I Spread Pokemon All Over the World - Chapter 43
Chapter 43: Bullying honest people, right?
The creature had horns resembling electrical outlets on its head, two long arms, an oval-shaped body, short legs, and a yellow body with black markings.
“It looks… like it has a mischievous vibe?” Ruan Xinyi tilted her head, observing the Voltorb that Guxin led out from the booth. Was it because of its sharp teeth or its slanted eyes? There was just something naughty about it.
“Voltorb is a rather assertive type of creature. Most Voltorb tend to yearn for strength and power,” Guxin explained. “They also have a strong affinity for collecting electricity. If any other creatures try to compete for electricity with them, Voltorb won’t back down—even if it leads to fights.”
“So, sir, you need to be especially cautious during thunderstorms,” Guxin crouched down and rubbed the top of Voltorb’s head, smiling at Ruan Xinyi.
“As soon as Voltorb hears thunder, it gets especially excited. No matter how strong the storm is, it will want to go outside and play.”
Indeed, Voltorb was such a kind of creature. Their nature was quite different from the gentle creatures like Bulbasaur. Especially among Electric-type Pokémon, which tended to have a habit of collecting and storing electricity, there were often instances of Electric-type Pokémon fighting each other over electricity in the wild.
Voltorb’s “arch-nemesis” was likely Electrode, and their battles for electricity were even documented in the Pokédex, showing how famous these conflicts were.
“Don’t worry, boss. I’ll take good care of Voltorb,” Ruan Xinyi reassured Guxin, patting his chest.
“Voltorb, from now on, he’ll be your trainer. You two should get along well,” Guxin smiled lightly and pointed at Ruan Xinyi, who looked curiously at Voltorb.
“Beep~” Voltorb let out a light sound, looking Ruan Xinyi up and down.
“Please guide me, Voltorb. Let’s become stronger together,” Ruan Xinyi extended his hand warmly, thinking it was appropriate to say something like that.
“Beep~!” Seemingly satisfied with Ruan Xinyi’s words, Voltorb’s eyes narrowed into crescent shapes. It raised its small paw and shook hands with Ruan Xinyi.
Zap!
A burst of golden electric currents instantly surged, causing Ruan Xinyi’s body to stiffen.
“I almost forgot to mention, when Voltorb is excited, you should be careful of the electric currents it might unconsciously release.”
“Boss… why didn’t you say that earlier?”
Feeling a bit numb all over, Ruan Xinyi felt quite aggrieved.
“It’s harmless, at most. It’ll just give you a little shock,” Guxin chuckled and waved his hand. Many Pokémon had unique ways of expressing affection or happiness, like the classic examples from the anime with Ash’s Pokémon.
“Beep~ Beep beep~”
Seeing his trainer pretending to be nonchalant, Voltorb covered its mouth and giggled. It seemed like it was playing a little prank.
“Well, its personality does seem quite outgoing,” Guxin nodded with satisfaction, looking at the energetic Voltorb.
Ruan Xinyi: “…”
Isn’t this more than just outgoing?
Observing the Voltorb that kept glancing around, Ruan Xinyi couldn’t help but think that this little creature had a somewhat troublesome personality. She wondered if her brother could manage it.
“Beep~ Voltorb, Electric type, the Electric Pokémon.
Ability: Static
Moves: Thunder Shock, Charge Beam, Spark”
Ruan Xinyi’s enthusiasm had been electrified by the experience of getting his first Pokémon. He admired the feeling of strong thunder and the flashes of pale light that emitted between Voltorb’s horns while it stored electricity within its body.
As the mechanical synthesized voice from the Pokédex faded, Ruan Xinyi couldn’t help but beam with satisfaction as she closed the device. She had just added another entry to her Pokédex.
“Boss, I’d like a Pokédex too, and also, give me ten boxes of energy cubes for Voltorb,” Ruan Xinyi said after feeling the numbness in his body slowly subside. It appeared that Voltorb was indeed quite lively; it had greeted its trainer in a unique style.
“Sure, give me a moment,” Guxin headed towards the front counter.
“Pokédex, energy cubes, rookie trainer’s manual, and the commemorative ball as one of the top ten new customers,” he listed as he retrieved each item and handed them over to Ruan Xinyi.
“Twenty-three thousand for Voltorb, five hundred for the Pokédex, three thousand for ten boxes of energy cubes, totaling two hundred and thirty-three thousand five hundred yuan.”
“Credit card. Also, boss, let’s become friends,” Ruan Xinyi swiped his card and requested to add Guxin as a friend. He was genuinely interested in Pokémon battling, and having Voltorb, a strong-willed personality, was a great match for him.
Meanwhile, like his sister, Ruan Xinyi threw the commemorative ball toward Voltorb. Voltorb didn’t resist, merely shaking twice before calming down. Voltorb also accepted Ruan Xinyi, though this approval might only be temporary.
“It’s truly amazing. This is simply unscientific!” Ruan Xinyi marveled as he picked up the commemorative ball. It was illogical that such a small ball could contain a Voltorb. Even though he had seen it with his own eyes, it still felt surreal. This technology was just too advanced!
“Alright, I’m adding you to the group,” Guxin said, adding Ruan Xinyi as a friend and inviting him to the group chat.
Group Owner Guxin Boss invited ‘The Most Honest Kid’ to join the group chat.
Opening the group members’ profiles, Ruan Xinyi was stunned when he saw a particular member.
From Cutie to Beauty: Oh my, another new person? Boss, business is booming today!
This lady is a Campus Beauty: Send red envelopes, send red envelopes! Newcomer, send a red envelope!
He’s a Majestic Fox: Newcomer’s photo, new Pokémon’s photo!
Larvitar Is Not a Foodie: Ah, is that… Little Xiu?
Bird Lover: Send red envelopes, send red envelopes! Newcomer, send a red envelope!
Upon seeing Birds of a Feather’s message, Ruan Xinyi immediately turned to look at Ruan Xinyi, who was beside him.
Staring…
Ruan Xinyi pretended she didn’t see anything and earnestly fed Bulbasaur.
Ruan Xinyi let out a sigh. Oh, what a scheming sister he had. While he was usually quite frugal, he was in a good mood today.
Ding~ The Most Honest Kid has sent a lucky red envelope.
0.5 seconds later, your red envelope has been snatched.
0.5 seconds??
Ruan Xinyi was shocked. He had just sent it, and it was already gone?
From Cutie to Beauty: Damn it! I was first. Why does Boss always have the best luck?
Guxin Boss: Missed out? Newcomer, send another one.
This lady is a Campus Beauty: Missed Out? Newcomer, send another one.
He’s a Majestic Fox: Missed out? Newcomer, send another one.
Larvitar Is Not a Foodie: Missed out? Newcomer, send another one.
Bird Lover: +1.
“…”
Are you guys talking nonsense? Are you bullying the newcomer? What kind of group is this?
