I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 413
Chapter 413: If you knew it why bother just now, are you questioning me?
“Gu Changge…” Jun Fan’s voice trembled with shock. “How can my sister be in your hands?”
He hadn’t expected Gu Changge to tear up his golden decree the moment he appeared. Jun Fan’s eyes widened in disbelief as he saw Gu Changge holding his sister, Jun Ruoxi.
But Jun Ruoxi was in a terrible state. A horrifying wound nearly severed her neck, blood flowing unabated, defying any attempts to staunch it. Her complexion was pallid, her usual vitality drained.
“Thank you for this,” Gu Changge remarked coolly, tossing Jun Ruoxi onto the ground. “If you hadn’t led the way for me, I wouldn’t have found your sister.”
As Jiang Luoshen, Tian Ze, and other formidable allies gathered behind Gu Changge, they encircled the group, brandishing an array of deadly weapons, exuding formidable power.
“You’re too shameless to even admit it. If it weren’t for your malicious intentions, why would you do this?” Jun Fan’s voice trembled with fury, his fists clenched tightly, his eyes icy.
“Who else can you blame but yourself for being so naive?”
In Gu Changge’s grasp, the Xuan Yang Heavenly Sword materialized, its edge resting against Jun Ruoxi’s neck. Gu Changge spoke casually, “You can try to see if you can escape faster, or if my blade is quicker.”
“If you attempt to flee like this, your sister’s head may roll at any moment.”
“Why do you have the Xuan Yang Heavenly Sword? Could it be that you’ve already killed Uncle Ye?”
“Bai Lian’er belongs to you, and she was the one who accompanied me at the time…”
“If I hadn’t trusted her, my sister wouldn’t be suffering now.”
“I truly despise you!”
The sight made Jun Fan’s eyes widen in anguish, his hands balled into fists, teeth grinding together in sheer rage.
Never had he imagined that this incident would lead to Jun Ruoxi being captured by Gu Changge, her life now hanging by a thread.
He still remembered what Jun Ruoxi had said back then, confident she had a plan and wasn’t worried about being discovered. Yet now, she had fallen into Gu Changge’s clutches, her fate hanging in uncertainty. Jun Fan couldn’t bear to think if his sister had endured torment at Gu Changge’s hands during this time.
The sudden turn of events left him reeling, his head swimming and vision darkening.
“I told you to hand over the key. Maybe there was a chance for you to survive, but now, no one can save you,” sneered Bai Lian’er.
Jun Yao and Song Youwei watched the scene in shock, especially Song Youwei, who felt a deep unease. She knew well that Empress Xi Yao, though ostensibly ruling the demon world, was merely a puppet propped up by Gu Changge. Behind the scenes, she was tightly controlled by him. Song Youwei couldn’t believe that Gu Changge hadn’t orchestrated and arranged everything regarding the pacification of the King of Chaos.
Now, being allied with Jun Fan, Song Youwei feared Gu Changge might consider her complicit, eventually implicating her father as well.
“Bufan, don’t worry about me. Enter that portal to find father. Only he can save you and avenge me.” Jun Ruoxi’s voice was weak yet resolute, her face drained of color as she shouted at Jun Bufan. When Gu Changge captured her, she had already resigned herself to death.
She understood that once Gu Changge had her in his grasp, there was no hope for her or Jun Bufan. Asking for mercy from Gu Changge was futile.
“Elder sister…” Jun Fan’s voice cracked with sorrow, his face reflecting his anguish. He couldn’t bear the thought of sacrificing his sister to save himself.
The portal beckoned just behind him, tantalizingly close. He could escape through it in an instant. But doing so would mean condemning Jun Ruoxi to death at Gu Changge’s hands.
Caught in a dilemma, Jun Fan felt paralyzed, especially with others nearby whose lives hung in the balance because of him.
“Give me the key, and I can spare the lives of your brothers and sisters, as well as everyone here,” Gu Changge stated calmly. “My patience is limited. You have three breaths to decide. After that, I will kill one person with each breath.”
Jun Fan’s anger boiled over. His teeth clenched, his body trembling with fury. “Gu Changge, don’t push it!”
“Are you questioning me?” Gu Changge’s tone remained casual as he gestured with his fingers. Instantly, the person in front of him exploded into a mist of blood, body and spirit obliterated on the spot.
The onlookers were petrified, their backs chilled, faces pale with terror. The recent display of the golden decree’s power paled in comparison to Gu Changge’s effortless destruction of life before them.
They had witnessed the decree’s formidable might, yet it was effortlessly torn apart by Gu Changge. His strength was incomprehensible, his presence chilling to the core.
Even if they had wanted to escape, hopelessness loomed over them. If Jun Fan didn’t relent, today would mark their inevitable demise.
Desperation gripped everyone, including Song Youwei, whose usually composed demeanor faltered in the face of Gu Changge’s ruthless resolve. She could now see Gu Changge’s true nature clearly.
Jun Yao, too, couldn’t help but tremble inwardly at the sight before her. The contrast between the refined, charismatic youth she knew from the imperial capital and the merciless figure of Gu Changge was stark and unsettling. Despite knowing Gu Changge wouldn’t kill her, she dared not meet his gaze, her heart and soul quivering.
The overwhelming power emanating from Gu Changge felt like a chilling, oppressive abyss hanging over them all.
“I’ll give you the key, Gu Changge,” Jun Fan finally spoke through gritted teeth, his expression a mix of struggle and pain. His eyes turned red with defiance, akin to a cornered beast on the brink of despair.
“But you must swear that your words hold true. Otherwise, even if I die, I won’t give it to you.”
He couldn’t abandon everyone.
And Jun Fan wasn’t certain that fleeing through the door behind him would evade Gu Changge’s grasp. His greatest hope rested on his father, the Xuan Yang Demon Emperor. If Gu Changge pursued him through the portal, would his father prove too formidable an adversary, regardless of Gu Changge’s strength?
After deliberating, Jun Fan reluctantly decided to hand over the key and buy some time.
“If you knew this, why resist just now?” Gu Changge smiled faintly. “No problem, I swear. Your life holds little value to me.”
Without further ado, Gu Changge made his solemn oath before Jun Fan and the others, pledging with the utmost sincerity of Dao. He vowed not to harm them; should he break this oath, heaven and earth would punish him.
Jun Fan visibly relaxed upon hearing this oath. In the cultivation world, swearing with the heart of Dao was the gravest pledge one could make. It bound one’s cultivation heart with a weight that even heaven and earth recognized.
Those behind Jun Fan breathed a collective sigh of relief, though their fear of Gu Changge kept them silent.
“Here is the key. I trust you’ll keep your word,” Jun Fan said, reluctantly handing over the key to Gu Changge. In his heart, he still harbored a faint hope that Gu Changge could somehow be restrained, allowing him a chance to escape.
“There’s nothing particularly surprising about it; it appears to be the scales of some kind of monster,” Gu Changge remarked, glancing at the material with a hint of surprise. The substance was evidently formidable; despite exerting his physical power earlier, he hadn’t managed to destroy it, nor had it reacted in any discernible way.
Without further ado, Gu Changge extended his palm and struck Jun Fan in the abdomen, swiftly sealing his spiritual sea and cultivation base.
“You…” Jun Fan’s expression twisted in shock and anger. He hadn’t anticipated Gu Changge would go so far as to seal his cultivation.
“Keep an eye on them,” Gu Changge instructed Jiang Luoshen and the others dismissively before stepping into the portal.
The key in his hand emitted a radiant glow, its intricate lines visibly reactivating. Within the glow, a faint image of a monstrous entity materialized within the virtual space, exuding an aura of enigmatic power that could rend this realm apart at any moment.
“Could this be the legendary mirror demon…” Gu Changge mused, squinting as a ripple-like aura spread out before him, akin to water’s surface disturbed by ripples.
As he stepped through, the portal shimmered brilliantly before returning to its original state.
After Gu Changge vanished through the portal, a collective sigh of relief escaped everyone. Jun Fan hurried over to assist Jun Ruoxi, but Bai Lian’er swiftly waved her sleeve, sending him crashing into the mountainside.
“What are you doing?” Jun Fan’s face contorted with anger as he struggled to rise. His cultivation sealed by Gu Changge, he was powerless to resist.
“It’s nothing. I just want you to stay put and behave,” Bai Lian’er replied nonchalantly, seating herself on a nearby stone. She pondered aloud, “I wonder what Gu Changge will find upon entering—whether an exit here or through the Gate of Life.”
“I have a feeling we won’t need to wait long,” she added cryptically, aware of the rumors surrounding the Gate of Life and the Gate of Death. The Gate of Death before them served only as an entrance, while the Gate of Life served as the exit.
Jiang Luoshen ignored her, instead glancing at Jun Yao, Song Youwei, and the others. She instructed the gathered powerhouses, “Keep a close watch on them.”
With that command given, Jiang Luoshen approached the portal, eyeing the crimson mist within with a furrowed brow.
She recognized the aura as Skeleton Spirit, a type of spiritual energy that only emerged after a powerful monster perished and cultivated in the heavens. It was notorious for polluting meridians and organs, detrimental to spiritual cultivation and capable of causing decline in practitioners.
Encountering Skeleton Spirit aura here surprised Jiang Luoshen. It suggested that a formidable monster had met its end beyond the Gate of Death.
“The world within the Gate of Death is never straightforward,” Jiang Luoshen murmured, shaking her head. Her concern shifted unexpectedly to Gu Changge’s well-being.
Outside the gate, the landscape drastically shifted as Gu Changge stepped into the unknown. He immediately sensed something amiss—the pervasive aura of death, intensified by the crimson mist, seemed to assail his being.
With a subtle surge of his spiritual energy, Gu Changge disrupted the red mist, causing it to shriek horrifically before dissipating into ash.
The sky here bore no resemblance to the Demon World outside. Bleak fog veiled the surroundings, with numerous mountain peaks shattered and strewn about. Evidence of past battles scarred the terrain with large cracks and remnants of ancient conflicts.
“The origin of the Demon World lies within this space. It appears the six emperors have known no peace for the past six thousand years,” Gu Changge muttered to himself as he stepped into the void, disappearing instantly. He followed the lingering traces of this realm, searching for the hidden presence of the six demon emperors.
From the signs of past conflicts etched in the surroundings, it was clear the six emperors were not in harmony.
“The origin of the world is singular, influencing the fortunes of the Demon World. Among the Six Emperors, it can sustain the cultivation and insights of only two or three individuals. Hence, differences in opinion are inevitable…”
“If I’m correct, this red mist should be the essence left behind by a deceased demon emperor. Its profound spirituality drives it to consume the flesh and blood of the living.”
“Once a demon emperor falls, matters become more manageable.”
Gu Changge’s eyes flickered with black and white hues, his perception akin to witnessing the dawn of creation itself. He discerned the chaotic energies surging, the cycles of reincarnation unfolding, and the catastrophic collapse of stars.
This vast divine power enabled him to delve into the myriad traces and transformations of this place, glimpsing scenes from epochs past.
There were fragments embedded in the long river of time, capturing scenes from this place. Despite Gu Changge’s current limitations in fully tracing the river of time, he managed to glimpse certain pivotal moments.
To verify his suspicions, Gu Changge retrieved the Hongmeng Purple Mirror and performed a deduction. Faint images materialized, confirming his conjecture.
“Indeed, a demon emperor has fallen…” Gu Changge’s voice echoed softly as he watched the cataclysmic war that had ravaged this space in the past.
Although the Hongmeng Purple Mirror could only be used once every half month, its power allowed him to trace even the existence of beings in the Emperor Realm. In the battle among the Six Emperors, the last remaining individual had perished, while two others had escaped into this space to seek refuge. The remaining three had allied, biding their time for the origin of the world to mature.
“The two who fled must be the Xuan Yang Demon Emperor and the You Yue Demon Emperor. Their companions were besieged and killed, leaving them gravely wounded…”
From his analysis of the battle scenes, Gu Changge deduced that the Xuan Yang Demon Emperor stood in the Emperor Realm, whereas the You Yue Demon Emperor was merely in the Quasi-Emperor Realm, indicating a significant power disparity.
With this understanding, Gu Changge swiftly formulated a plan. He aimed for the origin of the crimson mist, accelerating through the vast expanse of space.
In an instant, he traversed countless distances, arriving at a distant location.
“Someone has entered…”
Simultaneously, in a majestic mountain located far from Gu Changge, numerous stone caves dotted the landscape. Each cave bore Daoist runes glowing with radiant brilliance that pierced the heavens, casting an immortal light in all directions.
Within these caves, three formidable, indistinct figures sat cross-legged. Their eyes exuded profound depths, and their auras were so potent that they caused the very fabric of reality to tremble. Even beings of supreme stature would be reduced to mere blood mist in their presence.
Nearby, a profound abyss yawned, emitting wisps of immortal light and other essences that diffused outwards, refined and absorbed by the figures.
Among them, one figure spoke, his eyes deep with myriad scenes evolving and merging into the world around them. His aura, the most formidable of the three, seemed to envelop the entire cosmos.
“Could Xuan Yang have found an ally?” Another figure spoke, their golden eyes blazing like twin suns. Seated cross-legged, their aura extended across every inch of space.
“I’m not sure. There was a slight disturbance earlier; he was probing our whereabouts. This individual might not be ordinary,” the speaker continued. Divine brilliance surged around them, turbulent like an ocean in storm.
“When the origin of the world reaches maturity, Xuan Yang and You Yue will undoubtedly make their move and appear here,” they predicted calmly. “We simply need to await their emergence. Those who entered recently, even if they are Xuan Yang’s allies, pose no threat.”
Turning to another figure named Chi Xiao, they asked, “Chi Xiao, how confident are you in defeating Xuan Yang this time?”
In response, Chi Xiao, draped in a thick, blood-colored fog, opened his mouth. His eyes flickered, unleashing visions of an endless sea of blood where mountains crumbled, rivers dried, stars fell, and countless lives perished. Emerging from this sea, Chi Xiao embodied the might of a blood demon, once revered as the Blood Demon Emperor throughout the Demon World.
“Six thousand years ago, I nearly perished at the hands of Xuan Yang and You Yue,” Chi Xiao’s voice resonated with bitter determination, his eyes ablaze with unyielding vengeance. “Now that my injuries are healed, I seek nothing but revenge!”
“They must be certain of their doom if they dare to appear,” he vowed grimly. “They promised secrecy back then, yet they plotted against me, even leaving messages to their offspring to finish what they started. This debt must be repaid!”
The demon emperor Chi Xiao’s cold words reverberated with murderous intent, shaking the very foundations of the world.
Meanwhile, Gu Changge had located the origin of the crimson mist. Standing atop a mountain peak, he surveyed the scene before him with contemplation.
“Is this the corpse of a demon emperor?” Gu Changge murmured thoughtfully. “It’s a pity I arrived a moment too late; much of its essence has dissipated. Nonetheless, I can salvage what remains…”
The sight was awe-inspiring. Before him lay the colossal body of a monstrous creature resembling an ox, its massive form stretching into the heavens with no end in sight. Its presence shattered surrounding peaks and tore open countless rifts in the earth. Standing in its shadow, Gu Changge appeared as insignificant as a speck of dust.
This was the body of a monster in the Quasi-Emperor Realm.
Many creatures in the demon world possessed bodies that differed greatly from their usual forms. Empress Xi Yao, for instance, embodied the rare You Yue Deer, a sight seldom seen in the Upper Realms.
“At least seven essences have dissipated over the past six thousand years…” Gu Changge sighed softly, shaking his head in reflection. With a whistle, a black light shot forth from the sky, coalescing into a river-like galaxy that enveloped the colossal body before him.
Divine radiance emanated faintly from Gu Changge’s form, manifesting as small vortexes where ancient gods sat cross-legged, their chants resonating through the cosmos, consuming heaven and earth. Refining the essence of the fallen monster would not take long for him.
“Almost breaking through to the late stage of the Quasi-Supreme Realm…” Gu Changge assessed his progress before rising to his feet and turning in another direction. His intent was clear: locate the hiding place of the Xuan Yang Demon Emperor and the You Yue Demon Emperor.
During his deductions earlier, he had already gained a general sense of their whereabouts. Now, he aimed to pinpoint their exact location.
