I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 375
Chapter 375: Yue Mingkong’s consciousness as a wife, rounding up demon master Bai Kun
Jiang Chen understood that the tombs of ancient gods in this world differed greatly from those of ordinary Void God and True God realm cultivators. They were a divine race, holding a rare and esteemed position. Within these divine tombs lay opportunities beyond imagination. With his own abilities and the power of the immortal boat, he believed he could harvest numerous benefits.
“Almighty, where did you acquire all these items?”
Just as Jiang Chen was lost in thought, a smiling cultivator suddenly appeared before him. This cultivator, not appearing particularly young, wore a greasy, ragged robe and held a somewhat tattered mantle. He pointed to a few pieces of weapon fragments on the ground stall and inquired.
Without hesitation, Jiang Chen replied, “These are all items I’ve come across.”
“Is that so?” the cultivator responded rhetorically.
Jiang Chen nodded affirmatively, “Indeed.”
“Oh, in that case, it seems the poor cultivator and my brother share a destined encounter. Why not accompany the poor cultivator?” The cultivator spoke with a smile.
“What do you want?” Jiang Chen raised his head, eyeing him warily, discreetly gripping a weapon hidden in his sleeve. The items on the ground stall, despite being his selections, didn’t seem particularly noteworthy. And this cultivator before him clearly anticipated something, evident from his approach.
Upon hearing these words, the cultivator’s gaze lingered on Jiang Chen’s face, assessing his cultivation level. Intrigued, he remarked, “The cultivator possesses remarkable skills. The poor cultivator happens to have something suitable for cooperation with the cultivator.”
“Don’t worry, the benefactor will receive ample rewards when the time comes,” the cultivator assured, sensing Jiang Chen’s apprehension.
Jiang Chu’s heart sank as he sensed the monk’s unfathomable cultivation. What kind of cooperation did he imply, and how did he know?
“A monk never deceives; rest assured, the poor monk speaks the truth,” the monk reiterated earnestly. “If the monk’s words are doubted, then the poor monk can only apologize.”
With this statement, Jiang Chen understood that refusing again might lead to violence from the cultivator before him.
He couldn’t help but muster a bitter smile. “I’m just a commoner peddling these broken trinkets. Why would Master bother with someone like me?”
“No, no, no. In the poor monk’s eyes, Mr. is far from ordinary. Despite your modest cultivation, you ventured into a tomb teeming with horrifying demonic aura and unearthed these weapon fragments. Your methods surpass those of ordinary folk,” the monk insisted, disregarding Jiang Chen’s self-deprecation, his smile unwavering as he highlighted Jiang Chen’s extraordinary qualities.
Jiang Chen’s heart sank at the monk’s astute observations, though he maintained a composed facade. His descent into the tomb had indeed been fraught with peril. The dangers lurking within would have left most cultivators pale, with the looming threat of injury or worse. While he had acquired valuable treasures within the tomb, it had also nearly cost him his life. Were it not for the intervention of the immortal boat spirit, escape would have been nigh impossible.
The monk’s keen perception of this indicated his own exceptional discernment.
Reluctantly, Jiang Chen acquiesced to follow the monk, leaving the stall behind. Its contents held little value anyway.
Led by the monk, they arrived at a grand, imposing mansion around the corner. The guards stationed at the entrance exuded formidable power, adorned with divine radiance and remarkable vitality.
Upon reaching the mansion, the monk’s demeanor grew noticeably more cautious, his previous casualness replaced by a sense of gravity.
“You should refrain from speaking recklessly; even I, as a humble monk, may not be able to shield you,” the monk cautioned Jiang Chen in a hushed tone.
Jiang Chen’s expression grew more cautious. Being drawn into such matters left him feeling stifled.
“Who are we meeting?” Jiang Chen inquired quietly.
“The Supreme God Clan,” the monk responded, casting a meaningful glance back at Jiang Chen before elaborating.
Jiang Chen’s pupils constricted, his expression shifting slightly as he made a sudden connection. Rumors had been swirling for days about an ancient divine tomb set to emerge, causing a stir across the land. Word had it that a formidable member of the enigmatic Supreme God Clan lay interred within this so-called divine tomb. The Supreme God Clan remained shrouded in mystery.
In the entire upper world, they belonged to an exceedingly rare race, with few clansmen to their name. Yet, their title as gods spoke volumes of their power. With a slightly larger clan, they could easily ascend to become the preeminent force in the upper world. And now, the individual Jiang Chen sought to meet hailed from none other than the Supreme God Clan.
This realization caused Jiang Chen’s heart to quicken with an uncontrollable nervousness.
“Mind your words once inside,” the monk reiterated, his unease palpable as he turned back to caution Jiang Chen once more.
Jiang Chen nodded, feeling a cold sweat form on his palms.
In the depths of the mansion, a divine light radiated, illuminating the imposing figure seated at the end. Their gaze seemed to pierce through Jiang Chen, instilling a sense of scrutiny.
As Jiang Chen crossed the threshold into this formidable place, the eyes of a black-robed old man concealed in the lofty heights shifted, but he did not descend to join them.
….
In the True Immortal Academy, as Gu Changge deployed a formidable army to hunt down the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves, a magnificent divine mountain stood prominently amidst the landscape.
Inside the palace, several elders with blurred faces, their forms cloaked in a chaotic aura, convened to discuss important matters.
“This presents an opportune moment for the talented youths of our academy,” one elder remarked. “The emergence of a piece of the Supreme God Clan’s burial ground offers a prime opportunity for exploration.”
“Let us hope for a better outcome this time,” another added. “After the devastation wrought by the Inheritor of demonic arts upon the Absolute Heavenly Extinction, we cannot afford another failure.”
“Perhaps we should appoint the Sixth Crown King, Jun Yao, as the leader for this expedition,” suggested another elder. “With Gu Changge’s ambitions now soaring beyond our academy’s confines, he may not concern himself with such affairs.”
The decision to exclude Gu Changge was not a reflection of his qualifications, but rather a consideration of his indifference towards the opportunity presented by the divine tomb. While it held immense value for the academy’s disciples, it held little significance for Gu Changge.
Once the decision was made and word spread, it ignited a flurry of excitement among the academy’s disciples. The emergence of the divine tomb symbolized both opportunity and peril.
Surprisingly, the leader chosen this time was the Sixth Crown King, Jun Yao, rather than Gu Changge. This decision left many astonished, sparking speculation about Gu Changge’s recent actions. Some speculated that his recent accomplishments had prompted the True Immortal Academy to suppress him, ensuring he wouldn’t dominate within its confines.
However, this conjecture was swiftly dispelled when an elder announced that Gu Changge was not required to participate in the trial. It dawned on many disciples that Gu Changge’s status had transcended that of an ordinary disciple. The gap between them and Gu Changge had widened significantly, creating an invisible barrier. Within the True Immortal Academy, Gu Changge now held a position on par with a group of Supreme Realm elders.
In the ensuing days, the True Immortal Academy bustled with activity. Vibrant hues of divine light pierced the sky, while a palpable aura permeated the atmosphere. Many disciples busied themselves in preparation for the impending trial.
The Sixth Crowned King, Jun Yao, alongside the Heavenly Phoenix Maiden, Gu Xian’er, Yue Mingkong, Jiang Chuchu, and the Jin Chan Buddha, all geared up to enter the divine tomb, each vying for their chance at fortune.
Upon hearing the news, Gu Changge remained indifferent. Just as the elders had surmised, even if he were invited to participate, he would decline. Such trials held little significance for him now, merely a waste of his time.
What piqued Gu Changge’s interest more was the whereabouts of the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves. However, if he heard of any valuable discoveries within the divine tomb, that would be a different story.
“Are you truly uninterested in the divine tomb of the Supreme God Clan?” Yue Mingkong questioned, her tone tinged with puzzlement.
In her recollection, this expedition promised the discovery of a divine position crystal from the Supreme Void God Clan, akin to a supreme Dao fruit. It seemed unlikely that Gu Changge would pass up such an opportunity.
“For now, I’m more inclined to pursue the remaining thief. If something valuable emerges from the divine tomb, then I’ll consider it,” Gu Changge explained with a smile.
Yue Mingkong nodded understandingly. “I’ll keep you informed then.”
With her assurance, Gu Changge felt reassured. “I appreciate your efforts,” he acknowledged with a smile.
Yue Mingkong shook her head slightly. “It’s my duty.”
Although they had not yet formalized their relationship through marriage, she already conducted herself with the consciousness of a wife. With that, she took her leave.
Not long after Yue Mingkong departed, a message arrived.
“Master, we’ve traced the mysterious warlord behind the Thirteen Thieves, and our troops are en route to intercept,” the follower reported respectfully.
Gu Changge rose from his seat, his gaze narrowing with intent. “Where?”
“They’re currently in the ancient city of Northern Marsh. We’ve sealed off the surrounding teleportation formations, preventing any cultivators or creatures from leaving the city,” the follower replied confidently. “Even if that person sprouts wings, they won’t escape our grasp!”
“Excellent. Well done,” Gu Changge acknowledged, nodding in approval.
With a wave of his sleeve, Gu Changge departed the hall. His imposing figure ascended into the sky, creating a space passage and hurtling through the virtual space with tremendous force. His presence reverberated through the heavens with terrifying momentum.
The disciples and elders of the True Immortal Academy watched in astonishment, rendered speechless by the sight. Speculations ran rampant about Gu Changge’s destination and his intentions.
“It’s likely about the remnants of the Thirteen Thieves,” Wang Ziji asserted firmly.
Beside her, Jiang Chuchu cast a calm glance in her direction. “You seem to have a good grasp of Gu Changge.”
Wang Ziji smiled knowingly. “It’s not so much understanding him as it is anticipating his actions.”
“Do you suddenly think you know him better than I do?” she taunted, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
Ignoring the jibe, Jiang Chuchu turned and walked away.
Meanwhile, Gu Xian’er, newly ascended to the sacred realm, watched as Gu Changge departed with a group of followers. After he left, she lowered her gaze, a hint of melancholy lingering in her eyes.
….
In the Northern Marsh Ancient City, a grand and imposing metropolis teemed with a population numbering in the billions. Spanning nearly 100,000 miles, its sprawl resembled a massive beast crawling across the earth, its city walls rising like mountains.
Outside the city’s four gates, ominous dark clouds loomed, obscuring the sky. Amongst them, vibrant feathers danced, divine wings blanketed the heavens, and scales shimmered. A myriad of powerful and fearsome creatures filled the airspace, effectively sealing off all avenues of escape.
Piercing through the clouds and mist, a colossal figure, wreathed in purple lightning and crimson radiance, dominated the skyline. Its sheer presence was awe-inspiring, radiating unimaginable power.
No cultivator or creature dared to venture even half a step beyond the city’s confines, nor could anyone breach its defenses to enter. Disobedience was swiftly met with death; a recent attempt at resistance resulted in instant execution, leaving no trace of body or spirit.
Trembling with fear, the populace cowered, their very souls quaking in terror at the sight before them.
The inhabitants of the Northern Marsh Ancient City found themselves bewildered by the sudden influx of creatures and armies, their minds racing with questions about the unprecedented occurrence. Even the city lord of the ancient city emerged outside the city walls, carefully wiping the cold sweat from his brow, his silence betraying his apprehension. He recognized the master behind the terrifying creatures before him and treaded cautiously, wary of offending them.
Accompanying him were formidable cultivators of the Northern Marsh Ancient City, their powerful presence failing to mask their unease. The once bustling city now lay eerily still, its inhabitants gripped by a pervasive sense of dread.
The force assembled outside the city’s walls was undeniably formidable, its sheer might casting a shadow over the land, eclipsing the sun itself. The specter of destruction loomed large, leaving all in fear of their city’s fate.
“My master has issued a decree. Anyone found harboring the remnants of the Thirteen Thieves will be deemed to oppose him, and will face dire consequences at their own peril,” declared a creature resembling a Yaksha, enveloped in a crimson aura, its voice echoing ominously through the sky.
“Thirteen Thieves? Blast it!”
“Those cursed Thirteen Thieves, they’re trying to drag me down!”
Upon hearing these words, the expressions of many cultivators changed as realization dawned upon them. This sudden upheaval was indeed linked to the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves. The news of Gu Changge’s pursuit and extermination of the Thirteen Thieves had sent shockwaves throughout the Upper Realm.
As for the orchestrator behind this formidable force, there was little need for speculation. Save for Gu Changge, who else in the Upper Realm possessed such immense power to mobilize such a terrifying army for the pursuit of a single individual?
Many cultivators sighed bitterly, resigning themselves to the situation. Since the objective was to hunt down the remnants of the Thirteen Thieves, it had little to do with ordinary folk like them. Having played no part in harboring the thieves, they had little cause for concern, save for the hope of avoiding any collateral damage.
“Fear not, everyone. Now that the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves have surfaced in the Northern Marsh Ancient City, I pledge to assist in their apprehension and provide an explanation to Young Master Changge,” the Northern Marsh city lord reassured, his tone tinged with relief and determination. Deep down, he harbored a personal animosity towards the Thirteen Thieves.
“If only I had known that the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves were hiding in this city, I would have conducted a thorough search myself. There would have been no need to trouble Young Master Changge with such a task. If anyone is found sheltering these criminals, I will not hesitate to bring them to justice!” The Northern Marsh city lord expressed his regret, his tone resolute.
His sentiments were echoed by the other powerful figures behind him, each affirming their commitment to cooperate fully with the search and promising to expose any individuals harboring the remnants of the Thirteen Great Thieves.
The young cultivators witnessing this display of power were astounded. Rarely did they have the opportunity to witness such influential figures in action. Yet, today, in response to Gu Changge’s pursuit of the Thirteen Thieves, they had all gathered and made solemn assurances.
The magnitude of their power was staggering and beyond comprehension.
“With the assurances of the Northern Marsh city lord, we can rest assured. We harbor no ill will towards the inhabitants of the Northern Marsh Ancient City. Our mission is simply to apprehend the remnants of the Thirteen Thieves, and we will not trouble anyone unnecessarily,” declared the creature resembling a Yasha, offering a faint smile.
“Rest assured, we will extend our full cooperation to the search effort and ensure that no suspicious individuals evade capture,” the city lord reassured.
With that, a formidable army descended upon the Northern Marsh Ancient City, commencing a thorough search of every mansion within its bounds.
The atmosphere in the entire Northern Marsh Ancient City was tense, with an air of unease permeating every corner. Fear gripped the populace, each person haunted by the thought that the remnants of the Thirteen Thieves might be lurking nearby.
Amidst this climate of apprehension, within the Spring Breeze Pavilion, Ting Yu Xuan, a once lively place renowned for its smoky willows, now lay eerily quiet.
In the inner chamber, a middle-aged man, his complexion pallid and blood seeping from his cough, sat confined to a wheelchair. His eyes were veiled in black cloth, rendering him blind, while his lower limbs lay limp and useless. His injuries were not ordinary; even the most potent sacred medicines would fail to heal them. Likewise, his vision was lost due to the countless secrets he had witnessed, the repercussions of which would plague him for life.
Beside him stood a young man, his countenance etched with sorrow. “Master, are we just going to wait here to meet our end?” he lamented.
During their time in hiding, anxiety and vigilance had become their constant companions, leaving them feeling like mice trapped in darkness, devoid of any glimmer of hope. The young man couldn’t comprehend why his master, once revered like a deity, was now pursued in such a manner. It seemed as though there was no longer a place for them in the vast expanse of the Upper Realm.
Upon hearing the question, the middle-aged man seemed to aggravate his injuries, coughing up another bout of blood. Yet, he shook his head faintly, his voice betraying a calm resignation, as if he had foreseen this outcome.
“I didn’t anticipate Gu Changge would track me down so swiftly. I had hoped to elude capture for a few more days. It’s all my fault. If not for my greed, none of this would have happened…” The middle-aged man lamented, his tone heavy with regret.
“Master, let’s leave. Take Lian’er with you. Gu Changge’s target is me, not you,” the young man urged, his voice tinged with urgency.
“This is a secret treasure I crafted long ago. Once you both use it, hide in the void and depart silently. No one will be able to detect your presence. Take the opportunity to flee to the demon world and seek out a man named Jun. Give him this bag,” the middle-aged man instructed calmly, producing two items from his robes.
One was an unremarkable-looking bag, while the other was a simple jade talisman. Despite their outward appearance, these items held profound significance. Now, they were being entrusted to the young man and the woman behind him.
The woman possessed a captivating beauty, her figure graceful, her skin as fair as snow, and her shimmering blue hair reminiscent of diamonds. Though her expression betrayed a hint of reluctance, she remained silent, acquiescing to the plan.
“Master, what will you do if we leave? You’re gravely injured. If Gu Changge apprehends you after we depart, it will be a dead end!” The young man’s voice trembled with sadness, his eyes welling up with tears.
“Master, you’ve obtained the true essence of life. Even without being a master, you can still live a fulfilling life. There’s no need to sacrifice yourself for the sake of being a master,” he pleaded, his words tinged with desperation.
The middle-aged man’s smile held a hint of relief, yet his resolve remained steadfast. There was no room for debate.
“Lian’er, my dear… I’m deeply ashamed of how I’ve treated you and your mother. I haven’t come to see you over the years not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t bear to hurt you,” he confessed, his voice heavy with regret.
“It’s been hard on you, building the Spring Breeze Pavilion all by yourself…” he continued, his gaze shifting towards the beautiful woman. Though he couldn’t see her, he could sense his daughter’s presence, and it brought him some solace.
Little did anyone know that the mastermind behind the notorious assassination organization, the Spring Breeze Pavilion, was none other than the daughter of this demon master, Bai Kun.
