Science and Technology Library - Chapter 4
Chen Mo put down his cell phone and smiled to himself inside his dormitory within Binhai University. Today had to be the luckiest day of his life.
After he put away his cell phone, Chen Mo picked up an advanced math book and opened it.
His eyes were immediately focused.
In the book, the complicated formulas quickly became evident in his mind.
Turning page after page, ten pages in a row, he still clearly remembered the formulas, theorems, and even the processes required for solving the examples on each page.
What is going on? Am I gifted with an extraordinarily retentive memory?
Chen Mo suddenly thought back to Shu Lao’s words. His brain was now different from ordinary people, and it had become a super brain.
Chen Mo quickly turned back to the first page of the book and couldn’t wait to study it properly. He read quickly, almost as if he were only glancing, and finished each page in less than half a minute. The formulas, theorems, and various explanations and analyses are all engraved in his mind, even if he closed the book, they are still evident to him.
Chen Mo pinched his arm firmly. It hurt. It’s not a dream.
Chen Mo continued to read. He was swift. Within half an hour, he had read half the book.
Leibniz’s formula, Lagrange’s mean value theorem, Cauchy’s mean value theorem, Gauss’s formula.
Even if he only read it once, all the formulas, theorems and rules in the book were clear as day. Not only that, but all the variations for those formulas also came to mind quickly.
There had never been such a moment where advanced learning mathematics was so pure.
Chen Mo continued to study the book with a happy face. An hour later, Chen Mo finally turned the last page and closed the book. The dense formula theorem flashed in his mind, and he even remembered the exact page the formula was on.
Chen Mo was ecstatic.
The mathematics that once made him suffer was not so hard to understand now. He currently felt as though learning wasn’t so difficult.
Putting the advanced mathematics book off to the side, Chen Mo picked up the general physics book beside him and continued to work hard. Chen Mo seemed to open the door to loving learning. He couldn’t pull himself away from all the knowledge at his fingertips.
While Chen Mo was absorbed in reading, several people entered the dormitory. After seeing Chen Mo, several people’s faces were strange. Seeing him reading, their faces were shocked.
“Doesn’t the bookshelf bewitch this kid?” said a fat man who stood in front of the group.
“I think so,” said Liu De, who was wearing glasses beside him.
The other three nodded their heads.
Even though the five people talked in low voices, it was still enough to pull Chen Mo’s attention out of the book. He looked up and closed the book after seeing the fat fellow and others.
“When did you get back?”
The fat man said, “I just heard that a beautiful woman was taking care of you. You were not awake, so we decided with good intentions to disturb you. Are you ok?”
“It’s all right.” Chen Mo’s heart warmed.
“Chen Mo, what are you reading?”
Tall and thin, Zhu Gang, who looked like a bamboo pole, walked up to him and saw the physics book he was holding. His face was weird as he asked, “Chen Mo, are you on drugs?”
“Bamboo is right. Don’t hold it in when you’re on drugs. Say something when you need help and I’ll help you. It’s bad for your health to bottle it all in,” said the youngest boy from their dormitory. His name was Puyuan, and he is also called Puyuan master.
“Wool, what can I do for you? You’d better go and pray to your “benefactor.”
“Hahahaha…”
A few people burst into laughter, since he could say that sentence it was obvious that Chen Mo was alright.
“Chen Mo, I heard that the girl you saved took care of you for three days. How did you meet such a good girl? ” The fat man leaned towards Chen Mo’s ear, with an expression of desiring gossip on his face.
Thinking of Xiao Yu’s appearance, Chen Mo had a silly smile on his lips.
“Ah… I see.”
The fat man slapped Chen Mo on the shoulder meaningfully and smiled before he sat back to his original position, “Comrades, in order to celebrate the safe return of our dormitory’s hero, let’s get in a lobby together.”
“Shouldn’t we wait until tonight?”
“Next time we call chickens to eat, we just went out and had a wave. We can’t eat.”
“How does that sound strange.”
…
Five people opened up their computer game launchers while Chen Mo went back to focusing on his books.
The next day, Chen Mo woke up early in the morning and dragged his body to properly wash up before he went to the library. Last night, he was so obsessed with reading that he read all the significant courses offered at the University. As a result, he went to bed at two o’clock.
Today would be his first date with Xiao Yu. If he didn’t go because he was lazy, actually there was no reason to ponder that since that simply wouldn’t be possible.
When he arrived at the library, Chen Mo went to the bookshelf where the accident happened and looked at it. It had been cleaned up and restored to its previous state.
He picked up several books on traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacology analysis from the bookshelf and went to the study area.
On weekend mornings at the library, there were never too many people as most people would decide to sleep in instead of study. Looking around the study area for a while, Chen Mo chose a corner to sit down and quickly focused on absorbing the information in the books.
Before long, Chen Mo felt a movement beside him. Turning his head, he noticed that Xiao Yu had sat down beside him. They hadn’t agreed on a specific floor, but they both tacitly chose the floor where they first met.
“Are you feeling any lingering symptoms?”
Xiao Yu glanced at him.
“No.” Chen Mo shook his head slightly.
“Are you studying medicine?” Xiao Yu referred to the stacked books on traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacological analysis.
“I just wanted to learn about it.”
Chen Mo’s answer made Xiao Yu’s eyes twinkle for a moment before she suddenly thought of something, she blushed slightly and decided to focus on the book.
Inside the library, it was quiet again.
Chen Mo’s attention was on the book, and his eyes were focused. A sample of the drug was clearly illustrated in his mind including all the details, the introduction of drugs, their functions, he completely remembered them in his mind.
The reason why he looked at traditional Chinese medicine was straightforward. He needed to clearly understand the types of drugs in the potential development technology. If you want to use a prescription, you have to know the name of the drug, because the technical recorded name was usually different from the one used.
He had the potential development technology, and if he wanted to stimulate his own potential he had to take experimental medicine. But he did not have the tools to make them. With what he had right now it would be impossible to extract the medication, so he was reduced to using only the most primitive methods…
Chen Mo’s reading speed was also speeding up, 10 seconds a page, but the retention for and efficacy of each drug still stayed in his mind.
In the dead silence of the library the only noises were the barely audible human language from outside. Inside there was only the sound of pages with the books being turned endlessly.
Before long, Chen Mo felt that the atmosphere was a bit wrong. He looked up and saw that there was another girl now sitting opposite of him.
The girl was wearing a short skirt and her skin was white. She was very beautiful but she lacked the refreshing liveliness that Xiao Yu had.
Xiao Yu’s face was flushed at this time. She looked at the girl’s face and was nervous.
“Hello, my name is Li Ruoxi, Xiao Yu’s best friend.”
Li Ruoxi smiled and put out her small hand in front of Chen Mo.
“Hello, my name is Chen Mo.”
After gently shaking hands, Li Ruoxi took back her hand and stared at him directly as she said, “You look like you want to learn more than just your studies. You wanted to catch our family’s little Xiao?”
Sweat!
Chen Mo was sweating, he truly didn’t expect this girl to be so straightforward. He could still be considered a friend. Moreover, he was still learning about her.
“If you don’t answer, I’ll take it as my guess being right.” Li Ruoxi’s eyes curved into a crescent shape. “Due to the fact that last time you risked your life to save Xiao Yu, I can consider it the first test, and you passed. Now I’ll tell you some important information. Do you want to hear it? ”
Chen Mo looked at Xiao Yu and found that her face was still red, she was pretending to read as though she wasn’t bothered, but she had no idea what she was even reading.
“Sure!” Chen Mo looked back at Li Ruoxi.
“Our family has a nickname for Xiao Yu, it’s Xiao Mao. Like kittens, because the characters like kittens, are quiet, docile and smart; sometimes a little wild. Kitten also has a potential to have a coquettish personality. Whether you see it or not depends on whether you have this blessing,” Li Ruoxi said meaningfully.
Xiao Yu’s face went red from ear to neck. She wanted to stop Li Ruoxi, but this was the library. She dared not speak loudly. Li Ruoxi pretended not to see her, which made her feel even more helpless.
“Nicknamed a kitten, it is natural that she likes to eat fish. She is also a fisherman’s daughter. She grew up by the sea and likes the color of it. Her height is 165, weight is 49, three circumference and leg length, do you want to know more measurements? Come here, I’ll tell you quietly.”
Li Ruoxi gave a sneaky smile and pointed to Chen Mo.
