Villain of the urban TV/Movie Time-Travel - Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Making the Fake Real
Yang Yu didn’t waste words. He took out his phone and made a call.
The line barely rang once before it was answered.
“Master! What are your instructions?”
“Someone doubts my position as Vice Chairman. I need you to confirm it for me.”
He then handed the phone to Esther Lee.
She quickly stood up, bowed slightly, and took the phone with both hands.
“This is Chairman Lee. Yang Yu is indeed our Vice Chairman at Samsung. His shares exceed even those of my own family. He simply prefers to keep a low profile. Whoever you are, it’s in your best interest not to anger him—deal with the consequences yourself.”
With that, Chairman Lee hung up without giving Esther Lee a chance to respond.
Cold sweat broke out on Esther Lee’s forehead. She had never interacted with someone of Chairman Lee’s level before, but there was no mistaking his voice.
She returned the phone respectfully, her attitude making a complete 180-degree turn.
“It’s a blessing that our Rachel is dating someone like you.”
“When did you two start seeing each other? Rachel has been keeping this quite the secret—even from her own mother.”
Yoo Rachel was just as shocked. She had met this guy at a bar, and he turned out to be Samsung’s Vice Chairman? She had assumed he was just some rich heir.
Yang Yu casually made something up. “Honestly, I’ve failed miserably. I’ve been chasing Rachel for a long time, but she’s always been indifferent. This time, I know she’s just using me to get back at Kim Tan. But I don’t mind her reasons—when an opportunity arises, one must seize it. Don’t you agree, Ms. Lee?”
Yoo Rachel’s eyes widened in disbelief. This guy lies without even blinking! We literally met yesterday!
But Esther Lee saw it differently.
This foolish girl… How could she keep something this important from her own mother? Even an idiot knows Samsung is a better choice than Empire Group.
And that last line—*”When an opportunity arises, one must seize it”—*was clearly meant for her.
If word got out that her daughter was marrying Samsung’s Vice Chairman, RS International’s stock would skyrocket.
As a businesswoman who prioritized profit above all, Esther Lee didn’t care about her daughter’s feelings. If there were benefits to be gained, she would make it happen by any means necessary.
“Of course! Having a son-in-law like Vice Chairman Yang would be a dream come true for me.”
She flattered him enthusiastically.
“If Rachel is truly willing to marry me, I’ll offer 1% of Samsung’s shares as a dowry. What do you think, Ms. Lee?”
Yang Yu painted an enticing picture.
The more Yoo Rachel listened, the more wrong this whole situation felt. Their goal today was to stop her mother’s remarriage, so how did the conversation shift to her being sold off?
She had to stop him. She knew her mother too well—if she let Yang Yu keep talking, she would actually get sold off like a business deal.
“Hey!! Stop spouting nonsense!”
Before Yang Yu could respond, Esther Lee slapped her daughter on the head.
“You brat! Where are your manners? How could you be so rude to Vice Chairman Yang?”
She quickly apologized to Yang Yu. “I’m sorry about this, Vice Chairman Yang. She’s been spoiled by me.”
“No worries, I actually like Rachel’s personality.”
Yang Yu even winked at Yoo Rachel, flashing a smug grin.
You little thing, I don’t have time to win you over slowly. But lucky for me, your money-driven mother will take care of that for me.
Yoo Rachel glared at him furiously, her expression ice-cold.
But Yang Yu didn’t care what she thought. Even if it’s fake, I’ll make it real. Soon, she’ll be mine.
“Then it’s settled. Ms. Lee, I’ll leave the matter of breaking off her engagement with Empire Group to you.”
“Oh, and one more thing—did you know that Kim Tan is just an illegitimate son?”
Yang Yu was sure that once Esther Lee learned this, she wouldn’t agree to the marriage, even without his interference. And now that she had him as a potential son-in-law, there was no contest.
“What? The Kim family was trying to scam me? Using an illegitimate child to marry my only daughter? Unbelievable! Don’t worry, Vice Chairman Yang—I’ll handle this immediately.”
As expected, the moment she heard Kim Tan was illegitimate, Esther Lee’s face darkened with rage.
“Good. I have some other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave for now. I’ll visit you another day.”
Yang Yu shook hands with Esther Lee, then turned to Yoo Rachel, flashing a gentle smile before walking away.
