My Nurse Girlfriend Looks Soft And Cure? But Each Stab She Makes Avoids Their Vital Points - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: No Farting Allowed? What a Bizarre Rule!
Understanding the cause of the illness simplified the rescue efforts. After a series of urgent treatments, Du Hongbao’s condition returned to normal.
“For now, we’re not sure if bypass surgery is necessary,” Lu Ming explained to Du Qiwei, updating him on Du Hongbao’s current state.
“Alright, thank you, Doctor!”
“You’re not just my father’s savior, but mine too!” Du Qiwei expressed his gratitude, his hands clasped together.
“Remember the advice I gave you. Don’t drink cold water right after exercise,” Lu Ming reminded him again.
“Yes, yes, I’ve got it. I’ll never forget it in my whole life!” Du Qiwei joked, realizing how close he came to losing his father over such a minor issue.
Lu Ming nodded slightly. In reality, the chances of sudden death from drinking cold water after exercise were extremely rare. Out of a million people, there may be only one such case. But would you take that one-in-a-million chance? When it happened to you, it would be a certain outcome!
Another day passed, and Lu Ming began booking a flight for three days later. Three days from now, he would meet a group of experts at the airport to travel to the capital city for a conference to discuss Shen Ruicong’s treatment plan. Due to the rarity of Shen Ruicong’s condition, it attracted numerous exceptional medical professionals from various fields.
Besides the few renowned experts Lu Ming had invited, many others had approached him voluntarily, expressing their desire to join his team. Lu Ming didn’t turn them down. More people meant more ideas. Only through continuous brainstorming could they come up with the most optimal solution.
As a result, the list of people in Lu Ming’s team had grown to an astonishing 113 individuals, and this was just a portion of the people he had screened. He had politely declined several hundred more. Many of these individuals were department heads or even well-known professors from esteemed medical schools. After booking his flight, Lu Ming, as usual, went to Shen Ruicong’s hospital room for rounds. At the elevator, he happened to run into Li Xuejing.
“Dr. Lu Ming, what a coincidence!” Li Xuejing greeted me with a smile.
“Are you here to visit Ruicong?” Lu Ming inquired.
“Yes, and also to update Ruicong’s mother on the current donation situation.”
Lu Ming’s interest was piqued when he heard this, and he asked, “How much in donations?”
Li Xuejing blinked and said, “Guess.”
“I won’t guess,” Lu Ming replied straightforwardly.
“Um…” Li Xuejing suddenly felt like she was put on the spot. So, she revealed the number.
Li Xuejing extended one hand and formed a gesture resembling the number six.
“Six thousand?” Lu Ming asked.
“It’s sixty thousand!” Li Xuejing corrected, her tone filled with excitement.
Whoa… Upon hearing the number sixty thousand, Lu Ming couldn’t help but take a sharp breath. In just three days, they had raised sixty thousand? The online community was truly amazing! There was no need to worry about Shen Ruicong’s medical expenses.
“It seems it was a wise decision to entrust this task to you,” Lu Ming said, highly satisfied.
“Of course! Don’t forget who I am!” Li Xuejing said proudly.
“Oh, by the way, how many new followers did you gain?” Lu Ming suddenly asked, smiling.
At this question, Li Xuejing became excited once again.
“My followers officially reached a million at 1 a.m. this morning!” Li Xuejing proudly announced. After that live broadcast, her followers had surged to 800,000. Then, after two days, she finally crossed the one-million mark. She had become a big-time streamer with over a million followers. Many gaming organizations had approached her for contracts, some even offering multi-million-dollar deals. However, she had been brushing them off with the excuse of considering it. She wasn’t too keen on signing with an organization because it came with many restrictions, and there might be contract traps that could lead to a hefty breach of contract penalties. If she didn’t earn enough to cover those penalties, she’d have no one to blame but herself.
“Congratulations!” Lu Ming offered his congratulations. The elevator arrived at their destination.
The two of them entered Shen Ruicong’s hospital room. Inside the room, Lu Ming saw Shen Ruicong playing with another child. After a few days of recovery, Shen Ruicong could disconnect briefly from the monitoring equipment and move around the room.
Lu Ming remembered the child playing with Shen Ruicong, named Chu Wenjie, a congenital heart disease patient, with his mother, Sun Kaili.
An intern doctor, Ruan Tianchen, who had trained under Lu Ming, had once sought his help to convince Sun Kaili to give medication to Chu Wenjie, but she had refused, leading to some unpleasant interactions. Lu Ming had advised Ruan Tianchen not to become overly emotionally involved with patients, as it might not be suitable for a medical professional.
To his surprise, Chu Wenjie was still in the hospital, indicating his condition was fluctuating. Judging by his appearance, it was evident that his heart wasn’t in the best shape.
“Dr. Lu Ming, Miss Li, you’re here,” greeted Luo Sanmei.
“Luo Big Sister, I’ve told you multiple times, no need to be so formal. Just call me Jingjing,” Li Xuejing scolded her gently.
“Alright, Jingjing,” Luo Sanmei quickly nodded with a smile.
“Luo, Big Sister, I have good news to share. We’ve raised over 600,000 in donations!” Li Xuejing promptly shared the good news with Luo Sanmei.
“Six… six hundred thousand?” Luo Sanmei took a deep breath, feeling overwhelmed by the amount. The fact that so many people had donated this much money was quite overwhelming. It made her realize there were still many good-hearted people in the world.
“Hehehe, the online community is amazing, right?” Li Xuejing changed the subject.
“Yes, very amazing!” Luo Sanmei agreed with enthusiasm.
“Oh, by the way, Luo Big Sister, regarding Mr. Shen’s situation…”
“A few lawyers have contacted me. They are willing to help you without charge, to seek justice for you and retrieve the compensation for Mr. Shen,” Li Xuejing informed her.
Upon hearing her husband’s name, the smile gradually faded from Luo Sanmei’s face.
“This matter…”
“Perhaps we can discuss it after Ruicong’s health is restored?” Li Xuejing suggested. It was clear that Luo Sanmei’s thoughts were entirely focused on her son. Only when Shen Ruicong fully recovered would she be able to deal with other matters.
“Alright, then. Let those scoundrels dance a little longer!” Li Xuejing waved her small fist playfully.
“Hehehe, Jingjing, you’re truly a good girl. You’ve had to worry about so much,” Luo Sanmei said warmly.
“Dr. Lu Ming is a great doctor, too. I can see it now,” Luo Sanmei commented, watching the two of them. “You make quite a compatible pair…”
Luo Sanmei’s remark caused a slight blush on Li Xuejing’s cheeks. Lu Ming, on the other hand, was taken aback and then felt somewhat awkward. He said, “Luo Big Sister, I already have a girlfriend.”
“You mean that nurse who comes daily to record Ruicong’s condition?” Luo Sanmei replied, her smile disappearing instantly.
She was in an awkward situation, as if she wanted to find a hole to hide in.
“Ugh, what’s wrong with my big mouth? I’ve created a mess with my words,” Luo Sanmei chastised herself, giving herself a few slaps on the cheek. Then she asked, “That nurse, Tang Xiaorou, is she your girlfriend?”
“She’s a gentle and patient girl, just like her name suggests. She’s also a good girl,” Luo Sanmei complimented Tang Xiaorou.
Lu Ming smiled politely, though he was inwardly sighing. Gentle? That’s because you haven’t seen her when she’s poking and prodding people!
Li Xuejing, who had been listening to their conversation, had a moment of shock. Her blushing cheeks quickly returned to normal.
Does Lu Ming already have a girlfriend? The girl named Tang Xiaorou must be very lucky to have Lu Ming as her boyfriend. She couldn’t help but feel envious, sincerely envious from the bottom of her heart.
“I have some matters to attend to. You two continue your conversation. I’ll leave for now,” Lu Ming made an excuse and left the hospital room.
He indeed had some business to take care of, namely the increasing number of coughing patients. He currently had two pressing matters: Shen Ruicong’s treatment plan and the issue with the coughing patients. He needed to speak with the vice dean in charge of outpatient services to gather more information. However, while he was in the process of searching for the vice dean, he passed by the area near the proctology department and heard a commotion.
It sounded like a dispute between a patient and a doctor. As the honorary vice dean, Lu Ming couldn’t simply stand by and do nothing. So, he decided to approach the proctology department to see what was going on. Upon arriving at the proctology department, he saw the corridor filled with onlookers and a group of medical personnel gathered there.
“What’s going on?” Lu Ming inquired as he approached.
“Director Lu Ming.”
“Dr. Lu Ming.”
“Professor Lu Ming.”
“Teacher Lu Ming.”
Many of the medical staff greeted Lu Ming in various ways. There were interns he had trained, as well as medical personnel who had transferred from his emergency department, so their ways of addressing him differed.
“A patient believes that one of the rules in our proctology department is unreasonable and got into an argument with Dr. Mao,” explained one of the medical staff.
“An unreasonable rule?” Lu Ming inquired, puzzled. “What rule is that?”
“It’s one of the rules posted in each examination room of the proctology department,” they replied. “It’s Rule Number Six: ‘Patients are prohibited from farting.'”
Lu Ming’s mouth twitched at that.
This rule… believe it or not, it’s not as absurd as it sounds because it has quite a story behind it!
