Chapter 10: A person without windfall will not prosper.
“Ah Gu,” the leader called out to someone outside the hall.
“Coming,” a very ordinary young man entered.
“How did it go with the task I assigned to you today?” The leader asked with a darkened face.
“Leader, I haven’t seen anyone from the Blood Beard group.”
Ah Gu gritted his teeth and said, “I waited on the designated hill all day, but I never saw any of them.”
“Impossible, I personally made the arrangement with the Blood Beard group.” The leader suddenly stood up.
He looked at Ah Gu with a fierce aura and asked menacingly, “Are you sure you didn’t see anyone from the Blood Beard group on that hill?”
“Leader, I wouldn’t dare lie to you.” Ah Gu restrained himself from backing away.
“Hmph! Then maybe something delayed them.” The leader stared at Ah Gu for a moment before retracting his killing intent. He ordered, “Go back to that hill tomorrow and tell them that the plan has been moved forward. The time is set for the day after tomorrow.”
“Yes.” Ah Gu respectfully replied.
“Go then.” The leader waved his hand.
“Yes.” Ah Gu bowed his head and exited the hall.
Bang!
The leader suddenly overturned the table, his throat emitting a beast-like growl, “A bunch of damn bastards, they actually want to escape from my grasp.”
His voice rasped, “They want to go to the Moon Pond Tribe… If they don’t listen, they’ll all die.”
Since the underground well in the camp stopped producing water, some of the members of the hunting team had suggested joining the Moon Pond Tribe.
The three people who had dinner with him today were the leaders of the hunting team.
During dinner, the three of them were testing him.
The obedient dogs from before now wanted to break free.
“Originally, I had planned to take you all to join the Blood Beard group.”
The leader sat in his chair, a mocking smile curling at the corners of his mouth, “Now it seems, some people can already be discarded.”
Looking for water sources? That was just an excuse.
According to the plan he had discussed with the Blood Beard group, when the bandits attack, they would kill a few of the outer members of the camp.
He, as the leader, would pretend to be forced to join the Blood Beard group with the hunting team to protect the people in the camp.
With the support of the hunting team, he would have a certain amount of power within the Blood Beard group.
The Blood Beard group would gain more manpower and some women.
The leader would gain power and become one of the captains in the Blood Beard group.
…
Mù Liáng’s black eyes flickered with coldness, and he struggled to resist the urge to approach and slit the leader’s throat.
The irony was that the leader himself had brought the Blood Beard group to this camp.
He had originally wanted to warn the camp about the upcoming attack, but he had unexpectedly overheard such “insane” words.
With the reckless nature of the Blood Beard group, it was easy to imagine the cruel fate awaiting the elderly, women, and young girls.
What if, the girl hadn’t met those four bandit scouts today, had decided to stay in the camp, and not left with him… what would the consequences be?
Mù Liáng shook his head, shaking off the unnecessary thoughts.
He recalled the dirty, innocent smile of the girl, then glanced at the leader who was muttering to himself in frustration.
Mù Liáng made up his mind. He would sentence this scumbag to death.
He stepped out from the shadows, his steps as silent as a ghost.
He avoided the reflection of flames along the wall, ensuring his shadow wouldn’t betray him.
Finally, Mù Liáng arrived behind the leader.
“Those damn bastards… Why can’t they just be obedient dogs?”
The leader leaned his head back on the chair, the more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
Mù Liáng tilted his head coldly, glancing at the rough cloth on the chair armrest. He picked up the towel, rolling it into a strip.
“The daughter of those three men seems quite nice… Uh…”
As the leader fantasized about how to deal with the disobedient dogs, his mouth was suddenly covered with the rolled towel.
“Ugh… ugh…”
He struggled in fear, trying to rise, but Mù Liáng held his neck with one arm, preventing him from moving.
“Welcome to hell,” Mù Liáng said calmly.
“Ugh… ugh…” The leader’s eyes widened in panic as he scratched at the arm around his neck.
In his panic, he realized that, despite being a strengthened individual, he couldn’t even budge Mù Liáng’s arm that was wrapped around his neck.
“Goodbye.”
Crack~~
Mù Liáng easily twisted the leader’s neck with the knife, snapping it.
The leader’s body went limp, his head hanging lifelessly on the armrest, staring at the door to the hall with unblinking eyes.
“Why bother?” Mù Liáng shook out the towel and casually tossed it over the leader’s head.
After eliminating the leader, Mù Liáng leisurely searched the hall. He picked up several iron dining knives from the ground.
He wasn’t picky, throwing all the iron items into his backpack.
Used by others? No problem. He’d just melt them down and remelt them later.
“Not bad, plenty of good stuff.”
Mù Liáng took down a few long knives and swords from the wall, wrapped them in cloth, and secured them to his back.
After searching the hall, he entered the leader’s room.
“Yo, this scum knows how to enjoy himself.”
Mù Liáng raised an eyebrow when he saw the luxurious arrangement inside.
The bed was covered with unknown beast fur, the walls displayed three wolf head trophies, and on the bedside table, there was an exquisite long knife.
Mù Liáng shrugged and immediately took the long knife, tying it to his back. He opened the drawer of the bedside table, finding a wooden box.
He opened the box, revealing seven large and small beast crystals.
“Found them.” Mù Liáng smiled, taking the beast crystals and clutching them in his palm.
“Ping! Energy source detected, would you like to convert it into evolution points?”
“Convert.” One of the main reasons Mù Liáng had come here was to find the beast crystals.
“Ping! Conversion successful, obtained evolution points: 340.”
“A person without windfall will not prosper.”
Mù Liáng shook his head with a sigh.
Adding the original 80 evolution points, he now had a total of 420.
With that, he could evolve three level-3 tamed beasts.
