Northern Myanmar: Bloodshed in the Golden Triangle, Have I Become a General? - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Zhao Renzhou’s Head Easy to Fetch? Just a Small-Time Drug Dealer…
A little more than half a day passed. Exhausted, Chi Yunmeng fell asleep in Zhao Renzhou’s arms.
However, something seemed to cross her mind, causing a slight quirk at the corner of her lips, as though she had had a pleasant dream.
Several days later, Zhao Renzhou sat on a recliner on the rooftop. His hands rested behind his head as he squinted his eyes, savoring the rare tranquility.
During this period, Zhao Renzhou had been staying here, with nights filled with revelry.
After that incident with Chi Yunmeng, she became even more proactive, as if she aimed to conquer Zhao Renzhou. However, each time, she would be the one to yield first.
Training at the base continued in an organized manner.
Mercenaries from Russia and the Free States had arrived, and training had gradually begun.
Although Zhao Renzhou’s organization was officially referred to as a “security company,” once these troops completed their training, there would be three thousand armed soldiers equipped with AK rifles.
It could be said that Zhao Renzhou was the undisputed ruler on this side of Kexin State, essentially a small warlord. With the business model of his company, he didn’t need to worry much.
Currently, the sole source of income was the raw material base, as there were no other operations. They were just waiting for the raw materials to mature for harvesting.
In the end, it still wasn’t bustling enough. No one would open a casino in this place, and even the recently emerging online fraud industry didn’t venture into this border area; it was just too remote.
As for other businesses, they could be considered once they had control over the entire Kexin State.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Zhao Renzhou reached for it and answered, “Hello?”
On the other end of the line, Zhao Bao’s voice came through, “Big brother, your bounty is on the dark web. It looks like someone has taken it, and they seem to have hired a mercenary group.”
“They might come knocking in this period,” Zhao Bao informed.
Zhao Renzhou nodded slightly and replied, “Alright, I got it.” After that, he hung up the phone.
He then stood up and walked to the edge of the rooftop, elevating himself to get a better view. His gaze swept across the area, where every potential hiding spot became clearly visible.
Zhao Renzhou took mental note of these locations. If someone were to attack, and they didn’t come charging directly, they would likely approach from these positions.
Of course, it was also possible that they might use vehicles or even helicopters, but that seemed unlikely due to the significant commotion it would cause.
The defenses at the entrance weren’t to be underestimated.
The most secure approach would be to assassinate the guards around the perimeter and then infiltrate the premises, ensuring that nothing went wrong.
Chi Yunmeng appeared by Zhao Renzhou’s side, approaching from behind and hugging him. She said, “It’s time for dinner. Let’s go downstairs.”
Chi Yunmeng remained wrapped around Zhao Renzhou, not letting go or descending from him.
Zhao Renzhou didn’t pay her much mind and said, “Let’s go,” before turning and making his way down the stairs with this rather conspicuous accessory.
He advised, “Don’t leave the house in the next few days. Stay quietly in the basement. The sacrificial lambs are already on their way…”
In the northern part of Myanmar, within Kexin State, lay the largest city, Minah. On the outskirts of the city, in the estate of a man named Minden, Minden sat in the foremost seat on the living room sofa.
He gestured for his subordinate to bring over some documents and handed them to the leader of the hired mercenaries on the other side—a total of nine individuals, encompassing both white and black mercenaries.
It was rumored that several of them were retired Navy SEALs who had executed numerous assassinations during their service. Whether this was true or not remained uncertain, but the reputation alone was enough.
To assassinate a drug dealer who had yet to gain much power seemed like a misallocation of their talents. Minden lit a cigar.
Minden turned his gaze to the mercenary group leader with the rugged brown beard and said, “Based on our investigation, it’s highly likely that this Zhao Renzhou discovered the bounty on the dark web.
However, he hasn’t reinforced his defenses. Instead, he withdrew half of his estate’s guards. It’s clear that he’s fishing, waiting for you to take the bait.
So, do you have confidence in this mission?”
The brown-bearded mercenary leader chuckled dismissively and replied, “Putting on a show, just as expected from you Dragonland people. It’s just a drug dealer.”
“When my team and I served in the Navy SEALs, we assassinated high-ranking officials in the Middle East. It was much more challenging than dealing with a drug dealer.”
“But once we received the mission, none of them survived more than five days. That’s our strength. Just prepare a helicopter for us. The rest, we’ll handle once we get the message.”
Minden furrowed his brow. Until now, the mercenaries on the other side had no idea he was Minden and believed him to be a spokesperson for the Shan armed forces.
However, if he were to lend out a helicopter…
In case there were any issues, it would be easy to trace back to him with the helicopter. If something went wrong, it could lead to a confrontation.
Minden, an old hand at international dealings, understood human nature all too well.
If they failed to kill Zhao Renzhou on the first try and were discovered, it would lead to endless retaliation.
Despite his relatively small-scale operation, Minden saw a reflection of himself in Zhao Renzhou, a ruthless and determined individual. If they couldn’t eliminate Zhao Renzhou in one go, he would surely make them regret it.
Minden knew this because he was cut from the same cloth.
The mercenary leader on the other side could sense Minden’s hesitation and spoke up, “What are you worried about? This is the safest approach. Take a look at Zhao Renzhou’s villa estate.”
He pushed a set of photographic materials across the table. “Within a one-kilometer radius…”
“Almost no obstructing elements,” the mercenary leader continued explaining confidently to Minden. “Even if we drive the fastest vehicle over there, it would provide them with enough reaction time.”
“Dealing with the guards once they’re alerted would be the real challenge.”
“But with a helicopter, it’s a different story. In the pitch-black night, they won’t see the sky.”
“It would take only a few seconds to reach the villa’s airspace and surround it using rope rappelling. With a villa of this size and nine of us, we’d need less than two minutes to thoroughly clear it and ensure no survivors.
By the time the guards at the entrance realize, we’d probably already be withdrawing.”
The brown-bearded mercenary leader explained confidently to Minden, who nodded in agreement.
In theory, this was indeed the safest approach. As long as Zhao Renzhou remained inside the villa, a four-story mansion, nine people should be more than enough to handle the situation.
It seemed that the plan involved a lot of going up and down stairs and firing weapons. Two minutes should be more than enough to resolve the conflict.
Minden pondered for a moment and then agreed, saying, “Alright. Since that’s the case, I’ll have my people escort you to Gave Town.
Once you’ve conducted your reconnaissance and we’re sure everything is in order, on the day of the operation, I’ll send a helicopter to assist you.”
The brown-bearded mercenary leader got up and said, “OK. It’s been a pleasure working with you.”
Five hundred thousand freelance coins for eliminating a drug dealer. It was easy money.
The bearded leader shook hands with Minden, and Minden signaled his men to take them out for a meal. Later in the evening, they would arrange for transportation to send these individuals away.
