Chapter 33: Bestowing Lifespan!
Boom!
Boom!
Yang Yi raised his fist once more and, bending at the waist, smashed it hard against the ground. The tomb passage trembled with the force, and the already fractured bluestone beneath his feet shattered into dust. He did not pause. His fists kept hammering, striking the densely compacted floor again and again.
Thud, thud—
With each impact, the solid ground gave way, until a small crater formed beneath his relentless blows. After this transformation, my strength has not only increased—my resilience has also improved in astonishing ways.
He was genuinely startled as he observed the faint ache in his knuckles. Normally, even a powerful martial artist remained bound by the limitations of the human body. To shatter stone with one’s bare fists would certainly tear flesh, draw blood, and inflict pain. Yet Yang Yi felt only a dull throb, and his hands bore no wounds—only faint marks left by the repeated strikes.
Whoosh—
In the next instant, he burst forward, vanishing from view in a blink. Within the narrow corridor, several afterimages flickered in quick succession—a clear testament to the surge in his speed. Strength. Speed. Endurance. Every facet of his physical ability had been elevated. Is this the beginning of my body’s evolution into a flawless Celestial Constitution?
His thoughts wandered as he looked down at the fine layer of grey dust covering his skin. He knew exactly what it was: the impurities purged from his body during the transformation. Best to dig a pit and bury these corpses before anything else. Still full of energy, Yang Yi decided to finish the task at hand before reflecting further. With his newfound strength and a more complete set of tools, digging the burial trench took far less time than before. When all the bodies were finally interred, the heavy stench of blood that had lingered in the air dissipated significantly.

Meanwhile, not far from the passage, Meng Jiangnü and Qinglian, who had been patiently waiting, had grown visibly drowsy. “You two have some flatbread and fruit for now,” Yang Yi said, gesturing toward the bed he had summoned moments earlier. “I’ll take a quick bath.”
Finding a clean spot, he conjured a bed and laid out the food neatly upon it. At last, he summoned a full tub of water for himself. “Master, may I assist you in your bath?” Qinglian stepped forward quickly, her voice quiet but eager. She had done little since they arrived, and the unease of idleness made her anxious. Once, she had been the treasured daughter of a wealthy family. But since entering the palace, she had come to understand that nothing in life came without a price. Finer things demanded greater sacrifice.
Yang Yi caught the flicker of tension in her gaze and decided not to refuse. “Very well.” He undressed and lowered himself into the water. At the sight of his bare form, Qinglian’s face turned a vivid shade of crimson. She instinctively covered her mouth to stifle a gasp. His body was flawless—his form sculpted and powerful, the kind that would leave any woman breathless. The very lines of his muscles were enough to disarm.
“Master… I-I’m ready,” she murmured, her voice trembling. As she poured warm water gently over his shoulders, her eyes closed instinctively. A strange heat rose within her, and she fought to steady her breath. Drawing upon what she had learned in the palace, she began to massage his body with soft, practised hands.
For a time, Yang Yi simply closed his eyes, exhaling slowly in pleasure. She truly is no ordinary maid… her touch is remarkable. He sighed contentedly, basking in her attentive care.
Hiss
But the moment Qinglian reached beneath the water with a technique she had learned called Fishing for the Moon in the Sea, applying a move known as Dragon’s Grasp, Yang Yi drew in a sharp breath. A surge of vitality shot through him, and the water itself seemed to shimmer with rising steam.
“Did I hurt you, Master?” Qinglian asked, her voice wavering as tears welled in her eyes. She leaned weakly against the tub’s edge, her energy spent.
“No… it feels wonderful. Continue,” he murmured.
“Mm.”
She nodded softly, lowering her gaze further.
Splash—
Moments later, Yang Yi rose, sending ripples across the water’s surface.
“I’ll change the water. Then we’ll both bathe.”
He stepped out, drained the tub, and summoned fresh water. As he did so, his hand, like a natural spring, gushed with water that filled the bath anew. “Master—was that a divine spell?” Qinglian’s eyes lit up with wonder, her earlier shyness overtaken by curiosity.
Yang Yi chuckled and shook his head. “Just a little trick.” Still, seeing the pallor in her cheeks, he smiled and added, “Though I do have one technique that could be called truly divine.”
“What kind of spell, my lord?” asked Meng Jiangnü, who had been arranging the bedding nearby. Her curiosity had been piqued. “I call it the Art of Restoration—a technique that can bring the dead back to life and grant longevity to the living.”
He spoke proudly, though what he meant was his ability to bestow lifespan upon others. Both Qinglian and Meng Jiangnü had already reached full loyalty, meeting the system’s criteria for such a gift.
Yang Yi decided to try bestowing longevity upon Qinglian, hoping it would restore her frail condition. After striking a ceremonious pose, he lifted two fingers to his lips, muttered a few incantations for show, and then pressed his fingertips to Qinglian’s brow.
“System, grant Qinglian one hundred years of lifespan,” he commanded silently.
Ding!

The system’s voice echoed clearly. At that moment, green light burst from Yang Yi’s fingertips and entered Qinglian’s forehead. Her body trembled, and a deep flush returned to her cheeks as waves of pure vitality surged through her. Her condition transformed in an instant—like a phoenix reborn. Unable to restrain herself, she let out a soft, breathy moan.
