005: The Girl with Blue Rabbit Ears.
Ding!
“Detected tamable animal, would you like to tame it?”
The Tamer System’s prompt sounded.
Mu Liang suddenly realized that the color-changing ability of the small lizard seemed quite useful.
Moreover, his taming points had been refreshed today, and he could now tame a second animal.
Every day after midnight, his taming points would reset to 10 points.
Mu Liang issued the command: “Tame the color-changing lizard.”
Ding!
“Detected Level 0 Lifeform: Color-changing Lizard, beginning taming…”
Ding!
“Consumed 10 taming points, taming successful.”
The color-changing lizard’s body glowed white, no longer struggling but rather shaking its claws comfortably.
Three seconds passed, and the color-changing lizard evolved into the size of a palm, its scales and skin turning into a pattern of green, red, and blue stripes.
Ding!
“Do you wish to inherit the Tri-color Lizard’s talent: Mimicry?”
“Sure.” Mu Liang nodded slightly.
Ding!
“Mimicry ability improvement in progress… adapting… inheritance complete.”
Mu Liang felt a cool sensation on his skin, and a slight warmth flowed through his body, barely noticeable unless one paid close attention.
“System, show my character attributes.” Mu Liang wanted to check if there had been any changes.
Tamer: Mu Liang.
Physical Strength: 6.2
Speed: 4.5
Strength: 5.1
Mental Power: 9
Lifespan: 24 years / 110 years
Taming Points: 0. (Reset every day, can accumulate)
Evolution Points: 0
Abilities:
- Earth Spike (Level 1)
- Mimicry (Level 1)
- (Ordinary humans have a base stat of 1 for each attribute)
- …
- Tamed Beasts:
- Rock Armored Turtle: Talent: Earth Spike. (Level 1)
- Tri-color Lizard: Talent: Mimicry. (Level 1)
- …
“The four-dimensional attributes only increased slightly; the real bonus from the Tri-color Lizard is its talent?”
Mu Liang activated his ability, Mimicry. A cool sensation passed over his skin, and the light around his body shifted.
The entire process took almost one second.
Mu Liang’s eyes flicked around, and he noticed his clothes, shoulders, and back had changed to earth-toned colors like the yellow and brown of rocks.
Ten seconds, one minute, ten minutes…
Mu Liang stood still, testing if there was a time limit to the Mimicry ability.
Half an hour passed.
“It seems there’s no time limit for now.”
Mu Liang moved his arms and legs, noticing that the Mimicry effect faded, revealing his original colors.
“I see now, the color change happens through the bending of light. As long as the body moves, the Mimicry ability will deactivate.”
Mu Liang understood the pros and cons of the Mimicry ability.
He couldn’t help but smile and mutter, “This ability is really powerful for decapitation or stealth.”
“Go ahead, stay hidden around me.”
Mu Liang gently set the Tri-color Lizard down.
The Level 1 Tri-color Lizard wasn’t strong enough to do much yet, so for now, he would just keep it as a pet.
The Tri-color Lizard looked up at Mu Liang and quickly crawled up the rock wall, staying at a distance and following him.
As long as it remained still, it would disappear from sight.
“If it develops an attack talent, it could definitely become an assassin—Stealth Lizard.” Mu Liang thought mischievously.
He pulled his military knife out from the rock wall, placed the dead small lizard into his pocket, and began searching for more prey.
After searching for over two hours, he found mostly small lizards.
Occasionally, he found a few poisonous scorpions and small insects.
Mu Liang wasn’t interested in eating these things and would only resort to it when necessary.
“These are rat holes.”
Mu Liang found several burrows and examined the footprints at the entrances.
He planned to send the Tri-color Lizard into the hole to drive the rats out.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching from a distance.
With his years of experience as a special forces soldier, Mu Liang immediately judged the situation, quickly pressed himself against the rock wall, and activated Mimicry to hide.
Less than a minute later, a familiar yet unfamiliar figure appeared in his line of sight.
It was Mino.
However, the unfamiliar part was that Mino had a pair of long blue rabbit ears on top of her head.
“Quick, chase her! Don’t let her get away!”
“You’re dead now, daring to steal our prey.”
“We’ll kill you if we catch you.”
…
Four voices shouted threats as they chased the girl, holding bone knives and wooden spears.
“A bunch of shameless people.”
Mino shouted angrily, “When did the prey caught in my traps become yours?”
She was still running while cursing back, clearly unfazed.
Mu Liang waited for the three people in front to pass by him without stopping their chase.
When the fourth person came into view, Mu Liang suddenly reached out and grabbed his chin, using the momentum of his run to slam his head down into the ground.
Crack!
A light sound echoed as the neck was snapped.
The fourth person’s mouth was covered, unable to make a sound before dying.
Mu Liang had dealt with one person in less than two seconds.
He got up and quickly followed the other three, catching up with them.
Using the same method, Mu Liang quickly dealt with another person.
The remaining two didn’t hear their comrades’ cries, gasps, or footsteps.
They sensed something was wrong and stopped in their tracks, turning to look behind them.
“Who are you?”
“What did you do to them?”
The two tightly gripped their wooden spears and bone knives, shouting in panic.
Mu Liang stopped four meters away from them.
Mino, hearing the calls from behind, turned her head curiously to look.
“Eh???” The girl widened her mouth in surprise, never expecting Mu Liang to appear behind her.
She had already taken a route that bypassed Mu Liang, yet they still met.
Mino shouted, “Mu Liang, run!”
“So, you’re in cahoots with them.”
The two who had been chasing relaxed upon hearing her shout.
They were afraid of encountering those who specifically hunted scavengers for sport.
“Kill him first.”
The leader, holding a wooden spear, charged forward, aiming for Mu Liang’s chest with the spear.
…
Mu Liang smoothly sidestepped the spear and, using the momentum, quickly closed the distance. He elbowed the leader in the chest.
Crack!
The leader’s chest bone snapped, and his body was sent flying, landing on the ground and spitting out blood.
Normally, Mu Liang’s physical strength was already three times that of an ordinary person.
With the reinforcement from the Rock Armored Turtle, it was nearly doubled.
Mu Liang used just a little force, and the ordinary person had no chance against him.
“You’re a reinforced person…”
The one holding the bone knife was slow to react, his pale face raised the bone knife but couldn’t decide whether to attack or retreat.
“Mu Liang, dodge!” Mino shouted urgently.
The girl had already rushed forward and kicked the bone knife wielder away.
Thud!
The bone knife wielder was kicked to the ground. Upon seeing his bloodied comrades, he was instantly terrified.
“You can’t kill me, I’m one of Bloodbeard’s men.”
The one with the bone knife immediately revealed his backing in an attempt to intimidate them.
