Villain - Peeking at the Diary, the Female Leads' Personas Collapse - Chapter 88
Chapter 88
Movies and TV dramas might play it safe, but novels often took things too far, introducing rich best friends or roommates at school.
If she got involved, it would be fun, especially now that her company was stable, and she had time to mess around — maybe even target the protagonist, Ye Aotian, a little.
Meanwhile, Chen Fan followed Mu Jinli to the cafeteria entrance.
In the distance, he spotted Ye Aotian with some new friends from his dormitory.
“Who’s that girl?”
“She’s the campus belle, Mu Jinli. Trust me, don’t bother. That girl is ice-cold; no one can even greet her.”
“Is she really that aloof? Maybe it’s just that no one’s tried.”
“I don’t know. All I know is that there’s zero gossip or dating rumors about her. But who’s the guy with her? I feel like I’ve seen him before.”
“That’s Chen Fan, a well-known rich second-generation from Qincheng. But they’re probably not dating; I’d bet on it.”
Ye Aotian had received some unsettling news from the Ling family. The old assassin Demon had returned and was now Chen Fan’s bodyguard. This meant the elderly Ling family members couldn’t get involved directly; doing so would break protocol, allowing Demon to retaliate.
While Ye Aotian didn’t know Demon personally, he was certain Chen Fan’s protection came from his family’s influence.
For the protagonist, relying on family wasn’t considered dependence, but for an antagonist, it certainly was.
Mu Jinli was likely assigned to protect Chen Fan at school, but Ye Aotian couldn’t imagine her being interested in him. To like Chen Fan, she’d have to have very poor taste. Shrugging off the thought, he joined his roommates in the cafeteria.
The cafeteria wasn’t crowded in the morning, so they didn’t have to wait long to eat.
“Usually, we have breakfast here. It’s affordable. Here’s your meal card; want me to grab food for you?”
“Uh, no need. I can handle it. You can just sit.”
Mu Jinli nodded and smiled. “Thanks, then. And get me extra eggs. I need more protein for my training.”
Chen Fan nodded and left.
The protagonist entered. Roommates ready to hype him up. The goddess-like campus belle sat alone.
Alright, I’ve set everything up. If you don’t go over and flirt, then you’d be wasting all the effort I put into this scene.
To make sure the plot went smoothly, Chen Fan practically twisted himself in knots to align things. Patiently standing in line, Chen Fan wasn’t in a rush, carefully playing the part of a model citizen, even letting others go ahead.
“You first.”
“Uh, thanks. Aren’t you in a hurry?”
“No rush, no rush.”
Damn it. Chen Fan was nearly ready to throw a food tray at Ye Aotian. What are you dawdling for? Hurry up. Look over there — a beautiful, fresh female lead, a university student, a scholarly goddess, a martial arts master, your future reliable ally.
Ye Aotian enjoyed his leisurely breakfast, while his roommates were itching to stir things up.
“How about a bet? Ye Aotian, I bet you can’t get her number. If you do, we’ll treat you. If not, you’ll treat us.”
Ye Aotian smirked, “Just a phone number? Watch me.”
As Ye Aotian got up, Chen Fan snatched some sunflower seeds from a nearby girl and started munching, watching intently.
It’s starting, it’s starting! It’s been so long since I’ve seen a plot like this up close. This is thrilling!
The girl he took the seeds from looked at him, then followed his gaze.
Several people started watching, sensing something was about to happen.
Ye Aotian walked confidently over and sat in front of Mu Jinli, saying, Hello.”
“Hello.” Mu Jinli’s smile vanished instantly, replaced by a cold expression.
“Uh, I made a bet with someone, saying I could get your number. Would you mind helping me out?”
“Oh, sure.”
“Great, so …” He took out his phone, but Mu Jinli grabbed it and smashed it on the ground.
Then she stood up, waved her hand, and said, “Honey, someone’s harassing me!”
Oh … damn.
Chen Fan looked around. No other men were nearby. Just himself.
Damn it, woman. You can’t just call me that. How am I supposed to continue the storyline now? But wait … Is she a genius?
In fact, Chen Fan had been worried he wouldn’t have enough reason to provoke Ye Aotian here, but this was perfect! He could rush over, get reprimanded by the protagonist, and let the protagonist show off his strength.
I’m supposed to be the rich young villain who doesn’t know martial arts. If Ye Aotian teaches me a lesson over a woman, wouldn’t that be perfect? Mu Jinli, you’re brilliant.
Only a true female lead could naturally attract the protagonist’s attention and drive the story forward.
Chen Fan set down his tray and rushed over, saying, “Ye Aotian, what’s your problem? No boundaries, huh? Didn’t you see I came with her?”
Ye Aotian smirked, “You think a spoiled rich kid like you stands a chance?”
Mu Jinli took Chen Fan’s arm and said, “Honey, he was harassing me, and I broke his phone. But I don’t have money to pay for it. What should I do?”
“No problem. I’ve got money.”
Chen Fan pulled out his wallet, took out a wad of cash, and slapped it in Ye Aotian’s face.
Oh, that felt great. I’ve never done a scene like this, but it felt fantastic. Such a rare opportunity.
Ye Aotian said, “What the hell is your problem?”
“My girlfriend broke your phone. I’m paying for it. What’s the issue?”
“This is a school, not outside. Outside, I might hesitate, but here, you should know better.”
“Touch me, and I’ll make sure your family is destroyed, along with everyone you care about.”
Ye Aotian, the protagonist, wasn’t one to back down from threats; that’s what being the protagonist was all about. Without hesitation, he reached out, ready to strike.
But Chen Fan moved first, slapping him. He didn’t hold back and applied a bit of force.
“You … you’re asking for it!”
Chen Fan prepared to be hit, knowing that the protagonist needed his moment to shine.
But Mu Jinli stepped in, blocking Ye Aotian. Ye Aotian tried to push past her but couldn’t. Mu Jinli quickly delivered a punch to Ye Aotian’s stomach. Already weakened from previous injuries, he was forced to his knees.
Then, to everyone’s shock, Mu Jinli kicked Ye Aotian to the ground and stepped on him.
The male students instinctively covered themselves, horrified.
This wasn’t flirting; she was serious.
Oh no, is the protagonist going to be rendered impotent?
“In the future, don’t go around asking for phone numbers from strangers. You know how disgusting that is, right? Like some random mutt. Keep your pants on and stop acting like a stray dog. You’ll end up diseased at this rate.”
Then, turning to Chen Fan, she said, “Honey, he tried to hit you. He didn’t know I’m your bodyguard, did he?”
“I didn’t either. Has he always been this fearless?”
Chen Fan wanted to cry. The storyline was ruined. This was beyond salvaging. All his efforts, all his planning, gone.
Ye Aotian struggled to get up, saying, “Chen Fan, don’t think that just because your family has some money, you can do as you please …”
But just then, a girl collapsed nearby.
The scene looked familiar.
Ye Aotian quickly rushed over to check on her.
“She’s having a heart attack. Does anyone have medicine?”
The surrounding students searched their belongings, but no one had any.
Ye Aotian took out his needles and began treating her.
Mu Jinli was watching, slightly dazed.
Chen Fan noticed her expression and thought, Hahaha, fate truly works in mysterious ways. This is divine intervention.
