I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 304
Chapter 304: Warm-hearted Gu Changge, don’t bully the poor girl, then I’ll bully you for the rest of your life
Outside the courtyard, Gu Changge strolled, possessed of tall stature, a handsome visage, and a warm smile that exuded an ethereal charm akin to a spring breeze.
His entourage trailing behind him was anything but ordinary, comprising individuals of various races. Among them were members of ancient royal lineages, their bodies crackling with lightning and others adorned with golden horns, all emanating formidable power and an imposing aura.
The leader of the ancient Qinglong Kingdom and his companions couldn’t help but pale slightly, gripped by nerves and fear. It marked their first encounter with the awe-inspiring might of the foremost figure among the younger generation.
Even those walking alongside Gu Changge felt a palpable tension, finding it hard to relax despite their status as rulers of ancient realms.
“Humph,” Gu Xian’er huffed, casting a disdainful glance at Gu Changge, her response a silent dismissal of his query.
“Did Young Master Changge come here suddenly for Qing Xiaoyi?” one of the elders ventured, prompting varying reactions from the gathered group.
“Ah, it’s Young Master Changge…”
Qing Feng’s excitement was palpable as if she beheld the last beacon of hope for her people.
Noticing the ancient weapon adorning Gu Changge, Granny Yinhua nodded thoughtfully before posing a curious question.
“Did Young Master Changge cloak his aura upon arrival, fearing detection?”
The ancient weapon possessed the ability to conceal one’s presence, which had evidently masked Gu Changge’s approach from their notice until now.
The small group was puzzled over why Gu Changge carried an ancient weapon that concealed his aura upon arrival. Did he fear leaving a trace behind?
“No, I’m here for this girl,” Gu Changge declared, his gaze fixed on Gu Xian’er, who wore a cold expression, utterly disinterested in his presence. “I intended to surprise her, but I didn’t anticipate hearing her speak ill of me behind my back.”
“You’re spouting nonsense!” Gu Xian’er retorted. Her disdain for Gu Changge was evident in her glare. When had she ever slandered him behind his back? He was framing her from the moment they met!
“Then who was just now discussing omitting my name?” Gu Changge countered with an agreeable smile.
Caught off guard, Gu Xian’er felt a flush of embarrassment, maintaining a frosty silence. She hadn’t expected Gu Changge to overhear her remarks. Was his idea of surprising her just a pretext for further bullying?
Gu Changge’s cunning and vindictive nature became glaringly apparent to her.
“Let’s hear what conclusions the elders have drawn about my intentions first, and then we can discuss,” Gu Changge suggested, brushing off Gu Xian’er’s icy glares.
Ignoring her hostile gaze aimed like daggers at his back, he approached the three elders with a smile.
The expressions of the elders grew tense, prompting them to take a step back in the presence of Gu Changge. Unlike their demeanor with Gu Xian’er, they couldn’t afford to be as casual.
“It appears Young Master Changge has caught wind of recent events,” Granny Yinhua sighed deeply, her expression tinged with helplessness.
Until the matter was resolved, they found it challenging to confront Zi Yang Heavenly King. Despite their status in the supreme realm, they lacked confidence when faced with a figure whose future achievements were destined to surpass other geniuses.
The paramount concern was the Purple Mansion, an immortal sect they dared not provoke. Regardless of Qing Xiaoyi’s potential, she couldn’t contend with the Purple Mansion, especially given her lack of backing or power.
Considering her youth and vulnerability, who would shield her from potential harm?
Accusing Zi Yang Heavenly King of involvement in Qing Xiaoyi’s abduction without evidence would only needlessly provoke others.
“Well, it seems I arrived just in time and happened to overhear a bit,” Gu Changge remarked with a smile. “It seems I didn’t miss much.”
The three elders exchanged glances, their expressions even more bitter and resigned upon hearing Gu Changge’s words.
They were all human, and Gu Changge’s timely intervention suggested he had fully grasped the intricacies of the situation he had surreptitiously eavesdropped on.
At this juncture, what more could they clarify?
“Young Master Changge is astute. We’ll be forthright,” one elder began. “We possess ample strength in such matters, but we’re hesitant to intervene.”
“It’s not that we lack concern,” another added with a wry smile, secretly hoping to rescue Qing Xiaoyi. He had already used a Rank Nine Resurrection Pill to save Qing Feng and wished for Qing Xiaoyi’s gratitude, perhaps even hoping to become her mentor. Failure in this endeavor would be a bitter disappointment.
Gu Changge nodded upon hearing their words, his smile acknowledging their sentiments.
“I’ve heard from Xian’er about Qing Xiaoyi’s abduction. As her senior sister, she bears responsibility for her oversight,” Gu Changge stated matter-of-factly. “As her elder brother, I cannot forget involvement. Since the elders have already surmised the identity of the kidnapper, you can leave the matter to me.”
“I believe the elders understand the situation well enough. There’s no need for further reminders from me, right?”
“Young Master Changge, rest assured, we know what to do,” one elder assured him.
Their expressions shifted upon hearing this as if they glimpsed a world turned topsy-turvy amidst a flowing ocean. They nodded hurriedly, realizing that Gu Changge indeed intended to intervene. Given his status, he need not fear Zi Yang Heavenly King as they did. They had heard of the animosity between Gu Changge and Zi Yang Heavenly King. Now, presented with such an opportune moment, Gu Changge was unlikely to let it slip away easily.
They couldn’t help but marvel that Gu Changge’s conflict with Zi Yang Heavenly King stemmed from Gu Xian’er. Was it the same now?
Truly, Gu Changge was an enviable elder brother!
At that moment, Gu Xian’er gazed at Gu Changge with a stunned expression on her face. Does Gu Changge agree so swiftly? That wasn’t like him. Shouldn’t he have hesitated first? This led Gu Xian’er to ponder if it was part of Gu Changge’s scheme.
Because of her, Gu Changge had already clashed twice with Zi Yang Heavenly King. On both occasions, he had brought along an entourage, encircled Zi Yang Heavenly King, and administered a severe reprimand, leaving him humiliated and unable to face his disciples after that.
In truth, without her, there shouldn’t have been any friction between Gu Changge and Zi Yang Heavenly King. Contemplating this, a surge of warmth filled Gu Xian’er’s heart. Despite Gu Changge’s penchant for teasing her, he never allowed her to suffer unjustly.
“The conflicts between Gu Changge and Zi Yang Heavenly King have revolved around me each time. No wonder Qing Feng remarked earlier that Gu Changge cares for me so deeply. From an outsider’s perspective, it certainly seems that way.”
“But who witnessed him bullying me…” Gu Xian’er murmured to herself.
“That’s wonderful, thank you, Young Master Changge,” Qing Feng exclaimed with gratitude upon seeing Gu Changge’s swift agreement.
Until now, Qing Feng had believed they inhabited different worlds, and any assistance from Gu Changge stemmed solely from transient pity. In such dire circumstances, he never expected Gu Changge to intervene to protect weaker siblings like them.
But to his surprise, Gu Changge readily agreed without hesitation.
“Young Master Changge is truly compassionate! I had misjudged him before,” Qing Feng admitted, feeling a twinge of shame.
He expressed his gratitude to Gu Xian’er once again. “Thank you, Senior Sister Xian’er.”
Gu Xian’er nodded slightly. “You don’t need to worry. Gu Changge never goes back on his word.”
Gu Changge chuckled. “Since when did you know me so well?”
Gu Xian’er rolled her eyes in response, choosing not to dignify his question with a reply.
“Young Master Changge, this is the Heavenly Palm Bottle. I can’t repay your kindness, but I can…” Qing Feng trailed off, hesitating, before handing over the Heavenly Palm Bottle to Gu Changge.
Now that his body had been subtly enhanced by the Heavenly Palm Bottle, Qing Feng no longer needed to hide like before. He could cultivate like a true prodigy.
While the Heavenly Palm Bottle remained precious, it paled in comparison to his sister’s well-being.
Several elders observed this exchange with heated gazes, but they refrained from commenting further. This was Qing Feng’s voluntary gesture, and no one had coerced him.
“Is this your Heavenly Palm Bottle? But do you think I have any need for something like this?” Gu Changge glanced at it casually, then handed it back to Qing Feng. “Such items are optional for me, but for you, it should prove more beneficial.”
Qing Feng was taken aback by Gu Changge’s dismissal of the valuable Heavenly Palm Bottle.
Witnessing this scene, not only the three elders but even Gu Xian’er herself was astonished. Since when had Gu Changge been so generous? Wasn’t he known for expecting compensation for his good deeds? Would he truly relinquish such a treasure without a second thought?
Qing Feng took a deep breath. “Young Master Changge, you must accept it. Otherwise, I won’t know how to thank you. When you helped us at the mountain gate last time, we didn’t have a chance to repay your kindness.”
“Now that Xiaoyi has been kidnapped, if it weren’t for you, I’m afraid no one would save her,” Qing Feng continued. “Moreover, many people know that I possess the Heavenly Palm Bottle. Do you think I can keep such a precious item? There will surely be cultivators who will try to snatch it, and I might end up losing my life.”
Qing Feng’s reasoning was clear and rational. With the Heavenly Palm Bottle in his possession, he faced constant danger. However, for Gu Changge, it was a different story. No one would dare to challenge him for it.
“So, I’ve saved your life again?” Gu Changge remarked casually, accepting the Heavenly Palm Bottle without further ado. He had anticipated this scenario and knew that Qing Feng would willingly hand it over eventually.
Qing Feng felt a pang of embarrassment. Why did it seem like not only was he giving Gu Changge the bottle, but he also owed him a favor?
Gu Changge waved his hand dismissively. “You don’t need to worry about Qing Xiaoyi. Presumably, the elders brought her life lamp with them, right?”
Granny Yinhua nodded and conjured a bright life lamp in the air. Its stable glow indicated Xiaoyi’s safety, easing Qing Feng’s worries.
“With this life lamp, things become much simpler. I can use a secret method to sense her location once I’m near her,” Gu Changge explained, smiling.
“That’s fantastic!” Qing Feng exclaimed, feeling relieved.
“I’ll leave it to the elders to handle the matter with Zi Yang Heavenly King,” Gu Changge stated, causing Granny Yinhua and the others to feel somewhat helpless.
At this point, their preference was to remain neutral and avoid entanglements. However, Gu Changge’s request left them little choice. After all, he had promised to find Qing Xiaoyi. Could they really refuse?
“Don’t worry, Young Master Changge, we will maintain impartiality and refrain from taking sides. We’ll report everything we’ve witnessed today back to the academy,” the three elders reassured promptly.
“In that case, I’m at ease,” Gu Changge replied with a slight smile.
Following their assurance, the three elders departed without further ado, employing their supreme methods.
They would swiftly relay all the events to the academy, leaving the decision-making process out of their hands.
“Spread the word about Zi Yang Heavenly King’s abduction of Qing Xiaoyi,” Gu Changge instructed his followers, narrowing his eyes as he watched them depart.
With Zi Yang Heavenly King currently absent from the ancient Xuanwu country, Gu Changge felt a sense of relief. Yin Mei’s presence there allowed him to closely monitor various geniuses and track Ying Shuang’s movements.
While Zi Yang Heavenly King pursued Su Qingge’s trail, Gu Changge schemed to spring a surprise upon his return.
“Yes, Master!” his followers responded promptly, each clutching a memory stone. They had already recorded everything as per Gu Changge’s instructions, acting upon the clues discovered by the elders themselves.
Gu Changge knew that without evidence, his accusations against Zi Yang Heavenly King could be perceived as baseless. Yet, he was indeed framing him.
Even if the elders preferred to keep the matter discreet, it was inevitable that it would become public knowledge.
According to the elders’ assertions, even if Zi Yang Heavenly King attempted to refute the allegations, it would be futile.
Shortly after, Qing Feng also departed, intrigued by the unfolding events.
In the courtyard, only Gu Changge and Gu Xian’er remained. Gu Xian’er glanced at Gu Changge with a composed expression, though inwardly, she felt a twinge of unease that disrupted her usual calm demeanour.
“Don’t act like you’re innocent; you have nothing to do with the ethereal fluttering of immortal spirits,” Gu Changge remarked casually, breaking the silence between them.
“I wasn’t pretending…”
“What’s so amusing?” Gu Xian’er snapped, shooting him an irritated glare. In his presence, she struggled to maintain her usual composure, her emotions often thrown off balance by his presence.
“I’m amused because you seem to have a talent for stirring up trouble,” Gu Changge replied, finding a stone bench to sit on. He picked up a teacup and took a sip.
“I don’t need you to worry…” Gu Xian’er began, a hint of disdain on her delicate features. However, upon seeing him drink from her cup, embarrassment flooded her porcelain-like complexion. “Quickly, put down the teacup; it’s mine.”
“No wonder it tasted odd,” Gu Changge remarked calmly, setting down the teacup he had sipped from. “Are you angry lately?”
“You’re the one causing the trouble,” Gu Xian’er retorted, her eyes flashing with coldness. Her words dripped with icy venom, yet she felt a mixture of shame and anger.
After all, Gu Changge had not only drunk from her cup but also expressed distaste for her taste in tea.
“Unpleasant,” Gu Changge shook his head, his expression calm. “But it’s cheap and good.”
Gu Xian’er remained icy cold, drawing her sword with a snort. “Go away, don’t sit on my chair.”
Gu Changge chuckled. “You won’t even let me sit on the chair, yet you called me over. Are you really planning to send me away empty-handed?”
“Gu Xian’er, do you truly think I’m that cheap?” he continued.
“The last time you took advantage of me, I didn’t even demand retribution,” Gu Xian’er retorted, unable to contain her frustration any longer. With an angry wave of her jade fist, she accused, “Gu Changge, why are you so shameless? I’m embarrassed to say it was you who took advantage of me.”
“Oh? And what advantage did I take by solving your problems every day?” Gu Changge countered calmly, rising to his feet and approaching her step by step.
Suddenly, a powerful pressure enveloped Gu Xian’er, akin to a vast and surging galaxy bearing down on her. Frozen in place, she could only watch as Gu Changge drew near.
“I don’t care; my troubles are your troubles anyway!” Gu Changge declared a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“What… what are you doing?” Gu Xian’er stammered, feeling a mixture of anxiety and anger.
Gu Changge grinned, pinching her nose lightly. “What do you think I’m going to do?”
“Ahhh… I’m going to fight you!” Gu Xian’er exclaimed in frustration, her heart filled with a sense of injustice.
But if she truly attacked, she wouldn’t stand a chance against Gu Changge; in the end, she’d likely end up on the receiving end of his palm.
“Gu Changge, I warned you not to torment the poor girl…” Gu Xian’er began, ready to unleash her frustration.
“Then I’ll torment you for the rest of my days,” Gu Changge interjected with a grin, anticipating her impending outburst.
Seeing that she was about to lash out with her sword, he swiftly retreated. In a blink, he reappeared on a distant eave, his form as elusive as a fluttering leaf, leaving no trace behind.
Fuming, Gu Xian’er watched as Gu Changge vanished from sight, left alone to seethe in her courtyard.
“I knew Gu Changge had ulterior motives,” she muttered angrily to herself. “Who asked him to torment someone for their entire life…”
With a final huff, she muttered, “Hmph, serves him right,” before calming herself down.
