Infinite Fire Record - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Cultivating the Burning Decree
Dark space. Cold breath. Dim candlelight.
Within the Ancient Tomb Sect, the treasured ‘Cold Jade Bed’ lay still, exuding its chilling aura.
Imperial Heaven’s sword-like brows furrowed, his cold eyes reflecting the flickering candlelight. A silver flame burned vividly at the center of his brow. The corners of his lips curled faintly, a detached, almost indifferent expression lingering on his face.
With a wave of his right hand, the Dragon Devouring Ring gleamed, revealing a volume of ancient leather. The beast’s skin, its origin unknown, bore the weight of history in its every crease. Large, fire-red characters sprawled across it:
Burning Decree.
A technique of the Dou Bao lineage, responsible for the rise of two Dou Di Emperors. Originally a low-grade, yellow-ranked technique, it had the unique ability to devour foreign flames and evolve. The fire of heaven and earth—such a divine force—was a blessing to obtain but a calamity to lose. Capable of consuming any amount of external flames, the Burning Decree stood as a miraculous cultivation art, feared and revered alike.
Yaten’s gaze sharpened as he coldly regarded the beast’s skin. A trace of amusement flickered across his lips.
“Yang veins, Yang points, a hidden vein. These are the key pathways of the Burning Decree. The Yang Vein transforms energy into flame, the Yang Acupuncture Points gather and refine it, and the Hidden Veins devour the fire itself.”
His fingers lightly brushed over the ancient script.
Interesting… Without the Cold Jade Bed or other divine artifacts, I would need years just to comprehend this technique. Otherwise, merely activating the Yang Veins and condensing flame energy would burn my meridians to ashes. The Incineration Decree… Its very name speaks of its power. Transcending flames, incinerating all… This is the Burning Decree.
As he spread the scroll open, his eyes scanned its contents, engraving them into memory.
Sitting cross-legged, Yaten exhaled slowly. A cold smirk surfaced.
Dou Shi, one-star… The Dou Qi whirlwind has taken shape. The cultivation of the Burning Decree begins today.
His hands formed an ancient seal, and as the technique activated, the surrounding void trembled. A wave of scorching heat coalesced.
His expression remained ice-cold as his consciousness sank into his dantian, circulating his Dou Qi by the Burning Decree’s prescribed path.
Heat surged in the surrounding void. The Cold Jade Bed exuded a relentless chill, suppressing the influx of scorching energy. Even so, Yaten remained still, his eyes closed as if in slumber.
Deep within his body, however, a violent storm raged.
Following the path of the Burning Decree, his Dou Qi surged into his Yang Veins. His complexion flushed red as unbearable heat coursed through his meridians. His brows furrowed slightly as flames erupted within him, burning along the pathways of his Yang Veins.
Pain gnawed at him, the intensity unbearable.
Yet, the icy breath of the Cold Jade Bed mitigated the agony, allowing him to endure.
The Yang Vein had been activated. Now, the Yang Points began their work.
In the dark chamber, the once-still air rippled. A sizzling breath spread, forming an unseen river of fire converging toward Yaten’s body. The dim candlelight flickered—then extinguished—as its flame was drawn into the burning maelstrom surrounding him.
Darkness swallowed the room.
A stunning woman stood at the chamber’s edge, her gaze as cold as the frost she commanded. The Little Dragon Lady.
Even in the absence of light, her vision remained unhindered. Her icy eyes remained locked on Yaten.
She regarded him lightly at first, then with growing curiosity. A frown marred her ethereal face.
“This scoundrel… What kind of cultivation art is he practicing this time? This technique… is far too domineering. The flames it absorbs are completely devoured.”
While she remained puzzled, Yaten’s internal battle raged on.
Within his body, multiple acupoints blazed as flames gathered and fused. The scorching energy intensified, pressing against the limits of his endurance.
Fortunately, the Cold Jade Bed’s suppression and the medicinal effects of the Red Gold Dragon Marrow Dan from the Medicine Clan provided him with some resistance.
His eyes snapped open.
A flicker of fiery light danced within his pupils.
His lips curled into a triumphant smile, his gaze turning scarlet.
“Heh… No matter how fierce the Burning Decree is, it will ultimately submit to me. Hidden Vein, manifest. The Burning Decree is mine to command.”
Boom—!
A muffled explosion shattered the silence of the stone chamber.
Flames erupted around Yaten, consuming him in a vortex of burning energy. His silver robes disintegrated into nothingness.
At this moment, his entire body blazed with an infernal radiance. His silver hair, caught in the heat’s invisible grasp, floated and shimmered like molten strands. The silver flame at his brow pulsed, slow yet terrifyingly steady.
He looked like a god of fire incarnate.
Then, without warning, his long silver locks shifted, turning into tens of thousands of silk-like green strands.
His lips parted slightly, releasing a wisp of flame.
“The Burning Decree is complete.”
Boom—!
The surrounding flames collapsed inward, drawn into his being.
Yaten became a black hole, absorbing every trace of fire, every lingering ember. The once-scorching breath of the chamber was now void of heat.
Yet, something was amiss.
Beneath him, the Cold Jade Bed trembled, unleashing an unfathomable cold. A river of silver ice surged forth, rushing into his body.
A flicker of disbelief crossed his face.
This…
A silver flame blazed at the center of his brow.
The Cold Jade Bed, its once-unshakable chill, was now being drained—devoured—by the flame within him.
Shock rippled through him.
Bone Spirit Cold Flame… This is the legendary Bone Spirit Cold Flame… It is absorbing the Cold Jade Bed’s essence?!
His heart pounded as his consciousness sank into his dantian.
The swirling vortex of Dou Qi within him—once an ordinary storm—had transformed.
Silver flames flickered within the cyclone of energy, an undeniable mark of his success.
A slow breath escaped him.
The Burning Decree… It is complete.
Yet, before he could revel in his triumph, a sudden force tugged at the energy within his brow’s Mud Palace Pill.
His eyes narrowed.
What is this? My devouring ability… It is surfacing now? But… I am not controlling it.
His dantian trembled.
The once-silver Dou Qi cyclone was rapidly transforming, its radiance fading.
Yaten’s eyes darkened as he muttered in disbelief.
The silver flame… It is being stripped away… Leaving only pure white Dou Qi…
Time crawled forward as his fiery red pupils dimmed, turning into an eerie silver hue.
