I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 247
Chapter 247: The old guys in Peach Village, Xian’er brought someone back from her parent’s home
In the blink of an eye, several days passed. In the upper realm’s outer domain, deep within the abandoned land, chaotic mist shrouded all directions, with majestic mountains and invisible winds. Ancient trees stretched endlessly, and various fierce beasts with formidable auras roamed, giving the impression of a place that existed before the creation of the world.
Ordinarily, no cultivator would dare to venture through this area. Even outside the Land of Immortal Abandonment, they would be torn apart by the powerful beasts that roamed here. Moreover, the area was saturated with all sorts of miasma. Inhaling it would contaminate one’s origin, making it difficult to cleanse. Over time, the Land of Immortal Abandonment became a forsaken place.
Very few cultivators came here for cultivation. However, nestled within its depths, there lay a small village. It wasn’t large and appeared tranquil. The villagers numbered only about a hundred, consisting of men, women, and children of all ages, each with unassuming appearances. Yet, they all possessed remarkable auras, even stronger than some cultivators.
At the entrance of the village stood a tall and magnificent peach tree, adorned with blossoms that shimmered like crystal-clear jade. Each blossom emitted a radiant glow, hanging down various chains of laws amidst the surrounding chaotic mist, lending an air of mystery to the scene.
“Xian’er has been gone for so long. I wonder how things are now? The old lame said he went out to resolve some issues, but he hasn’t returned yet…” remarked one of the villagers, his arms crossed behind his back as he sighed.
“The old lame’s swordsmanship is unparalleled. What problem can’t he solve with one strike? If it’s serious, he’ll handle it,” chimed in another villager, their demeanor relaxed as they smoked dry cigarettes or sipped tea.
Despite their leisurely appearance, there was something peculiar about them. Some were blind, others had broken arms, some lacked ears, and a few were mute.
At this moment, it was a blind man who spoke, his arms folded across his chest as he expressed his concern for Gu Xian’er, who had been absent from Peach Village for a prolonged period. They remained unaware of the events occurring beyond the confines of the village. Living in seclusion for so long, they had become detached from the outside world.
If they weren’t concerned about Gu Xian’er, they wouldn’t have found themselves pondering the happenings of the world.
“Xian’er carries the legacy of all of us. With her presence outside, who could harm her? Besides, she also has the protection of Senior Taoyao. Let’s not fret,” reassured an elderly man with a broken arm, his smile reflecting unwavering confidence in their shared heir.
“I’m not worried about that. What concerns me is that Xian’er’s premonitions before she left last time might come true, and she’ll return with a sweetheart,” remarked the village chief of Peach Village. Despite his outwardly normal appearance, he lacked a soul—a fact known to those familiar with the village. His words often carried a prophetic weight, earning him the reputation of a harbinger of both good and bad news.
This remark cast a shadow over the group, as the village chief’s words were often regarded as prophetic. While some dismissed him as a harbinger of doom, others believed in the positive outcomes he foretold. However, the matter concerning Gu Xian’er left them feeling as though their cherished cabbage patch had been trampled by pigs.
“Someone is approaching!” exclaimed one of the elderly men, his expression suddenly shifting as he sensed movement among the branches and leaves of the peach tree. All eyes turned towards the distant mountains, where a divine light streaked across the sky, heading towards them.
“Master, Second Master, Third Master, Fourth Master…” At the entrance of Peach Village, a trio stood—a group consisting of Gu Changge, Yaoyao, and Gu Xianer, who had ventured all the way to the Land of Immortal Abandonment.
It was Gu Xian’er who had proposed the journey here, and Gu Changge had not objected. Despite the dangers of the Abandoned Land, traversing it posed no issue for the three of them. Moreover, the big red bird accompanying Gu Xian’er knew the way well, navigating them effortlessly through the terrain.
With a contented expression, Gu Xian’er greeted the masters at the village entrance one by one. Her brows were raised, her eyes curved with happiness.
Meanwhile, a gathering of villagers from Peach Village emerged, comprising men, women, and children, infusing the scene with liveliness. Their joy at Gu Xian’er’s return was palpable.
Several aunts eagerly pulled Gu Xian’er aside, bombarding her with questions and seeking warmth. Some even dared to inquire about her relationship with Gu Changge, who stood quietly at the village entrance.
As Gu Changge observed the peach tree at the village entrance, a strange glint flickered in his eyes. From his perspective, the peach tree appeared much the same as the one displayed on the screen prompted by the system. However, it exuded a sense of serene natural tranquility, lacking the overwhelming power to destroy the world.
Yet, as he gazed at the tree, he felt a reciprocal gaze directed back at him. In truth, it was fixated on Yaoyao standing beside him. The branches and leaves radiated with vibrant hues, exuding a mysterious aura.
However, Gu Changge sensed that something was amiss. Though he could perceive the connection between Yaoyao and the tree, he struggled to recall the details. Perhaps the catastrophic real thunder tribulation that had ravaged the heavens and earth had caused it to forget many things.
Moreover, Yaoyao herself seemed to have noticed the peculiar connection. “Master…” She hesitated, her voice tinged with apprehension as she sought refuge behind Gu Changge, wary of the unsettling situation.
“With Master here, everything will be fine,” Gu Changge reassured Yaoyao, expressing his trust in his own judgment that the mysterious peach tree posed no threat to her. He believed that encountering it might even improve Yaoyao’s condition, especially considering her perpetual struggle with stunted growth.
As Gu Xian’er was about to introduce Gu Changge to the village elders, the village chief of Peach Village interjected, his gaze scrutinizing Gu Changge with the intensity of a watchful guardian.
“Who is this young man, Xian’er?” he inquired, his tone laced with suspicion.
Reminding her of Master’s cautionary words, the village elder continued, “Remember what Master warned you about. When you venture outside, be cautious. These handsome men are often adept at deceiving innocent girls like you.”
Echoing the sentiment, another elderly woman chimed in, her posture stooped with age, her expression tinged with disdain. Why had Gu Xian’er returned to the village after such a prolonged absence, accompanied by a stranger?
They refrained from directly probing into Gu Changge’s background, mindful that Gu Xian’er had brought him along. It would have been impolite to inquire too deeply.
Nevertheless, the elders wore expressions of guarded scrutiny as they assessed Gu Changge, as if wary of potential theft, fearing he might whisk Gu Xian’er away.
The timing of the village chief’s concern about Gu Xian’er bringing home a sweetheart seemed ironically prescient, given Gu Changge’s arrival.
Couldn’t the village chief have spoken something positive for once?
It wasn’t that they opposed the idea of Gu Xian’er bringing someone home; they simply wanted to ensure she wasn’t being deceived.
“Did you bring someone home from your parents’ place, Xian’er?” an elderly lady chimed in, her smile suggesting that the man before her was a handsome and divine match for Gu Xian’er.
Caught off guard, Gu Xian’er blushed, hastily denying the assumption, “Master, what are you guessing? Things are not what you think…”
She couldn’t understand why the elders were making such assumptions. Were they suggesting she and Gu Changge were a good match? But they were just cousins!
Gu Changge’s stoic demeanor finally cracked as he spoke up, “My surname is Gu, seniors, don’t dwell on it too much.”
“Gu… Gu Changge?” The village chief and others were momentarily taken aback, their expressions softening slightly. Given his surname, it was likely that he hailed from the Ancient Immortal family backing Gu Xian’er. Perhaps they were overthinking things.
“Yes, Gu Changge, I’ve met all of you,” he affirmed, his tone unchanged, his expression inscrutable.
“What!?”
“Gu Changge?”
“You’re the… Gu Changge who excavated Xian’er’s Dao bone when she was a child?”
The news struck the villagers like a thunderbolt, leaving them dumbfounded. They couldn’t believe their ears.
Their shock quickly turned to outrage. How dare he show his face here?
The village chief and others’ complexions darkened considerably, their mood turning grim.
Boom!
A terrifying pressure surged forth, accompanied by a vision of horror high in the skies above the Land Abandoned by Immortals. Stars collapsed, disintegrating into dust and powder, shaking the millions of miles around them.
This display of power wasn’t even unleashed at full force, yet its sheer magnitude was enough to inspire awe. These powerhouses had ascended to levels of cultivation so profound that each of their movements could obliterate everything in their path.
