002: The First Tamed Animal
Ding! Detectable tamable creature found, binding the Divine Tamer System… 90%…
Ding! Divine Tamer System successfully bound. User guide issued.
Mu Liang hadn’t fully reacted when a message appeared in his mind.
After reading it, he finally understood what was going on.
An intelligent system from a higher-dimensional world, designed to train “Tamers,” had accidentally been swept into a chaotic space-time vortex during its transfer process. By coincidence, it fused with Mu Liang, who was currently in the midst of transmigration.
As expected of something from a higher dimension. Even an intelligent system meant for training professionals can affect reality in this lower-dimensional world.
Mu Liang sighed internally, multitasking as he sorted out the functions of the Divine Tamer System.
The system’s current permissions were relatively low, so its functionality was quite simple:
It allowed the user to tame animals and help them evolve.
As the host, Mu Liang could inherit a unique talent from each tamed animal.
He had one taming opportunity refreshed daily, while evolution required evolution points.
Evolution points could be obtained from energy-containing items.
Using his gamer instincts, Mu Liang mentally asked the system, “System, can you generate detailed attributes for my body?”
Ding! Scanning the host’s base attributes…
The next second, a virtual interface appeared on Mu Liang’s retina:
Tamer: Mu Liang
Stamina: 3
Speed: 2.6
Strength: 3.2
Mental Power: 2.7
Lifespan: 24 years/79 years
Taming Points: 10 (Refreshed daily; can accumulate)
Evolution Points: 0
Abilities: None
(Scan complete. Baseline for ordinary humans: 1.)
Tamed Creatures: None
The attributes were very basic. Not even the skills Mu Liang had acquired as a special forces soldier in his previous life were listed.
Mu Liang smirked slightly, murmuring, “Well, living until 79 years old is a pleasant surprise.”
“Mu Liang, are you willing to stay?”
Mino hadn’t heard what he just muttered, but seeing him smile, she assumed he’d agreed to stay.
“I’ll go handle the tax payment!”
Not waiting for Mu Liang to respond, Mino hurriedly began gathering her things, afraid to hear him refuse.
The girl packed seven small lizards into a cloth bag, picked out five dried lizards from a wooden box, and left three for food.
Mino glanced at the turtle in Mu Liang’s hand with a hint of reluctance. It had been a gift from her sister, meant to eat the insects infesting their wooden shed.
One turtle could be traded for ten small lizards.
“We’re still short of thirty-three lizards,” Mino calculated in her head. Her lips curved upward as she encouraged herself, “In three days, if I set up more stone-press traps, I can definitely gather enough for both of our taxes!”
“Mino, we can’t hand over this turtle.”
Mu Liang shook his head, interrupting the girl’s plan.
“Why not?”
Mino was stunned for a moment before realizing something.
Her face paled as her mood sank. “Mu Liang… do you still not want to stay?”
“Can I keep this turtle for myself?” Mu Liang asked, sidestepping the question.
“Eh? You want this turtle?”
Mino froze for three seconds.
Hearing no mention of him leaving, her mood brightened again. With a generous wave of her hand, she said, “Sure, you can have the little turtle.”
Putting down the cloth bag, Mino tilted her head in mild distress, mumbling to herself, “Without the little turtle, we’re short by forty-three lizards now.”
“Should I go set traps in farther areas?”
Watching the girl clumsily sketch a map of the surrounding areas in the dirt, pondering where to set traps for more lizards, Mu Liang silently chuckled.
Looking at the turtle in his hands, he felt an unexpected warmth in his heart.
“System, tame the turtle in my hands,” Mu Liang ordered mentally.
Ding! Detected Level 0 creature: Land Turtle. Beginning taming process…
Ding! Consumed 10 Taming Points. Taming successful.
As Mu Liang heard the system notifications, the turtle in his hands began to glow faintly.
The turtle’s body started to grow larger, so Mu Liang quickly placed it on the ground.
“Step back a bit to give it space.”
He pulled the bewildered Mino back two or three steps.
“What’s going on?”
Mino instinctively glanced toward the shed’s door in alarm.
But soon, she was captivated by the glowing turtle on the ground, which was growing larger before her eyes.
“Why is the turtle getting bigger?”
“Could it be turning into a beast?”
Mino’s face turned pale as she thought of something terrifying.
Quickly drawing the bone dagger from her waist, she lunged forward, intent on killing the turtle.
“Don’t move; it’s fine,” Mu Liang said, grabbing her arm. Letting the newly tamed turtle be killed would be ridiculous.
“Mu Liang, kill it now! If it evolves into a beast, we’re both doomed!”
Mino had witnessed the destruction caused by beasts before, and the memory still haunted her.
“Don’t worry. The turtle has already been tamed by me,” Mu Liang reassured her.
At this point, the turtle finished its transformation.
From its palm-sized original form, it had grown to over a meter in length and width.
The once-cute turtle now had a menacing head. Its dark-brown shell was rough and uneven, resembling a large rock.
Ding! Level 0 Land Turtle evolved into Rock-Armored Turtle (Level 1).
“Tamed?”
Mino blinked, cautiously asking, “Really? It won’t attack people?”
“Of course. Let me show you.”
Mu Liang beckoned to the Rock-Armored Turtle, transmitting his intent through their mental connection.
After being successfully tamed, the turtle had formed a bond with him and radiated a sense of trust.
The Rock-Armored Turtle crawled over, rubbing its head affectionately against Mu Liang’s palm and closing its eyes as if to show its friendliness.
“See? I wasn’t lying.”
Mu Liang gestured to Mino, feeling the rough texture of the turtle’s head—it was like touching a stone.
“How did you do that?” Mino exclaimed, eyes wide with disbelief.
“Did you forget? Awakened ones can do this sort of thing,” Mu Liang replied casually.
