Chapter 14: The Audacious Plan to Steal from the Leader’s Home.
Mi Nuo, with her rear end sticking up, knelt beside the bed, her head buried beneath it as she fiddled with something unknown.
When Mu Liang returned to the wooden shack carrying two buckets of water, he saw the young girl in this position.
He couldn’t help but ask, “What are you doing?”
“Ah!” Mi Nuo jumped in surprise.
“Bang!”
The next second, the young girl’s head collided with the bed board.
Mi Nuo furrowed her brow, rubbing the back of her head, and crawled out from beneath the bed with a pitiful look.
Mu Liang’s lips curled up, “Are you okay?”
“What… what have you been doing?”
Mi Nuo shot a glare at Mu Liang, her many questions piling up, though she didn’t know where to start.
“I went to get something to eat.” Mu Liang replied casually.
“Something???”
Mi Nuo then noticed the two extra wooden buckets on the floor.
She rolled her eyes dramatically and retorted, “This is what you call ‘something’? Did you empty the leader’s house?”
“No, there’s still a lot of stuff left.” Mu Liang denied it firmly.
Thinking of the goods in the leader’s house made him almost want to go back for more.
However, when Mu Liang had left, he had seen quite a few people heading toward the leader’s home, which meant that Ah Gu had not let him down.
“You really… have guts.” Mi Nuo covered her face, not expecting her guess to be true.
The girl moved closer to Mu Liang, her cheeks puffing out as she frowned seriously.
“You need to tell me in advance before you do things like this, so I can prepare.”
She had been struggling with how to hide the things they’d taken.
“This plan didn’t go as expected. I just wanted to bring back a little water at first.”
Mu Liang shrugged, acting helpless.
After all, he had heard the leader’s crazy words and thought, ‘Why not go all the way?’ and wiped them out.
“The leader will soon realize the things were stolen.”
Mi Nuo lowered her voice and asked, “What do you think about hiding the stuff on Little Xuanwu’s back?”
“No need to hide them.” Mu Liang waved his hand dismissively.
“Why not? The leader will send people to search the houses.”
Mi Nuo stomped her foot in frustration and reminded him, “With all this stuff, we can’t hide it here.”
“The leader has already been killed by me.” Mu Liang said calmly.
“Eh, eh, eh???”
Mi Nuo’s blue eyes widened in disbelief.
She stared at Mu Liang, trying to determine if he was joking.
“Really.”
Mu Liang briefly explained how the leader had colluded with the Bloody Bearded ones.
“Good job! He deserved to die, that heartless scum.”
Mi Nuo was furious after hearing the story.
Mu Liang smiled slightly, quietly watching the girl puff out her cheeks, looking quite adorable.
“What are you… what are you looking at?” Mi Nuo’s face turned slightly red.
“No, nothing.”
Mu Liang averted his gaze and said gently, “The people in the camp are leaving tomorrow.”
Mi Nuo’s blue eyes sparkled with excitement as she asked, “Does that mean we’ll leave with them?”
“No, we’ll stay in the camp for two more days.” Mu Liang shook his head.
“But that’s too dangerous! The Bloody Bearded ones could attack at any time.” Mi Nuo said with some concern.
“There won’t be any danger. We just need to wait for their spies to come.”
Mu Liang’s lips curled up into an inexplicable smile.
“Wait… What are you planning to do?” Mi Nuo had a bad feeling.
“I’m planning to steal from the Bloody Bearded ones.” Mu Liang said calmly.
“Eh?”
Mi Nuo’s blue eyes went wide, her face showing astonishment and shock.
She suspected she had misheard and stammered, “Mu Liang, you… you’re serious?”
“You didn’t hear wrong. I plan to raid the thieves’ hideout and take some good stuff.”
Mu Liang had gotten this idea when he learned the leader had cooperated with the Bloody Bearded ones to attack the camp.
Now, he planned to lure the Bloody Bearded ones into attacking the camp.
It would be a classic ‘bait and switch’—Mu Liang would steal from them while they thought the camp was under siege.
“Mu Liang, you’re crazy.”
Mi Nuo’s face turned pale as she grabbed his arm.
She anxiously tried to dissuade him, “That’s a thieves’ group with over five hundred members! One mistake and we could lose our lives.”
“According to my plan, there won’t be five hundred people there.”
Mu Liang raised a finger and shook it gently, asking softly, “Didn’t we kill their spy today?”
“Mm.” Mi Nuo nodded.
“There won’t be any spies returning today.”
Mu Liang continued explaining his plan, “Tomorrow, the Bloody Bearded ones will definitely send new spies.”
“And their hideout is over a day’s travel from here. The spies won’t arrive until the day after tomorrow.”
Mu Liang recalled the intel gathered from interrogating the spy.
He added, “The day after tomorrow, we’ll make it look like everyone from the camp just fled.”
“Mi Nuo, if you were Bloody Bearded, would you send someone to chase us?”
Mu Liang smiled lightly.
“Probably…” Mi Nuo hesitated.
“If you think they would… then the spies will rush back to report the situation immediately.”
Mu Liang shrugged, speaking with a playful tone, “By then, the Bloody Bearded ones will think they’ve been tricked by the leader, and they’ll bring people over for retaliation.”
“Seems like it…” Mi Nuo nodded, surprised.
“But actually, by the time they arrive, the people from the camp will have already been gone for three days. The Bloody Bearded ones won’t be able to chase us.”
Mu Liang said confidently, “At that point, there won’t be many people at the thieves’ hideout. That’s when we’ll steal.”
The plan was to exploit the timing—making the Bloody Bearded ones think the camp had just left, and then take advantage of that misunderstanding.
“The key is how to fool the spy coming the day after tomorrow, making them think the camp just evacuated.”
“Do you think we can pull it off?” Mi Nuo asked with concern.
“If we fail, it’s no big deal. We’ll just waste a couple more days.” Mu Liang shrugged, unconcerned.
It was always just a test.
If it worked, the Beast Crystal Shards should be plentiful, and maybe they could evolve a level 4 beast for taming.
