Chapter 20: Hua Jin! The Birth of Innate Qi!
Yang Yi exhaled slowly, his gaze firm as he issued another command to the system.
“Extract the remaining thirty years of condensed cultivation. Continue refining the Ancient Breathing Technique.”
There was no point hoarding cultivation time. The only way forward was to convert it into raw power. His next battle would be against the tomb guardians, and he needed to step into the Hua Jin realm before that confrontation. Anything less would be too risky. For now, martial techniques could wait—raw strength took priority.
Ding!
[The host has entered condensed cultivation mode!].
[For the first five years, you remained at the peak of Dark Jin, struggling to grasp the key to transforming Jin into Qi. Unable to break through, you continued refining your energy.].
[Another five years passed, but the breakthrough eluded you. However, during this time, you accumulated an immense reserve of Dark Jin, and a seventh Supreme Tyrant Bone began forming.].
[After another five years, you grew frustrated and attempted to break through with sheer force. As a result, an eighth Tyrant Bone was born.].
[Ten more years passed. Your Dark Jin reached its absolute limit, and finally, from the overwhelming pressure of accumulated power, your first wisp of Qi was born!].
[In that moment, you discovered something miraculous—your Qi was not ordinary; it was Innate Qi!].
[By sheer force of will, you have pioneered an entirely new cultivation path, fusing Dark Jin with self-generated Innate Qi. Congratulations! You have stepped into the entry stage of Hua Jin.].
[Furthermore, the ninth Supreme Tyrant Bone has now fully developed.].

Yang Yi’s eyes snapped open, a shockwave of invisible force rolling off his body. It was as if the air itself had been disturbed, sending an invisible ripple outward. Standing nearby, Meng Jiangnv instinctively took a step back, her face pale with shock. For a brief moment, she felt as though she were standing before an ancient beast, its sheer presence suffocating.
“This… what is this?” Her beautiful eyes trembled, her voice carrying an unfamiliar quiver. Yang Yi ignored her for a moment, focusing on the power surging through him. “Innate Qi…”
Not just any Qi—this was Innate Qi, born entirely from within.
[Innate Qi (先天气, Xiāntiān Qì) refers to the fundamental life force or vital energy that a person is born with. In traditional Chinese philosophy, Daoism, and martial arts, it is considered the purest, most original form of Qi (气), distinct from Acquired Qi (后天气), which is cultivated through food, breathing, and external sources].
……………………………………………………………………………
In traditional martial arts, warriors cultivated Jin, refining it through various phases. First came Ming Jin, where strength was purely physical. Then Dark Jin, where internal force was refined and explosively released. Finally, Hua Jin, the point at which Jin transformed into Qi, allowing warriors to begin drawing upon the natural energy of the world.
But Yang Yi had done something unprecedented. He had generated his own Innate Qi from the relentless refinement of his Dark Jin, forcing his body to give birth to a new energy source. His entire bloodstream pulsed with power. His bones, muscles, and meridians burned with raw energy, and the ninth Tyrant Bone had fully solidified. His entire foundation had shifted.
His breathing slowed, and a new realization dawned upon him.
“My path is no longer conventional.”
Where others relied on absorbing external Qi, he had forged a self-sustaining source within himself. His cultivation from this point forward would no longer follow the traditional path.
He clenched his fists, feeling the unparalleled force coursing through his veins. With every breath, his Innate Qi flowed, reinforcing his flesh, bones, and blood. Instead of simply fueling his techniques, this energy was actively strengthening his body—his skin, muscles, and even organs were being refined continuously. “So this is my new path… not just Qi, but the perfect balance of Qi and Jin.”
He would simultaneously cultivate both, using Dark Jin to create more Innate Qi, and using Innate Qi to refine his Dark Jin. The more he accumulated, the stronger his foundation would become.
A smirk played at his lips. “It’s not just a breakthrough—this is an entirely new martial path.” No precious elixirs, no external forces—just raw willpower and relentless refinement. He wasn’t just stepping into Hua Jin. He was forging a new tier of power that had never existed before.
……………………………………………………………………………
Boom!
He threw a casual punch forward, and the air exploded violently, sending out a shockwave. The force was so powerful that the surrounding dust and debris scattered instantly, creating a temporary vacuum in the air. His blood surged like a tidal wave, a fusion of terrifying vitality and raw power. He had nine fully formed Tyrant Bones, a body filled with self-generated Innate Qi and a breakthrough that shattered conventional wisdom.
Meng Jiangnv stared at him, still in awe. Her voice trembled as she spoke. “Husband… what kind of being are you?”
Yang Yi finally turned to her, a light chuckle escaping his lips. “I was just lucky enough to break into Hua Jin,” he said casually. But Meng Jiangnv wasn’t fooled.
A Hua Jin warrior at twenty years old was beyond unheard of. It was legendary. She didn’t know what had just happened, but she knew one thing: This man standing before her was unlike any other and she was his woman.
Yang Yi rolled his shoulders, his muscles tensing as he turned back to the task at hand. “I still have work to do,” he said. “First, I need to dig a burial pit.” Then, as if an afterthought, he added, “And I’ll carve out a room in the corridor wall, too.”
He retrieved a shovel from his storage, gripping it lightly in one hand. With a small smile, he drove it into the ground.
BOOM!
The impact shook the entire stone corridor. The shovel, just a simple iron tool, pierced through the solid stone floor effortlessly, as though slicing through wet clay. Yang Yi raised an eyebrow. With his newly enhanced strength, even a basic tool had become a weapon of destruction in his hands. He paused, looking at the shovel buried deep in the rock, then down at his own hands. A thought crossed his mind. Am I too strong for my own tools now?
Even in this ancient world, he was beginning to exceed the limits of what regular weapons could handle. If this continues, I might soon reach a level where no ordinary weapon can withstand his sheer strength.
A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes. This was just the beginning.
Soon, not even the tomb guardians would be able to stop me.
