Chapter 2: Origin Heaven Divine Art, Transformation Complete, Hongjun Ascends to Sainthood
The Origin Heaven Divine Art—this technique was the result of Zhong Yue’s years of observing the heavens and earth, and it pointed directly toward the Dao of the Great Luo.
With this technique, Zhong Yue could utilise his own body as a medium to mobilise the surrounding earth meridians, drawing upon the power of myriad veins to nourish himself, thereby enhancing his foundation at the moment of transformation.
“With this, the most crucial issue is resolved. The next step is to undergo full transformation.”
Zhong Yue laughed heartily and immediately began the process of transformation.
This method had long since been mastered in his mind through countless contemplations and refinements, so it operated with instinctive ease.
As soon as he willed it, countless starlights glittered in the sky, blanketing the entire valley in a breathtaking spectacle.
As these essences descended, the surrounding earth veins trembled in unison. The primal forces of the earth veins converged from all directions, gathering toward Zhong Yue’s true form.
As for Zhong Yue himself, he resembled a dragon lying deep beneath the abyss, silently inhaling and exhaling spiritual energy without revealing his might.
Yet, upon closer inspection, a supreme and noble aura was clearly brewing within him—ready to break forth in a world-shaking display, ascending like a dragon soaring through the heavens.
Time flowed on, and the energy within Zhong Yue’s body grew ever more profound.
In the sky, clouds surged and winds howled. Spiritual energy gathered like clouds; spiritual liquid fell like rain, descending from the heavens.
Suddenly, a thunderclap split the air, and radiant brilliance burst forth from the land below.
A moment later, a dragon shadow surged skyward, brimming with immense momentum as it shot into the sky.
This was the Dragon Vein, Zhong Yue’s original form.
The dragon vein hovered in the air, ascending amidst the clouds and mist like a celestial dragon soaring through the nine heavens—divine and majestic.
Wherever the dragon vein passed, countless spiritual clouds were devoured and absorbed into Zhong Yue’s body, transforming into nourishment to refine his essence.
It circled the valley ninety-nine times, and after consuming every last wisp of mist and cloud, layers of golden light rained down from the firmament.
As the golden light enveloped the dragon vein, it gradually began to shrink.
Only after some time did the light finally dissipate, revealing a young man floating with eyes closed in its place.
The youth wore a dark robe, with a refined face, sword-like brows and starry eyes. His features were strikingly handsome and sharply defined, as though sculpted by blade and chisel.
This youth was none other than the newly transformed Zhong Yue.
He slowly opened his eyes, and an unfathomably ancient, boundless brilliance radiated from within them.
As he gazed into the distance, it was as if his sight pierced through space and time, beholding the very origin of heaven and earth.
“Traversing this world and becoming the spirit of an earth vein, cultivating painstakingly… At last, I have completed my transformation today.”
As he spoke, a smile of indescribable joy surfaced on Zhong Yue’s face.
In order to undergo this transformation, he had sat in stillness in the void for an entire yuanhui, then spent several more yuanhui absorbing spiritual energy. For someone who had lived only a few decades before, this had been a tremendous ordeal.
Fortunately, it was all worth it.
He had just examined himself and discovered that his foundational nature had undergone a dramatic metamorphosis—he had successfully ascended to the rank of a top-tier innate deity.
Though he had not yet become an innate sacred being, the solid groundwork had been laid. When the time came to walk the path, there would be opportunities to grasp.
However, what truly delighted Zhong Yue was his cultivation—upon transformation, he was already a Golden Immortal.
Such cultivation made him a dominant figure in the Great Desolation. As long as he avoided trouble, there would be no danger to his safety.
This meant that he could now roam the vast world of the Great Desolation unhindered, collecting the essences of earth veins without obstruction.
These earth vein essences, as the name suggests, were the primal forces of the earth veins.
Since he was the embodiment of an earth vein and not a divine mountain of heaven and earth, to further his foundation, he needed to gather the primal energies of myriad earth veins to transform himself.
Of course, he didn’t need a large amount—just a single thread of essence from each vein would suffice to enrich his spiritual light.
“However, before setting off, I must first see what lies hidden deep within that spiritual light.”
Zhong Yue chuckled lightly and turned his gaze toward a specific spot in the valley.
There, divine light shimmered, Daoist essence converged, and vibrant vitality surged forth.
In truth, he had noticed it the moment he first arrived in this world.
There was a treasure hidden there.
Yet because he had no physical form and transformation was of utmost priority, he had not investigated further.
Now that his transformation was complete, it was time to see for himself.
The valley wasn’t large, and Zhong Yue quickly arrived at the source of the gathered Daoist essence.
“Hmm? This is… an Innate Spiritual Treasure?”
Zhong Yue looked on in surprise, a flash of joy in his eyes.
He extended his hand and summoned the spiritual pearl into his palm, quickly gaining insight into its identity.
[Wood Spirit Pearl, a high-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, containing thirty-six innate prohibitions. It can connect with the Dao of the rise and fall of nature, integrating both offence and defence. Its power is unmatched.]“No wonder the entire valley was enveloped in a great innate Yi Wood formation—it was because of you.”
A look of realisation crossed Zhong Yue’s face. When he had first arrived in this world, he had discovered that the valley was surrounded by a formation.
However, at the time, he couldn’t understand it. Later, after acquiring heaven-defying comprehension, he was able to study the formation, but had no time to investigate the cause.
He hadn’t expected the source of it all to be this very Wood Spirit Pearl.
“Thinking about it now, I should be grateful to you. If not for your protection, my original form might have perished long ago in that ancient war between Dao and Demon.”
Gazing at the pearl, Zhong Yue’s expression grew contemplative.
Although his original self had not yet developed sentience, it still possessed the instinct to imprint the world’s phenomena. That battle which shook the heavens and split the earth was still etched into Zhong Yue’s memory.
It was precisely because of this that he had been so desperate to undergo transformation—he did not want to be caught off guard by calamity one day.
After all, even with the protection of an innate formation, such things weren’t always guaranteed.
Just then, a grand voice echoed from the heavens above.
“Reclining high above the ninth layer of clouds, seated on a cattail mat to realise the true Way, beyond the mysteries of Heaven and Earth, I shall be the honoured Master of Teachings. From Pangu came the birth of the Taiji, and the Two Forms and Four Symbols follow in turn!”
“I am Hongjun. Today I have attained the Great Dao of the Hunyuan Saint. A thousand years hence, I shall open a place of teaching in the Chaos beyond the heavens, to be named the Purple Cloud Palace.”
“I shall preach the Dao in the Purple Cloud Palace. All who are fated may come and listen.”
As his words fell, a vast will surged into existence, sweeping across the boundless expanse of the Great Desolation. Everywhere it passed, all living beings bowed low in reverence.
Within the mountain valley, sensing this majestic will, Zhong Yue merely inclined his body slightly in a gesture of respect before quickly straightening up again.
“So he has attained sainthood?”
Although he had already anticipated it, his heart could not help but tremble in awe.
The descent of a Saint brought with it an overwhelming grandeur, an aura that rendered all beings as ants. Even he could not summon the slightest will to resist.
“Fortunately, it is not yet too late. The age of the Wu and Yao should have just begun. With my extraordinary comprehension, the opportunity to attain the Dao still lies ahead.”
Having transmigrated into this world, with an exceptional foundation and a heaven-defying golden finger by his side, would it not be far too wasteful not to pursue the Great Dao of Hunyuan?
At this thought, a fiery gleam flickered in Zhong Yue’s eyes.
After his expression shifted for a moment, Zhong Yue returned to his senses and turned his gaze back to the Wood Spirit Pearl in his hand.
Attending the sermon was no longer an option. His strength was still too meagre. He would not even be able to leave the Great Desolation without being assimilated by the chaos. It was far wiser to cultivate his own path in earnest.
Fortunately, as Hongjun had only just proven the Dao, a large number of mighty beings would now rush to the Purple Cloud Palace. This meant the dangers of traversing the Great Desolation would be greatly reduced for him.
Understanding this, Zhong Yue sat down cross-legged and began refining the Wood Spirit Pearl in his hand.
Three hundred years later, a figure drifted away from the mountain valley and disappeared into the vast wilds.
