Chapter 43: Ye Xiu, the incarnation of the Taoist?
“Lunar star Xihe (Changxi)… I extend my greetings to my benefactor.”
In the tranquil and secluded cave, a gentle and melodious voice resonated. It was like the song of a nightingale, and its echoes lingered in the air.
“Xihe, Changxi? Are you the two beings who, on that day, had just awakened their consciousness on the lunar planet?”
Ye Xiu’s memories flooded back through the ages. He recalled that he had once stumbled upon the Taiyin star during his journey through the ancient universe. There, he discovered two nascent Taiyin entities in an unstable state. On a whim, he had infused them with the most rigid and yang energy to help stabilize their origins and accelerate their path to Taoism. For this reason, Xihe and Changxi referred to him as their benefactor. This event had occurred so long ago that Ye Xiu had nearly forgotten about it.
Ye Xiu couldn’t help but be surprised when he saw the two elegant, slender, and beautiful women before him. However, his minor intervention that day had imprinted their minds with the image of a peerless figure, even before their spiritual wisdom had fully formed. To this day, he had injected a trace of pure yang essence into them and remained within their bloodline. The concept of the interplay between yin and yang, symbolized by their connection to Ye Xiu, had left them captivated and secretly in love with him. Other men didn’t compare in their eyes, even the heavenly emperor himself, who had once come to Taiyin seeking marriage but had been resoundingly rejected.
“The passage of time and circumstances have changed. I didn’t expect you both to have achieved Taoism…”
Although their meeting had been brief, Xihe and Changxi were enlightened by Ye Xiu, and he smiled with contentment.
“Thank you, benefactor, for the enlightenment you provided that day. It allowed my sister and me to attain Taoism. Your great kindness is something we will never forget.”
“We implore our benefactor to accept us as disciples. We, the two sisters, are willing to serve you always, as your devoted students and servants, working tirelessly without complaint.”
With a glint of determination in their beautiful eyes, Xihe and Changxi knelt respectfully, a sudden revelation driving them to seek a place by Ye Xiu’s side. They had traversed the endless ancient cosmos to find him, intending to repay the kindness from that fateful day. An unshakable passion in their hearts fueled this endeavor.
Unexpectedly, Ye Xiu declined their request and said earnestly, “Both of you have received a rare opportunity, and your blessings run deep. You may even aspire to reach the level of Tao and become a saint. You don’t need to request me to be your mentor.”
Ye Xiu still remembered infusing Xihe and Changxi with his pure yang energy that day. Even after countless eons had passed, a residue of pure yang essence lingered deep within the core of their beings. If Xihe and Changxi could utilize the art of Taiyin to refine it fully, they could achieve the state of Yin and Yang harmony and create myriad wonders.
There is a significant likelihood that you can pursue the supreme path and attain Hunyuan!
Upon hearing Ye Xiu’s words, a rumble of surprise filled Xihe and Changxi. Their pairs of beautiful eyes met, expressing excitement and astonishment. They were well aware of their limitations and aptitude and accepted that they might only reach the quasi-saint realm even with a lifetime of effort. Attaining the Supreme Primordial Unity Realm had been beyond their wildest dreams. But these words came from Ye Xiu’s mouth, and that assurance immediately convinced them.
They began to realize that the pure yang energy within them had likely transformed their aptitude. This pure yang energy was akin to the legendary source of enlightenment, the illustrious purple qi. Ye Xiu’s guidance had allowed them to touch the elusive Primordial Unity Taoist Fruit.
With these thoughts, Xihe and Changxi grew increasingly curious about Ye Xiu’s true identity. Could an entity possessing pure yang energy akin to primordial purple qi be an incarnation of the Tao?
Their admiration for Ye Xiu swelled, and they regarded him as a supreme deity. Their determination to become his students became unshakable. Xihe and Changxi declared, “Thanks to our benefactor’s guidance, we’ve been blessed with great fortune. If our benefactor does not accept, we, the two sisters, will kneel.”
Observing this, Ye Xiu couldn’t help but smile wryly. These two young women had become wholly dependent on him.
Without much choice, Ye Xiu said, “If you’re determined to follow, then remain on Mount Buzhou for now. I will teach you the methods of practice, and we’ll decide your permanent stay once you’ve made significant progress.”
The two women exchanged glances, and although they were somewhat disappointed, they nodded in agreement, saying, “Xihe (Changxi)… willingly follows Taoist Ye Xiu.”
While they couldn’t officially become Ye Xiu’s disciples, the opportunity to practice alongside him was fulfilling. The thought of being in the presence of a peerless young man like Ye Xiu every day brought them immense joy and motivation.
Grinning, Xihe and Changxi displayed radiant smiles on their lovely faces.
“Furthermore, you no longer need to address me as ‘benefactor.’ You can call me ‘Taoist Ye Xiu’ or simply ‘Taoist,'” Ye Xiu said with a light tone.
“Yes, Taoist!” Xihe and Changxi replied happily.
Mount Buzhou, imbued with the residual presence of Pangu, was a lonely place with few inhabitants. The arrival of Xihe and Changxi brought a touch of life and vitality, adding a welcome change to the surroundings. It was indeed a positive development.
