I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 331
Chapter 331: The so-called truth about the true immortal ascension, Gu Xian’er took the initiative to show up
“Zi Yang Heavenly King is likely reaching out to the powerhouse of Purple Mansion,” Gu Changge mused with a faint smile as he proceeded alone toward the sprawling mountain range ahead.
During his previous encounter with Qin Wuya, Gu Changge had subtly left behind a trace of his aura, undetectable by ordinary means. This ensured he could easily track Qin Wuya’s whereabouts without alerting him.
While Qin Wuya believed the tracking to be at a third-level proficiency, in reality, Gu Changge’s method was far more advanced, operating at a tenth-level mastery.
Gu Changge had monitored Qin Wuya’s movements throughout these days but refrained from confronting him prematurely, as it would only serve to disturb the situation before he dealt with Zi Yang Heavenly King.
“If the Purple Mansion intervenes, I’ll call upon the Gu family’s support,” Gu Changge contemplated, envisioning the potential outcomes of the impending confrontation.
Strolling amidst the mountains, his demeanor remained composed, displaying a calm attitude devoid of haste.
He harbored no doubt about the significance Purple Mansion attributed to Zi Yang Heavenly King. Born from the Taboo Era and possessing the coveted Hongmeng Dao bones, Zi Yang was destined for greatness.
For Purple Mansion to thrive, it needed Zi Yang’s patronage.
Although hailed as the Supreme Sect, Purple Mansion had yet to produce any immortals. While its origins were enigmatic and formidable, it lacked the formidable presence of immortal lineage.
Zi Yang Heavenly King represented Purple Mansion’s hope of creating an immortal prospect that could elevate Purple Mansion to new heights. Despite knowing that their actions might alienate various Dao forces, Purple Mansion was willing to defend Zi Yang Heavenly King at all costs, even if it meant placing the current sect master under house arrest. This demonstrated Zi Yang’s paramount importance to the Purple Mansion.
Should Purple Mansion persist in opposing him, Gu Changge would have no choice but to enlist the aid of the Ancient Immortal Gu family, his guardians. However, due to the taboo nature of his demonic arts, Gu Changge couldn’t divulge many details, hence why his protector remained with the Gu family until called upon.
Intent on using Purple Mansion as a means of refining his power, Gu Changge had instructed the ancient immortal clans of the Ancient Immortal Continent to be prepared to breach space and launch an attack on Purple Mansion’s territory. Purple Mansion, with its moderate strength, was the perfect candidate for this purpose.
Despite the various forces in the upper realm being referred to as Immortal Sects or Supreme Dao, their origins and capabilities varied significantly. Some possessed true immortal lineage, while others did not, resulting in a substantial and indescribable gap between them.
During this period, Gu Changge delved into ancient texts and merged them with vague memories, clarifying some historical divisions.
He delineated the period of the Demon Lord’s downfall as the beginning of the Forbidden Era. Beyond this boundary lay the Immortal Ancient Era, where true immortals roamed the world, engaging in joyful discussions of Dao and visiting one another.
Figures like the Ancient Heavenly Lord of Reincarnation hailed from this era, which stood in stark contrast to the Forbidden Era, shrouded in secrecy and erased from historical record.
Attempts to trace events from the Forbidden Era often met unknown resistance, hinting at the era’s taboo nature. Following this era, the world saw the disappearance of immortals, with surviving power lines no longer producing immortals.
Various theories circulated regarding the cause, from the heavens’ wrath to the burial of real immortals, leaving behind a world unable to cultivate immortality or follow the path of the immortal Dao.
Rumors varied, offering no singular explanation for the demise of immortality and the end of the Immortal Ancient Era.
The truth that Gu Changge uncovered was that after the Taboo Era, all true immortals were compelled to depart for another world due to inexplicable rules and reasons. This process resembled the ascension he was familiar with, leading to what could be termed a fairyland.
Entities like the Ancient Immortal Gu family had deep ties to this other world, existing even before the Immortal Era and boasting an age surpassing that era. Gu Changge consulted ancient texts seeking clarity on this matter.
Similarly, other Ancient Immortal families, like the Ancient Immortal Wang family, traced their origins to this world, with their ancestors residing there and passing down their inheritance through generations.
In the present Upper Realm, remnants of immortals existed at most, unable to stay for extended periods. The emergence of absolute heavenly extinction sent shockwaves through the Upper Realm, necessitating the establishment of the True Immortal Academy to train future immortals.
“Whatever happened in the Forbidden Era has no bearing on me,” Gu Changge reflected. “At this rate, I should seek more insight from Chan Hongyi.”
His memories continued to resurface, akin to a vast sea revealing its depths or an iceberg slowly emerging. There were many aspects requiring elucidation, including the enigmatic figure of Chan Hongyi, the red-clad witch.
“Hey there, are you alright? Did Gu Changge catch wind of your presence?” Zi Yang called out to Qin Wuya as he approached, his expression a mix of relief and concern. “You’ve been absent for days, and I was worried sick that Gu Changge might have found you.”
Seeing Qin Wuya’s demeanor, Zi Yang realized that Gu Xian’er’s attention had shifted, so he subtly played along, feigning ignorance.
“I’m fine. Almost fully healed now. Gu Changge hasn’t managed to track me down,” Qin Wuya reassured, then subtly inquired, “Has anyone been looking for me during my absence?”
Shaking his head, Zi Yang replied, “No, it’s been quiet. Apart from the occasional passing of geniuses overhead, there’s been no activity.”
They exchanged pleasantries, putting on a show of concern as if they hadn’t seen each other in days, and inquired about each other’s well-being.
Meanwhile, Gu Xian’er remained hidden, observing their interaction intently. Her elegant features contorted into a frown as she sensed something amiss.
Most of their conversation revolved around Gu Changge, with eight out of every ten sentences circling back to him. Their words painted Gu Changge as a formidable and cunning individual, insinuating that he was the true inheritor of demonic arts.
Upon closer listening, it became apparent that Zi Yang Heavenly King and Qin Wuya were subtly hinting to Gu Xian’er that Gu Changge and the supposed inheritor of demonic arts were the same, offering explanations for various doubts and inconsistencies.
As realization dawned on her, Gu Xian’er’s eyes turned frigid, brimming with murderous intent. She saw through their ploy.
“Enough!”
Her voice sliced through the air, cold and sharp, sending shivers down their spines.
Emerging from the concealed void, Gu Xian’er strode towards the ruins ahead, her slender fingers grasping a luminous jade sword, its edge gleaming with an ominous brilliance.
“You… are Gu Changge’s cousin?”
Gu Xian’er’s unexpected appearance genuinely took aback Zi Yang Heavenly King and Qin Wuya. Their shock was genuine, disrupting their planned sequence of events. They intended to locate Gu Xian’er later and then carefully explain the situation if she had overheard their conversation. But now, her preemptive appearance threw a wrench in their plans.
Quickly regaining their composure, Zi Yang Heavenly King and Qin Wuya adopted a wary and hostile stance, fixing their gaze on Gu Xian’er.
