Northern Myanmar: Bloodshed in the Golden Triangle, Have I Become a General? - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Zhao Renzhou’s Jest, Feeding the Bear!
Inside Bear King’s base,
Zhao Renzhou and his men were collecting things,
Box by box, item by item, they were carrying them out.
There were also some cages,
Containing several wolfhounds with red eyes and drooling mouths.
Among them was the largest cage,
Housing a brown bear.
Zhao Renzhou stood in front of the cage,
Watching this brown bear with great interest.
He reached for something nearby,
A piece of charred meat, and kicked it into the cage, surprisingly, the bear didn’t even glance at it.
Zhao Renzhou smirked,
“Seems quite picky.”
At that moment,
“Big brother!”
“They’ve caught someone!”
Zhao Hu’s voice echoed in the distance.
Zhao Renzhou turned to look,
Zhao Hu was leading a group of people,
Dragging the memory of Bear King along with them,
All the way to the base.
Bloodstains covered the ground.
Zhao Renzhou looked at Zhao Hu, who was bandaging his arm.
“You’re injured,” Zhao Renzhou remarked.
Zhao Hu patted his arm and replied, “It’s nothing, just a minor wound.”
He then took Bear King from his subordinates.
Grabbing him by the collar, he tossed him onto the ground.
“This dog is quite formidable,” Zhao Hu sneered.
“He killed two of our brothers.”
“Damn it…”
“He even broke my bone.”
Zhao Renzhou nodded approvingly, “Well done.”
“Go find a doctor to rebandage that wound.”
He then slowly squatted down,
With a Desert Eagle in his hand,
He prodded Bear King’s head lightly.
In a mocking tone, he said, “Long time no see, Bear King.”
“Why are your legs missing?”
Intense pain made Bear King tremble all over.
But upon hearing Zhao Renzhou’s voice,
He struggled to lift his head, staring at Zhao Renzhou with hatred.
Bear King’s voice was intermittent but filled with hatred as he spoke:
“Dshan… Dshan tribe… armed…”
“I won’t… let you… get away with…”
“Your…”
The reason Bear King had been able to reign for so long was because he had numerous collaborations with the Dshan tribe’s armed forces.
In this region of northern Myanmar, power was divided among the government army, regional Dshan armed groups, and various drug lords.
The government army had the best equipment, while the regional Dshan armed groups were dispersed and hard to deal with.
In the seven border towns, Zhao Renzhou, Bear King, and their followers had gathered hundreds of people and organized the control of one town.
Eliminating them was a challenging task, and they lacked the strength to decisively change the balance of power.
Both the government army and the Dshan armed groups were unwilling to engage in conflict. The same logic applied to Zhao Renzhou and his group; they could fight, but both sides were deeply rooted in the area.
In such a situation, fighting would only result in losing a large chunk of flesh without changing the overall balance of power.
So, the three parties had an unusual peace arrangement.
Now that Zhao Renzhou had taken down Bear King, it meant a reduction in income for the Dshan armed forces. It couldn’t just be left like that.
When he heard Bear King’s threat, Zhao Renzhou chuckled lightly and slowly stood up.
He beckoned to someone nearby, and one of his men immediately handed him a large machete with a golden-inlaid handle.
This was found in Bear King’s house, and it was said that Bear King liked to use it to chop off people’s arms and feed them to the bear.
Zhao Renzhou took the machete with the golden-threaded wooden handle, gripped it with both hands, and gave it a swing, saying, “Was I freaking scared?”
Splat! A severed arm flew into the air. Zhao Renzhou bent down and picked up the severed limb without the slightest regard for the agonizing screams beneath his feet.
He then tossed the arm into the cage housing the brown bear.
Unexpectedly, the beast didn’t eat it, even after he pushed it towards the bear a couple of times.
He pushed the arm out of the cage, and Zhao Renzhou chuckled, saying, “Not eating, huh?” He then switched to holding the machete in one hand and pulled out a handgun from his waist with the other.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! The 12.7mm bullets discharged into the massive brown bear, creating large holes in its body. The enraged brown bear roared wildly and thrashed against the cage, causing Zhao Renzhou’s men to involuntarily step back, fearing that the creature might break free.
Zhao Renzhou released the bear, grabbed Bear King by the collar, and dragged him over to the iron cage, which the brown bear had been slamming into.
He looked at the massive gap in the cage and the brown bear that was glaring at him with hatred.
With a forceful motion, Zhao Renzhou shoved Bear King’s head through the gap.
Snap! Crunch! The head that went in was instantly snapped and torn off by the brown bear. The brown bear’s blood-soaked maw roared in fury.
Staring at Zhao Renzhou just a few steps away from the cage, the brown bear roared, “Roar!”
Zhao Renzhou couldn’t help but sigh,
“Barbaric… Truly, utterly barbaric… Bringing civilization (and peace) to northern Myanmar… That’s a long road ahead…”
In a jesting manner, he pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
This time, he aimed for the head. The half-shattered head of the brown bear’s lifeless body collapsed onto the ground with a thud.
