkong subtly guided Gu Changge by mentioning notable figures associated with various sects. It was a delicate dance of hinting without revealing too much.
Observing Yue Mingkong’s earnestness, Gu Changge couldn’t help but smile. Her willingness to collaborate inadvertently made her complicit in his schemes.
“Mingkong, I find myself drawn to you more and more,” Gu Changge remarked with a smile, evoking a bright response from Yue Mingkong.
Despite enjoying Gu Changge’s affectionate words, Yue Mingkong remained aware of the gravity of their situation. The clandestine nature of their discussion would undoubtedly terrify any bystanders if they were privy to the true nature of their conversation.
Yue Mingkong’s primary concern was the impending exposure of Gu Changge’s identity as the inheritor of the demonic art. She was determined to devise a plan to divert blame away from him, regardless of any guilt she might feel. Her loyalty to Gu Changge superseded any allegiance to the Upper Realm, even if it meant standing against it.
“Considering there may be another descendant of the Human Ancestor Hall… I wonder how Wang Ziji feels about it,” Gu Changge remarked, casting a meaningful glance at Wang Ziji in the distance. He pondered the potential utility of Wang Ziji, especially if she held a disdainful attitude toward the Human Ancestor Hall, aligning with his plans.
Gu Changge’s thoughts then turned to the powerful puppets left behind by the Ancient Heavenly Lord of Reincarnation. These puppets, stored in his portable mansion, possessed formidable strength derived from pure cultivation power and exclusive formation cores. They presented a perfect opportunity to fabricate a false inheritor of demonic art.
With the right arrangements, Gu Changge could stage an encounter with the supposed inheritor and use the aura of the Immortal Devouring Demonic Art to mask the puppet’s true nature. Through careful manipulation, he could fabricate a scenario that would divert suspicion away from himself.
This plan seemed simple enough to execute, especially considering that he had only encountered the real inheritor of demonic art in the outer world, with Yin Mei being the sole witness. Gu Changge was confident in his ability to navigate this deception and protect his true identity.
Although persuasion alone might not suffice, this time Gu Changge intended to ensure that many cultivators witnessed the event firsthand. He had a plan in mind to capitalize on the arrival of the other descendant of the Human Ancestor Hall. It presented a perfect opportunity to blur the lines between reality and deception, making it difficult for anyone to distinguish between the true inheritor of demonic art and the fabricated one.
Gu Changge had initially considered creating a clone to masquerade as the inheritor of demonic art, but he ultimately dismissed the idea as unnecessary. Why bother with such a complex deception when he could easily shift blame onto his opponent and make them bear the consequences?
As he pondered his next move, Gu Changge was interrupted by a sudden system prompt: “Ding, you triggered the son of luck, the mortal who took over a powerhouse.” This unexpected notification caught Gu Changge off guard, prompting him to wonder if it held any significance. However, he quickly brushed it off, dismissing it as a trivial matter.
Reflecting on past experiences, Gu Changge recalled a similar prompt when Wang Ziji appeared, indicating her status as a transmigrator. But this time, the mention of a mortal taking over a powerhouse piqued his curiosity. It was an intriguing twist, reminiscent of clichéd plots from his previous lives where an ordinary mortal suddenly assumed the role of a powerful figure.
Despite the subtle undercurrent of panic in his heart, Gu Changge maintained a facade of calm on the surface. The prospect of dealing with such an unexpected development intrigued him, adding an element of excitement to his meticulously crafted plans.
Gu Changge was no stranger to this kind of routine, knowing that even if he attempted to blend in seamlessly, his flaws and weaknesses would inevitably be exposed. With a discerning gaze, he surveyed every corner of the hall, including Yue Mingkong, and observed the interactions among the young supremes, as well as the representatives from various sects and immortal Dao heritages.
However, Gu Changge’s initial expectations were soon met with a perplexing realization. Contrary to the usual pattern, there wasn’t a sudden disappearance of powerful individuals from the main hall. This mortals-taking-over-powerhouses scenario seemed implausible; after all, how could ordinary individuals assume control over powerful entities without some supernatural assistance?
Recognizing that the issue lay elsewhere, Gu Changge decided to revert to his tried-and-tested method: using luck points to identify the new Child of Luck. Fortunately, the system prompt indicated that the newly emerged individual wasn’t too far away from him. By closely monitoring the recent arrivals, he could easily pinpoint the target.
Given the typical pattern, Gu Changge speculated that this Child of Luck would likely have some connection to him, potentially posing a conflict of interest. Intrigued by the prospect, he contemplated how this individual’s identity might serve his purposes. If the circumstances were favorable, it could provide him with an opportunity to advance his plans further.
Just then, a messenger from the clan rushed to Gu Changge’s side and delivered news in a hushed tone, “Young Master, Yin Mei from the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox Clan has arrived.”
Since it was only the midpoint of the banquet, Yin Mei felt too embarrassed to disrupt the proceedings by speaking loudly. Thus, she relied on Gu Changge to convey her message.
“Yin Mei?” Gu Changge repeated the name, maintaining his composure. However, Yue Mingkong, seated beside him, immediately picked up on the significance of the mention. Her phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, radiating a palpable sense of danger.
Upon hearing Gu Changge’s response, many young geniuses in the hall became curious and turned their attention towards the unfolding scene.
“Allow Junior Sister to enter,” Gu Changge declared calmly, masking any hint of surprise. He had been considering the possibility of Yin Mei’s arrival moments before, making her appearance less unexpected.
This confirmation solidified Gu Changge’s suspicion that the newly-appeared Child of Luck was likely connected to Yin Mei, and thus indirectly linked to him.
Guided by members of the Gu family, Yin Mei gracefully entered the hall in a stunning red dress, exuding an aura of charm and allure. Her beauty captivated all who beheld her, and her nine snow-white fox tails added to her mystique.
As she approached, murmurs rippled through the crowd, recognizing her as the heavenly maiden of the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox Clan, known for her association with Gu Changge and the cancelled engagement with the young master of the White Tiger Clan.
Despite the late arrival, Yin Mei greeted Gu Changge with a respectful nod and a smile. However, Yue Mingkong remained stoic and aloof, seemingly unaffected by Yin Mei’s presence.
Yin Mei’s attention was drawn to Gu Changge’s peculiar gaze, which seemed focused not on her, but on the servant accompanying her.
In the midst of the bustling banquet, Yin Mei’s arrival injected a sense of intrigue and anticipation, setting the stage for what was to come.

It’s somewhat painful to read this, I guess it’s bearable if I think of it as machine translation though.
The translations don’t seem too off, except for a few cases where the sentences really make no sense, but most of the time it’s not difficult to understand what they mean.
But what happened to the editor? Supposedly, according to your “About us” section, you first translate it to “engrish” and then edit it to decent english. I see here that, if I was an editor, it wouldn’t be difficult to edit all of it to be good english with nice flow and being easy and fun to read, at most I would need to ask about a few words or sentences that make no real sense. So, what happened to the editing? Maybe you just weren’t editing this for a while for some reason? Or someone that’s not very proficient in english edited it as a stopgap measure?
Seriously hope it will improve again soon. It really affects the reading experience as it is right now even if I can still follow the story and understand almost everything that is going on. How I wish I could read chinese.
