Love Apartment: Tomb Raiding System - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: I Got the Wrong System!
Why was Chen Yuze cursing? The reason was simple—while that guy was rattling off names, another voice suddenly echoed in his mind, loud and clear:
“Ding! Congratulations, Host, for triggering the main storyline! The Tomb Raiding System is now officially activated! We hope you dedicate yourself to completing tasks. Our goal: a world without tombs!”
Chen Yuze was so frustrated he could cry. Why is it that when others transmigrate, they get entertainment, godhood, or wealth systems, but mine seems infected with a virus? Tomb raiding? What kind of nonsense is this? Since when does the Love Apartment have ancient tombs? And it’s illegal! I’m no official tomb-raiding expert!
Worse, the system didn’t even give him a chance to refuse—it immediately started spouting random tasks like a madman.
“Binding successful. Distributing beginner’s gift pack. Host, please check as soon as possible: one low-level tomb-raiding talisman. Generating beginner’s mission: Tremble, Graves! Raid one tomb!”
After that, the system went dead silent.
Chen Yuze’s earlier response had stunned Zeng Xiaoxian, but now Chen Yuze himself snapped back to reality. He looked up at the sky—Heavens, how cruel can you be?!
“Little bro, I sympathize, but can you wait a bit before eating? Also, it’s the vice chair, not women’s chair!” Zeng Xiaoxian pondered for a moment before realizing the guy had a point.
Chen Yuze finally regained his senses and handed what he was holding to Zeng Xiaoxian. “Oh, got it. Here, take it all. But it really is delicious!”
“Really?” Zeng Xiaoxian smirked, carefully picking up a small cake and popping it into his mouth. “Mmm… so good!”
Zeng Xiaoxian closed his eyes, savoring the cake, his expression growing even more shameless. Chen Yuze noticed that the Zeng Xiaoxian from the TV show wasn’t nearly as ridiculous as this one. Still, he slowly took a step back, sensing something was off.
“Jian—Ren—Zeng!!!” A thunderous roar, like a Buddhist lion’s roar, stunned everyone present. Zeng Xiaoxian snapped out of his daze, nearly crying at the sight before him.
Fumbling with the plate, Zeng Xiaoxian stared at the beauty in front of him. “Hu… Hu Yifei, let me explain! I didn’t eat this! It was that guy—huh? Where’d he go?”
When he turned around, the guy had vanished. Meanwhile, Hu Yifei’s eyes burned with fury. From a safe distance, Chen Yuze exhaled in relief. “Phew! I knew something felt off. Thank goodness I dodged that bullet! The pressure just now—of course, it’s Hu Yifei. That explains everything!”
Wiping imaginary sweat from his brow, Chen Yuze studied Hu Yifei and Zeng Xiaoxian. Now I get why Zeng Xiaoxian likes her so much. She’s stunning, even if her personality is more manly than most men. But her presence is something else.
Meanwhile, Hu Yifei wasn’t about to go easy on Zeng Xiaoxian. “You shameless scoundrel! I thought you’d changed after lying low for so long, but no—you’re still the same old jerk!”
“I should’ve known better than to trust you. But this? This is beyond low! Good thing I came to check—look at all this food you stuffed into your greedy mouth! If I’d been any later, you’d have devoured everything! And you call yourself the vice chair? Have some dignity!” Her booming voice drew everyone’s attention, leaving Chen Yuze trembling in his hiding spot.
“One more time—it’s the vice chair of the residents’ committee, not the women’s chair! And I didn’t eat this!” Zeng Xiaoxian was practically in tears, scanning the crowd for the guy who’d set him up.
“Oh? Not you? Then maybe wipe the cream off your face before lying to me!” Hu Yifei crossed her arms, her glare practically daring him to keep digging his own grave.
“Huh? Really? I was careful!” Zeng Xiaoxian instinctively wiped his cheek—then froze under Hu Yifei’s murderous aura.
“Go on, keep talking. Want me to fetch a mirror for you?” Hu Yifei sneered. Zeng Xiaoxian felt his life darkening.
Just then, he spotted the culprit in the crowd. Without thinking, he dragged Chen Yuze forward. Chen Yuze, still confused, noticed a girl nearby pointing at her chin. He touched his own—Oh no, I missed some cream too!
“Hu Yifei, he ate it! I saw him!” Zeng Xiaoxian shoved Chen Yuze forward. Faced with Hu Yifei’s full wrath, Chen Yuze wisely chose surrender.
“Alright, I admit it. I skipped breakfast to make it to the wedding and grabbed a cake. I’ll make it up to you however I can.” His apologetic tone pleased Hu Yifei.
She smiled warmly. “No worries! You must’ve rushed here. The food’s meant to be eaten anyway—timing doesn’t matter. I’ll have the kitchen bring more later.”
“See? I told you it wasn’t me!” Zeng Xiaoxian cheered, jumping in triumph—until Hu Yifei’s glare returned.
“Oh? Not you? Then explain the cream on your face and the plate in your hand.”
“He gave it to me!” Zeng Xiaoxian pointed at Chen Yuze, who played dumb.
“Enough! Still lying? Now you’re blaming a guest? I can’t believe the bride and groom even let you in!” Hu Yifei’s anger flared.
Knowing resistance was futile, Zeng Xiaoxian slumped. “Fine, I admit it. What do you want me to do?”
“Good. Go fix the red carpet, wash the empty plates, and help serve food later.” She listed task after task, leaving Zeng Xiaoxian utterly defeated.
