Chapter 50: The Wrath of the Twelve Ancestral Witches, Slay Hongjun!
However, just as Pangu’s true body was about to unleash the devastating power of the descending axe, a sudden change occurred. A vast heavenly force descended from above, filled with boundless Hunyuan mana and the interwoven essence of three thousand laws.
In an instant, the flow of time stopped, and space froze. The battlefield was enveloped by an overwhelming, irresistible force, rendering all beings, including the Great Luo Golden Immortals, completely immobile. Not even the Twelve Ancestral Witches could move.
Despite this, Pangu’s true body continued its slow descent with the massive axe, seemingly determined to break through the constraints and annihilate Emperor Jun and Donghuang Taiyi.
However, a majestic Taoist resonance reverberated, and another mighty force intervened. With a resounding “clang,” the axe was abruptly deflected by an invisible force, abruptly halting the impending destruction.
This new power, rich and vast, entwined with the essence of three thousand laws and brimming with boundless Taoist wisdom, surpassed the Celestial Formation of the Heavenly Starry Array and the Twelve Divine Formation of the Heavenly Constellations.
All eyes turned towards the purple-robed Taoist who had just arrived. Reactions varied among the onlookers, with the monster race elated, the Wu Clan apprehensive, and the Twelve Ancestral Witches seething angrily.
“It’s Taoist Hongjun!” exclaimed Emperor Jun and Donghuang Taiyi, their despair turning into jubilation.
The monster race’s morale soared as they realized this intervention might save them from destruction. Meanwhile, the Twelve Ancestral Witches were furious, believing they were on the cusp of victory before Hongjun’s interference.
Ancestral Witch Emperor Jiang, consumed by rage, confronted Hongjun, demanding, “Hongjun, what is your intent? If you’ve decided to merge with the Taoist, how can you meddle in the affairs of the Witch and Demon tribes?”
Hongjun maintained his indifferent demeanor, his posture lofty, and his expression inscrutable. He appeared even stronger than when preaching in Purple Heaven Palace, exuding a dense Taoist aura and a deeper understanding of the three thousand laws.
“The Lich’s battle has caused great loss of life. I uphold the will of heaven and cannot stand idly by. I cannot bear to see the suffering of all beings. Therefore, this battle must end,” Hongjun declared from his position in the sky, standing atop the river of time.
Inevitably, the situation was about to change.
In the expansive sky, a resounding voice declared to the countless creatures of the prehistoric world: “Henceforth, demons shall rule the heavens, witches shall govern the earth, and no war shall be waged during our encounter!”
Upon hearing these words, the most delighted beings were the countless monsters. Even Emperor Jun, Donghuang Taiyi, and many other celestial powers secretly breathed sighs of relief and felt happiness within. The Demon tribe had suffered immense losses in the battle and needed a substantial rest and recovery, possibly an entire era, to regain their strength.
Acknowledging the situation, Emperor Jun and Donghuang Taiyi respectfully bowed to Hongjun, pledging, “We shall follow the decree of the Taoist.”
This turn of events left countless beings in the prehistoric world astonished and resigned, as many mused, “Under the sway of destiny, small shifts can be influenced, but grand currents are unstoppable.”
“With Ancestor Hongjun’s intervention, the war between the Witches and Demons can only conclude at this point.”
However, just when it seemed the Witch-Demon war was about to end, the long-suppressed resentment and anger of the Twelve Ancestral Witches erupted. Ancestral Witch Emperor Jiang thundered in a fury, “Hongjun, the Witch tribe has always revered only the Primordial God Pangu and shown no respect for Heaven and Earth. Why should we heed your command?”
Following his declaration, the Twelve Patriarchal Witches channeled their powers into Pangu’s true body, raising the giant axe, breaking free of their constraints, and swinging it towards Hongjun.
This audacious act shocked many witnesses. The audacity of the Twelve Ancestral Witches to attack a Heavenly Taoist Saint, disregarding the understanding that saints were as insignificant as ants, earned respect for the Witch Clan. Even in the face of a heavenly saint, the Twelve Ancestral Witches refused to bow down, embodying Pangu’s fearless, invincible, and unyielding spirit.
However, Emperor Jun and Donghuang Taiyi saw this as sheer folly. An expression of glee crossed their faces as they remarked, “The saint of Hunyuan is sacred and cannot be defiled by ants. Should the Witch Clan dare to affront him, they might be entirely eradicated from the prehistoric world.”
Their words dripped with schadenfreude. The audacious actions of the Twelve Ancestral Witches had genuinely provoked Hongjun, who concealed a glint of coldness in his eyes while maintaining his stoic expression.
