Chapter 20: World Announcement: Apocalypse Disaster.
[Congratulations to all the Shelter Masters who survived the first day.]
[There are still 1.997 billion shelter masters left.]
The world paused at this number. While 2 billion may seem like a small difference compared to 3 million, the reality was stark—3 million human lives lost.
Though the shelters were still in protective mode, so many had already perished.
This was the danger of the apocalyptic world.
[User 1: Did 3 million people really lose their lives on the first day?]
[User 1: This world is incredibly dangerous; it’s safer in the shelter.]
[User 2: As we adapt, I expect this number to drop.]
[User 3: Even Su Mu’s advantages won’t last forever.]
[User 3: Progress is everything in this world!]
The night was a time for reflection.
The death of 3 million was a grim reminder to all survivors: This was the true apocalyptic world.
The World Announcement continued to scroll across the screen.
[World Announcement: In three days, the protection of the shelters will disappear. Additionally, in three days, the first apocalyptic disaster will strike.]
[Anyone who survives the apocalyptic disaster will receive generous rewards!]
[Please continue to strive and survive the coming catastrophe.]
Everyone’s expressions froze upon seeing this.
[User 1: Apocalyptic disaster? What does that even mean?]
[User 2: The words ‘apocalypse’ and ‘disaster’ aren’t exactly reassuring.]
[User 3: Are we really going to face an apocalyptic disaster in such a dangerous world?]
[User 4: Wait, don’t speak yet, the world broadcast isn’t finished!]
Suppressing their curiosity, everyone continued watching the World Announcement.
[This apocalyptic disaster is: Acid Rain.]
Acid Rain.
The survivors now understood the gravity of the situation.
Acid rain was no ordinary disaster—it was highly acidic rain that could corrode everything on the ground.
Panic began to spread in the world chat.
[User 5: Acid rain? How can we stop that?]
[User 6: Is that the apocalyptic disaster? When acid rain comes, there’s no stopping it!]
[User 7: Our shelters are just flimsy wooden huts. How can they withstand acid rain?]
[User 8: We need to build stone roofs or upgrade our shelters!]
[User 9: Didn’t Su Mu get a lot of construction materials for free earlier?]
[User 10: With the disaster coming, it looks like Su Mu might have benefited again.]
At that moment, Su Mu was busy building a roof. Although he didn’t have blueprints, he had plenty of construction materials.
“Acid rain, described as an apocalyptic disaster, can’t just be ordinary acid rain,” he thought . “Otherwise, it wouldn’t be classified as an apocalyptic disaster.”
Looking at the ceiling, Su Mu decided upgrading the shelter to level two would be the safest course of action. After all, the severity of the apocalyptic disaster was still unknown.
“But the real danger is the water source,” he reflected. “Acid rain will contaminate all surface water. Even if there are some hidden underground rivers, they will be hard to find.”
Su Mu glanced at the map of the decaying wasteland.
After confirming the two locations he needed to visit tomorrow, he laid down on the pile of weeds in his shelter.
The bed in the level one shelter was simple, but it didn’t matter much. Su Mu opened the trade market first.
Normally, only friends could chat, but during trades, both parties could select special items for communication.
[User : Brother Su Mu, I have some really nice selfies here.]
[User: My shorts got torn by a small dog outside today, so I couldn’t resist taking some photos.]
[User : Can I trade these photos for some bones? I want to make bone soup.]
Su Mu wouldn’t pay attention to such things, but it was hard to resist the temptation of something for free.
Since the photos had already been sent, who could resist looking at them?
After casually viewing a few, Su Mu rested until the next day.
[Ding! The number of times the sub-entries can be refreshed has been reset.]
[The host can now refresh the sub-entries three times.]
When the new day arrived, Su Mu adjusted his status and headed to the front of the shelter.
[Level 1 Brick Wall]
[Quality: Excellent]
[Durability: 200/200]
[Sub-entries: Not refreshed.]
Su Mu examined the wall. He could add sub-entries to the wall, but it wasn’t strictly necessary. The shelter still had two days of protection, so the defensive structures were more for show at the moment.
To maximize efficiency, Su Mu decided to focus on items he could carry with him for now.
“Bear with me for now,” he muttered. “I’ll update your sub-entries when I need you.”
Su Mu tapped the brick wall and stepped out of the shelter, using the map to guide him to the Energy Stone Mine.
