I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 264
Chapter 264: The teacher would dig her out to accompany you; I can’t stand seeing you like this
With these thoughts in mind, Gu Changge settled into a seated position, simultaneously initiating communication with the system, intending to refine the substance using Destiny Points.
Buzz!
Black light began emanating from the top of his head, forming strands that cascaded downward. Interwoven runes of Dao descended toward the black substance while the Dao treasure bottle rose and fell like a terrifying black hole, voraciously consuming it. Its eagerness surpassed any previous encounter—Gu Changge realized it craved this black substance more than even the Reincarnation Seal of the Human Ancestor.
“It seems Destiny Points won’t be necessary,” Gu Changge murmured as he sat cross-legged in the space. A jade-like black light radiated from his face, exuding a solemn aura. The echoes of ancient sacrificial rituals seemed to reverberate in the darkness.
Behind him, a surge of demonic energy overwhelmed the surroundings, accompanied by the presence of an unparalleled demon lord whose gaze was cold and ruthless, dominating the heavens and earth.
Something clicked within Gu Changge’s mind and began to fracture, unlocking some of his most profound memories. He envisioned a scene atop a mountain, where clouds and mist swirled around a simple hut. A young girl in red danced gracefully with a sword. Her sleeves rolled up as the silver light of her blade painted the sky. Beside her stood Gu Changge, hands behind his back, his red coat billowing in the wind, and his silver hair flowing freely. Everything seemed to shift and transform around them, all because of the sword in the girl’s hand.
After her dance concluded, the young girl in red dashed joyfully towards him.
“Master, today I encountered the disciples from Jiutian Peak. They stole my belongings and claimed that my talent was mediocre, suggesting I’d only reach the realm of a true god at best in this lifetime. But I defeated them all,” she exclaimed proudly.
“Who instructed you to defeat them?” His expression remained calm, his voice steady.
The girl in red smiled awkwardly and lowered her gaze. “I was mistaken, Master,” she admitted.
“The sword I imparted to you isn’t meant for vanquishing enemies,” he reminded her, his tone unwavering.
The girl remained jubilant despite returning from her encounter with scars and a collection of heads in hand. “Master, I’m home,” she announced her injuries notwithstanding.
He affectionately patted her head. “Here’s your favorite roast chicken. Jiutian Peak, along with Jiutian Continent, will cease to exist from today onward. No one shall dare to torment my apprentice.”
“Master, I made a friend at the mountain’s base,” she continued.
“Oh? Male or female?” he inquired.
“She’s a woman, but not human,” the girl replied.
“What is she then?” he asked.
“A little peach tree,” she answered.
A smile graced his lips. “Then I shall uproot her to accompany you.”
Soon, atop the mountain stood another slender and pristine peach tree.
With that, his memories abruptly ceased, leaving Gu Changge deep in contemplation.
….
Several days had passed in the outside world in the blink of an eye.
“The decrease in Heavenly Extinction creatures and aura is significant. Could it be that Gu Changge truly has a solution for this?” Wang Ziji marveled, gazing up at the abyss in the sky.
To her perception, the monstrous gray fog within the abyss had noticeably thinned since the outset. What did this signify? This indicates Gu Changge’s genuine ability to confront the situation.
Gu Changge had managed to address the formidable Heavenly Extinction aura, a feat deemed fantastical by all ancient beings. “Throughout history, only the Human Ancestor possessed the means to counter the Absolute Heavenly Extinction,” Wang Ziji contemplated aloud. “Could Gu Changge be the reincarnation of the Human Ancestor?”
This notion left her puzzled. She glanced at Jiang Chuchu beside her, but the latter’s face betrayed no hint of emotion. It remained composed and serene, revealing no discernible reaction.
Over the past few days, Jiang Chuchu’s injuries had nearly healed. Observing the diminishing Heavenly Extinction aura, she concluded that Gu Changge posed no significant threat. As a result, she allowed herself to relax, and her demeanor was calm and collected.
Furthermore, Gu Changge managed to resolve the exceedingly challenging Heavenly Extinction aura, which would have led even her to suspect his identity as the Human Ancestor’s reincarnation.
Suddenly, Jiang Chuchu recalled Gu Changge’s earlier words—that the Human Ancestor Hall lacked not the Human Ancestor himself but his identity. With the Human Ancestor now deceased, the Hall must find his reincarnation to maintain its standing.
Did she truly have to consider finding someone to masquerade as the Human Ancestor? Jiang Chuchu had never entertained such a notion, as doing so would entail betraying her sect. However, she couldn’t shake the thought now.
“Jiang Chuchu, tell me honestly, what transpired between you and Gu Changge?” Wang Ziji’s sudden inquiry cut through the air, addressing the subject that had been weighing on her mind for days.
With her composure regained, Jiang Chuchu knew she couldn’t divulge the whole truth to Wang Ziji. Revealing Gu Changge’s true nature as a practitioner of demonic arts and the falsehood of Prince Ying’s identity would only confuse her friend.
Instead, she replied calmly, “You don’t need to concern yourself with it. Gu Changge is not a good person, and you should stay away from him.”
“That’s it?” Wang Ziji’s eyes rolled. “I confided in you as my best friend, and you won’t even tell me this?”
“I understand Gu Changge isn’t a good person,” she retorted, sensing Jiang Chuchu’s guardedness.
In the past, whenever she broached the topic of men, Wang Ziji’s disdainful expression was unmistakable. How had it come to this?
“Gu Changge is truly dangerous. It’s best to keep your distance from him,” Jiang Chuchu advised softly, her calm demeanor hiding her inner complexities.
“If you don’t want to discuss it, that’s fine. I used to think highly of Gu Changge, but now that you have this mysterious connection with him, I’ll let it go,” Wang Ziji sighed, her expression tinged with sadness.
Jiang Chuchu was taken aback. What did Wang Ziji mean by a mysterious connection with Gu Changge? And why did she insinuate that Jiang Chuchu had feelings for him?
“I don’t!” Jiang Chuchu blurted out defensively, reacting to Wang Ziji’s implications.
Wang Ziji noticed her friend’s reaction and offered a wry smile. “That’s good,” she said cryptically.
At that moment, there was a stir from the previously calm crack in the sky. Gu Changge emerged from it, appearing largely unchanged.
Both Jiang Chuchu and Wang Ziji turned their attention to him, their expressions shifting.
“Are you alright, Brother Gu?” Jiang Chuchu wanted to inquire but hesitated, not wanting to speak out of turn in front of Wang Ziji.
“I’m fine,” Gu Changge assured them. “The matter of Absolute Heavenly Extinction here has been temporarily resolved, but my capabilities can only go so far…”
Shaking his head, Gu Changge wore a slightly enigmatic expression as he glanced at the two of them, choosing not to elaborate further.
Indeed, he had succeeded in refining the source of Absolute Heavenly Extinction. Not only could he control its power, but his Dao treasure bottle had also undergone a mysterious transformation.
However, Gu Changge wasn’t keen on drawing immediate attention to these matters, so he only partially dispelled the remaining Heavenly Extinction aura.
“After witnessing what you’ve accomplished here, I sometimes wonder if you’re the reincarnation of the Human Ancestor, doing what no one else can,” Wang Ziji remarked half-jokingly, a playful glint in her eyes.
“A reincarnation of the Human Ancestor? I believe such a being wouldn’t be someone as insignificant as me,” Gu Changge replied modestly. “As for dealing with Absolute Heavenly Extinction, I simply got lucky…”
“I don’t expect to be so fortunate in the future,” he added with a sigh, seeming unguarded in his response.
With a sharp sound, his sleeve tore open, revealing his injured arm. Gray mist emanated from the wound, corroding his skin and bones in a horrifying display.
Wang Ziji’s expression shifted dramatically at the sight. “Brother Gu, are you being corrupted by the Heavenly Extinction aura?” she exclaimed, alarmed by the severity of the injury.
“Let me take a look,” she continued, disregarding any gender differences and her safety, as she reached for Gu Changge’s arm to inspect the injury.
Jiang Chuchu’s expression shifted slightly, revealing a hint of worry. However, she could only remain on the sidelines, feeling like an outsider. It was evident that Gu Changge’s injuries were inflicted because of her, which left her feeling guilty and uneasy. Yet, Gu Changge didn’t spare her a glance, reinforcing that she only annoyed him.
“Brother Gu’s injury appears to be inflicted by some creature, right? The typical Heavenly Extinction aura wouldn’t be infused with sacred realm laws…” Wang Ziji speculated, her brow furrowing as she examined the wound.
As she spoke, a brilliant immortal light radiated from her palm, pulsing with remarkable vitality.
Chi!
The immortal light seemed to react to the Heavenly Extinction aura, emitting a shrill sound akin to water meeting boiling oil. Gu Changge winced slightly but remained silent, seemingly enduring the discomfort.
“This injury indeed seems to be the result of my negligence and a surprise attack by a creature from the Sacred Realm, but I didn’t anticipate the difficulty in expelling it…” Gu Changge admitted, his complexion growing paler, yet his demeanor remained composed.
“Gu Changge…” Jiang Chuchu began, feeling a pang of discomfort at seeing his condition, but she faltered, unsure what to say.
She hadn’t adequately conversed with Gu Changge beyond calling him despicable and shameless.
“Holy Maiden Chuchu, is something amiss?” Gu Changge glanced at her, his tone casual, devoid of any mention of their past encounters.
Jiang Chuchu sensed the chill in his words, stirring up grievances within her. Despite this, she maintained her composure outwardly. “Thank you for your assistance earlier. Since you’re alright now, I’ll take my leave.”
“I’m fine, so I won’t trouble the holy maiden. If you have the time, perhaps you should concern yourself with the safety of the world. Otherwise, more creatures will fall victim to the inheritor of demonic arts,” Gu Changge’s tone dripped with disapproval.
His words caused Jiang Chuchu’s face pale, but she refrained from saying much. With a glance at Wang Ziji, she transformed into divine light and departed.
“Brother Gu seems to be at odds with Chuchu?” Wang Ziji couldn’t help but inquire with interest.
“It’s simply that I find it hard to reconcile her righteous and upright demeanor with her worldly outlook…” Gu Changge shook his head, speaking calmly.
Afterwards, the two of them also left the area without lingering. Although the sudden reduction in Heavenly Extinction energy and creatures had attracted the attention of many cultivators in the Heavenly Extinction battlefield, few dared to explore its depths. Consequently, only a few paid significant heed to it.
Neither Wang Ziji nor Jiang Chuchu sought to draw attention to themselves. Gu Changge, in particular, preferred to keep a low profile. Presently, Absolute Heavenly Extinction had yet to capture the interest of ancient beings. They would undoubtedly come seeking his aid if they knew his ability to mitigate the Heavenly Extinction aura.
This was a significant event that concerned the entire Upper Realm. Even as the young master of the Ancient Immortal Gu family, Gu Changge would be obliged to cooperate and venture into the Absolute Heavenly Extinction with them if arrested. Naturally, he wanted to avoid such a troublesome situation.
After bidding farewell to Wang Ziji, he returned to his temporary residence in Southern Heaven. Gu Changge sensed the peculiarity of the Heavenly Extinction aura’s power. Upon comparison within his inner universe, he discovered that this power possessed a powerful ability to swallow and envelop space. Many formations seemed feeble in its presence and could be corrupted effortlessly.
Though he had only refined a fragment of the Absolute Heavenly Extinction Origin, its power was sufficient to cover an area of 100,000 miles. Gu Changge now controlled the Absolute Heavenly Extinction within this range, large enough to encompass some smaller realms.
During this period, he received news from Yan Ji regarding the inquiries he tasked her with.
“So, you weren’t at the Divine Sect of the Absolute Beginning after all?” Gu Changge murmured to himself, gaining some insight. He had sent Yan Ji to inquire about Su Qingge at the Divine Sect of the Absolute Beginning. They hailed from the lower realm, so Yan Ji knew them.
The outcome revealed that Su Qingge had departed the Divine Sect of the Absolute Beginning some time ago. Regarding Su Qingge’s two souls, Gu Changge had been monitoring the situation closely, as Su Qingge’s luck point remained unstable.
Su Qingge admitted that occasional memories of the Upper Realm would resurface in her mind. Gu Changge observed that when Su Qingge’s memories awakened, her luck point would increase, suggesting a significant correlation between the two. No conclusive evidence was found despite investigating Su Qingge’s other soul and enlisting his mother’s help.
Gu Changge decided to keep Su Qingge at the Divine Sect of the Absolute Beginning under his mother’s guidance. It was merely a conjecture, but he believed finding Su Qingge’s trace would prove it. Thus, he instructed his subordinates to monitor the significant battlefields in Southern Heaven for any recent developments. If Su Qingge were indeed the inheritor of the mysterious demonic art, she would likely appear in Southern Heaven, especially given the chaos and Prince Ying’s scapegoating of the inheritor of demonic art.
With his current power, locating someone who wasn’t deliberately hiding would be effortless for Gu Changge. If Su Qingge were the one, she would owe him gratitude. So far, only Ye Langtian and Ye Liuli knew about the existence of a second inheritor of demonic arts. However, Gu Changge couldn’t shake off the thought of whether Su Qingge might covet his origin.
Reflecting on Su Qingge’s past behavior, Gu Changge found her intelligence and rationality remarkable. While she initially submitted to him out of fear, her feelings could have evolved. He harbored doubts not about Su Qingge herself but about her other soul. He doubted Su Qingge’s ability to inherit the forbidden demonic arts if there was no other soul.
After several days, as anticipated, Gu Changge received news of Su Qingge’s arrival in Southern Heaven.
