I, the creator of the evil god! - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: The Yellow-Clad One Becomes a Nightmare
Stars sparkled in his eyes — was this the secret of Morning Star?
Seeing this, Lu Yu pondered the true meaning of Morning Star.
But the starlight in Li Cheng’s eyes lasted only a moment before fading like a shooting star.
He slowly stood up and noticed Ghost Bear lying on the ground. With his experience, he quickly deduced what must have happened.
That guy must’ve thought I was being harmed and impulsively said something wrong.
Li Cheng sighed inwardly. After confirming that Ghost Bear was merely suffering from disrupted blood flow, he breathed a sigh of relief. Then he respectfully bowed to Lu Yu, his expression filled with emotion.
“Sir, you recognized at a glance that my practice follows the Yin-Yang Duality Rite, and you directly pointed out the profound truth of mutual creation between existence and non-existence, difficulty and ease.
‘Existence’ and ‘non-existence’ are relative; so are ‘difficulty’ and ‘ease.’ The ultimate meaning is that existence eventually leads to non-existence, and Yin and Yang follow the same principle.
Everything has its opposite. A change in perspective yields different answers.
I had been fixated on enhancing their destructive power but never considered extending their limits and allowing mutual transformation.
Thanks to your insight, I broke through my bottleneck and advanced to mid-level Morning Star. This kindness is too immense — I don’t even know how to express my gratitude.”
Yin-Yang Duality Rite?
Spiritual Ascension?
Is this the cultivation system of this world?
Lu Yu was utterly baffled. He knew about Yin-Yang and Taiji theory — every Chinese person did — but what was this “Rite”? How was it different from a ritual?
He felt like an elementary school student who had accidentally stumbled into a classified research facility, succeeding through sheer luck but not understanding a single thing being discussed.
Since the misunderstanding worked out in his favor, he decided to roll with it:
“Just a small suggestion.”
“If such small suggestions can help me, I’m willing to listen for a lifetime and stay by your side!”
Li Cheng gazed at Lu Yu with admiration. This was true strength — casually speaking a few words that triggered a breakthrough. If he could stay close, he might even reach the Morning Star pinnacle.
Who wants to hang out with a 200-year-old geezer forever!
Lu Yu mentally complained. On the side, Xu Xiaoqing and Ma Yang struggled to suppress their laughter.
Realizing the awkwardness of his words, Li Cheng quickly clarified:
“I meant if you ever need me, I will serve you without hesitation!”
“No…”
Lu Yu instinctively wanted to refuse. The more contact he had, the more likely his identity would be exposed. But just as he was about to speak, he changed his mind:
“I don’t need you.”
Li Cheng felt somewhat disheartened. A mid-level Morning Star expert like him was still deemed unworthy.
But Lu Yu’s next words filled him with joy:
“I have matters to attend to, but a younger acquaintance of mine might need your help.”
Lu Yu had considered this carefully. If his true identity as something less than a Radiant Moon-level powerhouse were exposed, he would attract unwanted attention. It was better to keep this identity hidden, serving as a deterrent — a sword of Damocles hanging over potential enemies while he integrated into the Awakened world under a more legitimate identity.
But that plan would have to wait.
“I will do my utmost to care for them!” Li Cheng promised, his face lighting up. Looking after a protégé implied a deeper relationship. This trust could one day lead to personal mentorship.
He handed Lu Yu his business card. Lu Yu nodded and ordered his shadow servant to take it.
After some casual conversation, Lu Yu noticed a glimmer of light on the horizon — dawn was approaching.
Staying any longer would expose him to daylight, weakening his shadow powers and risking his identity.
He rose and calmly announced:
“It’s late; I must leave.”
Li Cheng and the others respectfully nodded.
“Farewell, Master. If your protégé ever needs anything, call the number on the card — it’s my private line.”
Ma Yang also extended a business card, speaking humbly:
“I, too, am willing to offer any assistance within my power.”
Xu Xiaoqing added earnestly:
“I still owe you 99,999 Spirit Coins. If you ever need me, just call — I’ll come right away!”
On-call service, huh?
Lu Yu glanced at her impressive figure. His thoughts briefly drifted toward less-than-wholesome scenarios before he dismissed them entirely.
With a slight nod, he turned and left the courtyard, passing through the now-silent night market. Reverent gazes followed him until he disappeared into the dark streets, becoming one with the shadows.
Tonight was destined to be anything but peaceful.
The Yellow-Clad King would become a nightmare etched into many minds.
