Chapter 46: Deep Cliff, The Emergence of the Blood Bat Palace
At the same time, Su Wanyan exclaimed, Gu Liuyun remained completely composed. As the blood shadow approached from behind, the Crimson Heart Sword floating by his side suddenly emitted a blinding light, slashing fiercely at the blood shadow.
“Snort!”
Like a hot knife through butter, the Crimson Heart Sword effortlessly cleaved the blood shadow in half, causing it to transform into a pool of foul blood on the ground. This unexpected turn of events left all three women who witnessed it astonished. Su Wanyan and Su Xiaoyue quickly approached Gu Liuyun to check if he was injured.
Gu Liuyun gently shook his head and said, “It’s fine, just an ordinary minor enemy.”
Afterwards, he looked around and cautioned the three women, “The blood shadow is quite fast. Be cautious when moving forward, and keep an eye on your surroundings, especially behind you and in dark corners, to avoid ambushes.”
Su Xiaoyue and Blood Rose became much more vigilant after hearing his advice. Meanwhile, Su Wanyan, after some contemplation, formed a hand seal and cast it towards the group.
“Dharma Lotus Seal!”
With her command, an ethereal lotus with a faint golden glow appeared around everyone, slowly rotating.
“Hey, what’s this?” Su Xiaoyue asked with amazement as she observed the scene.
“This spiritual technique can slow down the approaching enemies and provides damage reduction,” Su Wanyan explained.
Gu Liuyun noticed this and grew even more curious about Su Wanyan’s talents. The “Lotus Seal Protection” technique wasn’t typically accessible to novice disciples of the Buddhist sect, suggesting that she had experienced a unique opportunity. Blood Rose suddenly waved her robe at this moment, dispelling the lotus phantoms around her.
Su Wanyan was surprised and asked, “Rose, what are you doing?”
Gu Liuyun smiled and explained to Su Wanyan, “Buddhist practices conflict with ghost cultivation. This spiritual technique can’t be applied to her.”
Blood Rose also nodded and added, “Buddhist practices act as positive buffs for you, but for my profession, it’s like a negative buff.”
Upon hearing the explanations, Su Wanyan remained silent. At the same time, Su Xiaoyue, standing nearby, had an epiphany, “No wonder those teams of ghost cultivators at the entrance of White Emperor City avoided Buddhist cultivators. Now it all makes sense.”
Gu Liuyun chuckled, “It’s probably part of the balance system in the Nine Realms. Ghost cultivators are strong in the early stages, so they designed it to have Buddhist cultivators counter them, making it an intriguing concept.”
The other three women felt that this explanation was reasonable and nodded their heads.
Su Xiaoyue looked around and asked Gu Liuyun, “What’s our next step? The surrounding path is so dark that we can’t see clearly.”
Gu Liuyun thought for a moment and realized they had already spent quite some time here. If they continued at this pace, they might not complete the first pass of the secret realm before nightfall. Speeding up was essential.
So he came up with an excuse and told the three women, “Next, I will follow the route provided by the monk guarding the formation and move forward quickly. If the blood shadows like the ones we encountered earlier appear, I’ll take care of them. Your job is to stay close to me and be cautious not to be ambushed by the blood shadows.”
Hearing this, the three women had no objections. Gu Liuyun then led the way with the Crimson Heart Sword, providing explanations to the women as they continued their rapid progress. They encountered a few blood shadows along the way, but Gu Liuyun quickly dispatched them with his sword, causing no disruption.
When Gu Liuyun finally stopped in front of a cliff, they had been running for almost an hour. Su Xiaoyue wondered if the secret realm had ended.
Gu Liuyun playfully flicked her forehead and said, “This is just the beginning. What we’ve seen so far is merely a maze.”
He then turned to Blood Rose and Su Wanyan, asking if they remembered their route. Both women nodded in response.
Gu Liuyun expressed satisfaction and advised, “In the future, if you need to guide newcomers, use this route. It will save a lot of time.”
Afterwards, he walked to the cliff’s edge and sent the Crimson Heart Sword flying down the steep cliff on the other side.
“Take a look over there,” he instructed.
The three women approached and gazed towards the Crimson Heart Sword. They saw a massive bat bas-relief on the steep cliff, about fifty meters below, with lifelike details, strange patterns on its blood-red wings, and what appeared to be bloodstains on its sharp teeth.
Even more astonishingly, within the open mouth of the bat bas-relief was a blood-red stone door. Above the door were three ancient seal characters: “Blood Bat Palace!”
