Chapter 33: The Confused Zhao Ning and the Explosive Zhao Renzhou

Seeing the increasingly awkward atmosphere, Zhao Renzhou cleared his throat.

“You, come with me,” he said.

Zhao Ning was momentarily bewildered but quickly caught on.

“Oh? Okay,” she replied, rubbing her face. She hurriedly followed Zhao Renzhou, taking deep breaths to try and calm herself.

Zhao Renzhou led Zhao Ning inside the base and into his resting quarters.

This made Zhao Ning quite nervous, especially with the room filled with Zhao Renzhou’s scent. Her heart started pounding even more.

Zhao Renzhou walked over to his desk and opened a drawer, revealing two syringes containing diluted basic soldier serum. The doses were not as potent as the ones Zhao Renzhou had used, and their effects were only half as effective. They could only enhance her existing physical qualities to some extent.

The enhancement was a little over twice as much as the basic serum, making it suitable for his trusted subordinates. Zhao Bao and Zhao Hu had already used up their doses, and Zhao Zhan and Zhao Ning had been forgotten in the midst of the recent events.

Just as Zhao Ning had used all her strength to try to win the arm wrestling match, Zhao Renzhou remembered. He took out two syringes and handed one to Zhao Ning.

“This one, inject it into your body,” he said. “It’s good for your health.”

Zhao Ning took it, a bit clueless, and replied, “Oh.”

She held the syringe and lifted her clothing slightly, exposing her delicate and fair abdomen. She then injected herself. Zhao Renzhou smiled and asked, “Aren’t you going to ask what it is first?”

Without a care in the world, Zhao Ning chuckled and said, “Big brother wouldn’t harm me.”

Zhao Renzhou tousled her hair, chuckled, and said,

“Okay,” Zhao Renzhou said. “Wait a moment, and you’ll feel the effects. This serum can significantly improve your physical capabilities, at least enough to let me move my wrist a bit.”

Zhao Renzhou’s casual explanation left Zhao Ning with wide-open eyes.

She couldn’t believe it. The serum could double her physical abilities? But why did it only allow Zhao Renzhou’s wrist to move a bit? Just how strong was his baseline physical condition?

To Zhao Ning, it all seemed a bit surreal. She was already capable of taking on three or four adult men in hand-to-hand combat without breaking a sweat. So, the idea that doubling her physical abilities would only make Zhao Renzhou’s wrist wiggle slightly was beyond her understanding.

Little did Zhao Ning know that Zhao Renzhou had injected himself with the complete version of the basic serum. His natural physical condition was already exceptional, and with this serum, it had improved multiple times over.

Not long after Zhao Renzhou’s explanation, Zhao Ning started to feel something strange happening to her body. It began as a mild discomfort in her abdominal area, like her muscles were tearing apart. The sensation then spread throughout her entire body, leaving her with a puzzled expression.

Seeing her furrowed brow, Zhao Renzhou reassured her, “Don’t be afraid.

This is a normal reaction. The serum is causing your muscles to tear and rapidly heal and reorganize themselves. Your skin will tighten accordingly. It’s a painful process, but bear with it.”

Indeed, the sensation was quite painful as her muscles continuously tore and reformed.

However, for Zhao Renzhou, Zhao Bao, and Zhao Hu, it was nothing out of the ordinary. They had endured various injuries from gunshot wounds and cuts over the years.

Zhao Renzhou was particularly concerned about Zhao Ning, as she was a young woman and not as physically tough as Zhao Hu. He kept a close eye on her, observing her reactions.

Zhao Ning, despite the discomfort, nodded with determination in response to Zhao Renzhou’s words.

As Zhao Ning continued to endure the sensations caused by the serum, her face suddenly underwent a drastic change.

She quickly lowered her head, biting her lip so hard that it concealed her facial expression from Zhao Renzhou. He was unaware of the turmoil happening within her.

After the initial tearing sensation starting from her abdomen, Zhao Ning felt a strange sensation welling up within her. What had begun as a localized discomfort soon spread and intensified. Her skin tightened, and the strange sensation seemed to replace the initial pain, causing her to lose her focus.

She tried her best to maintain her composure, her teeth clenched tightly on her lip. It was a challenging struggle to control her breathing and keep herself from making any sound.

As Zhao Renzhou observed Zhao Ning’s subtle physical changes and her uncomfortable reaction, his concern grew. He had administered this serum to male subordinates before, and there hadn’t been any unusual reactions.

However, Zhao Ning was a woman, and he began to worry if something unexpected had occurred.

Calling out to her and receiving no response, Zhao Renzhou became even more uneasy. He bent down to check on her, hoping to see her face and assess her condition.

But as he approached, Zhao Ning immediately started moving backward, eventually bumping into the wall. She leaned against it, clutching her chest, and began gasping for air.

“Big… big brother… uhm…” Zhao Ning managed to utter between breaths. “Don’t… uhm…”

“Don’t come any closer….”

Her entire body exuded resistance.

She didn’t want to make a fool of herself in front of Zhao Renzhou.

She struggled to force out a few words.

This was already Zhao Ning’s limit.

She leaned against the wall,

Her two long legs pressed tightly together.

Her lower legs turned slightly inward.

Her eyes were unfocused, her body tinged with red,

And she was still breathing heavily.

Caused Zhao Renzhou’s face to change abruptly.
