Chapter 7: Pay No Attention to Me, I Saw Nothing!
Even though Lian Qingxue was a bit dazed by Qi Yun’s antics, she noticed that his learning speed exceeded her expectations. Initially, Qi Yun’s performance was not even at the level of a high school freshman. Many basic concepts were unfamiliar to him. However, no matter the subject, Qi Yun could quickly grasp it and even extrapolate further.
Lian Qingxue looked at Qi Yun and was speechless for a long time.
“What’s the matter?” Qi Yun asked.
“I believe you now!” she admitted.
“About what?”
“About you being a top student. It’s true!”
Lian Qingxue was actually feeling a bit dejected. After all, she felt that her only source of pride in front of Qi Yun was her academic performance. But now, how come Qi Yun seems much smarter than her? She wasn’t jealous of Qi Yun, but if Qi Yun was better than her in everything, how could she be his equal as a friend? She really wanted to be Qi Yun’s friend, but friends shouldn’t always be inferior to each other, right?
Seeing the expression on Lian Qingxue’s face, Qi Yun reached out and touched her head. “Actually, my learning speed is related to the environment!” he said.
“The environment?” Lian Qingxue blinked, intrigued. Could she also learn that fast?
“As long as there’s a pretty girl by my side, I can learn very quickly,” Qi Yun stated with a serious face.
In an instant, Lian Qingxue’s face turned beet red. “Pretty girl? Are you talking about me? Where am I pretty?” she mumbled, her voice barely audible.
“Lady, do you have some misunderstanding about your own beauty?” Qi Yun found that the young Lian Qingxue, standing before him, lacked confidence. Despite her stunning looks, she was always looking down. Despite her pleasant voice, she spoke softly. Everyone looked at her background and academic performance as symbols of hard work and inspiration. However, she didn’t seem to think much of her own achievements. She lacked confidence.
Seeing Qi Yun’s sincerity, Lian Qingxue gradually let go of her inner frustration. When Lian Qingxue overcame her emotional turmoil, she realized that a student like Qi Yun was a teacher’s dream. At first, Lian Qingxue was teaching Qi Yun. Later, she felt like she had nothing more to teach. In the end, she naturally started asking Qi Yun for help with the topics in the book.
Lian Qingxue loved learning much more than Qi Yun. As Qi Yun easily solved each problem, Lian Qingxue’s eyes lit up, and she found herself getting closer and closer to him. By the time she came back to her senses, she found that she was almost leaning on Qi Yun. She could even feel Qi Yun’s warm breath on her cheek.
Lian Qingxue, like a startled deer, quickly jumped away. But she was too hasty and ended up bumping into a desk, losing her balance and falling to the ground. Qi Yun reached out to grab her, but he was too late. Instead, Lian Qingxue’s fall caused Qi Yun to fall as well. There was a rip, and a long tear appeared on the sleeve of Lian Qingxue’s school uniform.
Just then, the room door burst open, and Qi Yun’s mother popped her head in. “I heard some noise. Is everything okay?” Seeing the two of them on the floor, her son half-lying on Lian Qingxue, and Lian Qingxue’s clothes in disarray, Qi Yun’s typically boisterous mother slowly quieted down.
“Cough, don’t mind me, I didn’t see anything, I just came out for a drink of water!” Qi Yun’s mother nonchalantly closed the door.
After a moment, the door opened again, “You two can play, but be careful…” Qi Yun’s mother gave Qi Yun a meaningful look.
Back in her room, watching her husband watching TV on the bed, she slapped her thigh, “Unbelievable! The young ones these days are much wilder than us back in the day!”
Once the door was shut again, Lian Qingxue and Qi Yun quickly scrambled off the floor. They were both somewhat silent. After all, their previous position had been a little too intimate.
“I…I should go home now!” Lian Qingxue, sensing that the atmosphere was somewhat strange, immediately wanted to leave.
Qi Yun pointed to her sleeve, “You’re going home like this?”
Lian Qingxue’s school uniform was already old and of poor quality. After Qi Yun’s tug, only half of her left sleeve remained, revealing the young girl’s slender and delicate arm.
