Northern Myanmar: Bloodshed in the Golden Triangle, Have I Become a General? - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: General Furo Captured, Zhao Renzhou Shatters His Pretense
Sitting in the front passenger seat, Zhao Zhan widened his eyes in disbelief, looking at Zhao Renzhou. He couldn’t fathom how he could utter such shameless words. But upon closer inspection, it seemed like what he said wasn’t entirely wrong.
“Wow,” Zhao Zhan couldn’t help but exclaim, “it had to be you, big brother. Ordinary people wouldn’t come up with such a shameless trick…”
Zhao Renzhou smiled and tapped the armrest next to him with his index finger.
“Go back under the name of the ‘Golden Triangle Security Group,'” he continued, “donate money and supplies, issue a public statement of support for firefighting efforts in response to this suspected intentional wildfire.
Say that the ‘Golden Triangle Security Group’ is deeply saddened by this fire, and that we began preparing supplies as soon as we learned of it. Stress our commitment to the ideals of peaceful development…”
“…”
“…”
“Draft a statement something like that,” he concluded, “Oh, and make sure to include my name at the end.”
“Zhao Renzhou,”
“These three big words,”
“I want them smashed onto the faces of the Shan armed forces…”
Hearing this, a wicked smile appeared on Zhao Zhan’s face.
“Yes!”
Revenge can be sweet. The Shan people might know who started the fire, but Zhao Renzhou wanted to make them sick to their stomachs.
Even though it was they who set the fire, they would become the first conscientious enterprise to support firefighting efforts. Zhao Zhan couldn’t help but wonder if those Shan people would go crazy.
Time slowly passed. General Furo and his men had already started heading back. Due to their attack on the villages, they had lost a significant number of people to Zhao Hu’s onslaught.
Now, only a few trucks’ worth of survivors stood by the road, watching the relentless fire consume the mountainside without any sign of relenting.
Fear filled the hearts of each person. It was a primal instinct belonging to humanity. Meanwhile, General Furo remained standing in place, staring at the towering flames and thick smoke that covered the sky.
“Damn it…”
“How could he dare to do this?!”
General Furo was becoming unhinged.
His eyes were bloodshot,
And he screamed hysterically.
“He’s insane!”
“Insane!”
“Damn insane!”
General Furo couldn’t believe it.
Someone could actually be so insane.
Setting fire to the mountains?!
Everywhere he looked, there were flames and black smoke!
He even suspected that Zhao Renzhou might have ignited the entire northern Myanmar?!
This lunatic!!
Bang!!
General Furo slammed his fist against the car door.
He angrily strode to the front of the convoy.
“Where are they?!”
“Where the hell are they?!”
“Can we proceed ahead?!”
His subordinates around him shivered inexplicably.
They dared not speak, fearing to provoke General Furo.
At that moment, the lead driver also returned from the road ahead.
The driver, his entire body covered in thick smoke, gasping for breath:
“No way.”
“We can’t go any further ahead!”
“The outpost has been blown to pieces.”
“And there’s too much smoke.”
“We’ll suffocate if we go this way.”
Fulu, forcefully suppressing his anger:
“Then let’s go around…”
Swoosh—
A sharp, piercing cry rang out.
As if something had sliced through the vast sky.
Racing towards them…
Someone in the convoy, in a desperate cry, shouted:
“R! P! G!!”
Boom!!
A long rocket.
With a flawless arc of flames.
Striking the cargo compartment of a truck squarely.
A massive fireball ascended.
The truck was instantly consumed by flames.
Fragments of limbs and charred flesh exploded and scattered.
Chaos erupted everywhere.
This sudden turn of events left the entire convoy bewildered.
But Fulu quickly reacted.
“Enemy ambush!”
“Prepare for battle!”
He hid behind the front of the lead truck.
Commanding his team, he issued orders.
For a moment, they hadn’t yet located the enemy.
Then came the sharp screech again.
Swoosh swoosh swoosh—
In quick succession…
Several RPG rockets.
Blanketing the entire convoy from all directions.
With no time to find cover.
Everything was thrown into chaos.
Dizzy and disoriented.
Many turned into fragments and debris.
With severed arms and legs.
Lying on the ground, crying out in pain…
Fulu, hiding behind the truck.
Also hit and blasted by the RPGs.
However, because Fulu was behind the truck’s front section.
The RPGs hit the cargo area.
Causing significant casualties among the Dzani militia fighters.
He was only wounded by the blast.
His brain ringing loudly, ears bleeding…
Fulu struggled to support his body.
Shaking off the dirt on his head.
Clumsily, he leaned against the truck’s wheel.
And managed to stand.
His entire being in a state of dizziness.
Staggering.
“TMD…”
“Damn….”
“Who…?”
Fulu forcefully suppressed the fear in his heart.
He had never been so close to death before.
The convoy was in ruins.
A round of rockets had scattered the people.
From another intersection, you could see many armed with rifles.
Charging and firing.
Fulu didn’t dare to delay.
Staggering, he ran towards the forest ahead.
Even though it was burning heavily there.
The thick smoke could serve as the best camouflage.
Maybe it would save his life.
He had only run a few steps.
With a thud.
He fell to the ground.
Fulu wasn’t sure what had happened.
It wasn’t until he tried to move his right leg.
But no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn’t budge.
That he turned to look.
He saw a large hole in his right knee.
In an instant.
Fulu felt an intense pain.
When he looked at the wound.
He realized that his knee was completely ruined.
The pain made him writhe on the ground.
In the distance, Zhao Renzhou slowly lowered his gun. Zhao Zhan, standing beside him, couldn’t help but exclaim, “Impressive marksmanship!”
Hitting a target’s knee from over 300 meters away with a handgun was almost unbelievable. But the Desert Eagle in Zhao Renzhou’s hand was a .50 caliber weapon. Within 200 meters, it could take down a deer with a single shot, with its effectiveness extending over several hundred meters.
Shooting through a person’s knee was no problem at all.
Zhao Renzhou smiled and said, “He’s still alive.”
“Bring them all here and let’s see who’s in charge.”
Interestingly, the route they took on their way in was now impassable due to the fires they had set. On their way back, apart from a few outposts, they had eliminated everyone else. Nothing unexpected had occurred.
However, when they reached the exit, they happened to encounter this group of people.
They were all dressed in matching camouflage green outfits, clearly members of the Dzani militia. From a considerable distance away, Zhao Renzhou had ordered everyone to disembark and cautiously approach, leading to the scene that had just unfolded.
Following that, Zhao Zhan led his men over and captured some of the survivors. As for those who were left with severed limbs and no chance of survival, they were put out of their misery with a gunshot.
These people had clearly launched a surprise attack on their village, likely in an attempt to divert attention away from the fires they had set. The ambushes weren’t limited to just one spot, so it was expected that several more waves of attackers might return soon.
There was no time to deal with prisoners, so they took a few captives and loaded them onto the cargo compartment of a truck. Each of them had received an extra two gunshots to the legs. Whether they bled to death or not would be a matter of fate.
At this moment, Zhao Zhan arrived with two others, carrying an unconscious person. His face was filled with delight as he said, “Big brother, we’ve caught a big fish.”
He signaled his men to bring the person over. “It’s the one you shot just now. This guy is named Fulu, one of the higher-ups among the Dzani militia. He led the attack on us.”
Zhao Renzhou chuckled. So, the guy who had called him turned out to be this Fulu? It only took a few hours for him to fall into their hands. Luck wasn’t on his side.
“Set him up for me,” he ordered.
With that, Zhao Renzhou turned and opened the car door. He rummaged inside and retrieved a solid rubber truncheon. Gripping the tail of the truncheon with his right hand, he smacked his left palm with it and looked at the two men who were holding Fulu.
“Step aside a bit,” he instructed.
The two men quickly turned their heads to the side, trying to keep some distance.
Zhao Renzhou gave a sinister smile, flexed his wrist, and then…
Crack!!
A loud noise echoed. The rubber and skin parted, producing a sound like a balloon bursting. Immediately after, a series of crunching and cracking sounds filled the air.
Fulu’s right cheek caved in, his mouth filled with half-shattered teeth that were sent flying and scattered on the ground, each one stained with blood.
With a sudden and intense blow, Fulu, who had already fallen unconscious, was abruptly awakened. The excruciating pain left him incapable of coherent thought, and he couldn’t even force his eyes to open.
When Zhao Renzhou noticed that he had regained consciousness, he nodded in satisfaction.
Fulu had no idea of what had transpired while he was unconscious, and he was fortunate to still be alive. Zhao Renzhou made his decision: “Keep this one. Kill the others we captured earlier. Find a few men to keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn’t lose consciousness again. We’ll deal with him slowly when we get back. Damn it…”
