Chapter 12: What business? Make a Million?
Chu Yuwei didn’t believe Jiang Zhou was actually doing business.
But she couldn’t figure out his true motive either.
So, she gradually started to believe what Zheng Yu said.
Could it be… that he was only pretending not to care about me?
And in reality, he was doing everything he could to attract my attention?
Hmm. That actually made a lot of sense.
That kind of Jiang Zhou seemed much more normal.
“Jiang Zhou… there’s no point in doing this.
“I already said that I won’t date until I graduate from college.
“No matter what you do, it won’t change my mind.
“So, please, stop bothering me.
“But we can still be friends. What do you think?”
Chu Yuwei regained her confidence.
She felt that cool, aloof goddess mode switch back on.
It was like she was facing the old Jiang Zhou again.
She was lofty, untouchable, worshipped by all; leaving the lovesick ones only to look up from below.
“Psycho,” Jiang Zhou rolled his eyes. “I’m not interested in a malnourished girl like you.”
Chu Yuwei glanced down at her chest, then her face instantly turned crimson.
“Jiang Zhou, you jerk!”
“I already said let’s just part on good terms. Can you not be difficult?”
“Hmph, fine, deny it all you want. I see right through you now. You’re such a phony!”
As the two exchanged barbs, the regional manager from Walmart had just finished his phone call.
He walked over, casting a slightly curious glance at Chu Yuwei.
“Mr. Jiang, do you have other business to handle?”
Jiang Zhou turned around. “No, just ran into some classmates.”
“Then… shall we continue discussing the acquisition?”
“Sure.”
Li Kun took a seat. “I just got off the phone with headquarters. We accept your offer. 1 million.”
Upon hearing that, Jiang Zhou finally smiled. “Now that’s what I call a smooth deal.”
“Shall we sign the contract now?”
“Let’s do it.”
Li Kun opened his briefcase and pulled out a contract, along with a sleek pen which he handed to Jiang Zhou.
They offered the money cleanly, so Jiang Zhou signed without hesitation.
With just a few strokes, his name landed on the document.
The deal was sealed.
A house he had bought for 480,000 was now successfully sold for a million.
His goal of doubling his capital had officially been reached.
Li Kun checked the contract and let out a breath of relief.
“Thank you, Mr. Jiang. I’ll have my secretary handle the transfer. Latest by tomorrow afternoon, the funds will be in your account.”
Jiang Zhou stood up and shook his hand again. “Thank you, Manager Li. Would you like to stay for dinner?”
“Oh no, I still have some market inspections to do. Let’s catch up another time.”
“Alright then, take care.”
As Li Kun left, he couldn’t help but glance again at the students standing nearby.
Some of them were still wearing their high school uniforms.
Wait a minute…
Didn’t Mr. Jiang say these people were his classmates?
Does that mean… he’s still in high school too?
Manager Li felt a chill run down his spine.
He had just negotiated business and conceded with a high schooler?!
Even more disturbing, Jiang Zhou didn’t feel like a high schooler at all.
The way he talked, the way he carried himself, that wasn’t something a teen could fake without years of social experience.
No wonder he believed Jiang Zhou was 26, just with a youthful face.
Now, thinking back… this guy was kind of terrifying.
“Manager Li, is something wrong?”
“No, not at all. I won’t bother you any further. Goodbye.” Li Kun snapped out of it and quickly left the Shangri-La.
Meanwhile, the classmates around Jiang Zhou had all fallen completely silent.
It was as if they had just witnessed something out of a fantasy novel.
They stood there, dazed, unable to process what they’d just seen.
Finally, when they came back to their senses.
They looked at one another, shock written all over their faces.
Jiang Zhou… was actually here doing business.
And it was a deal worth a million yuan!
No way.
This has to be fake, right?
Especially for those like Zheng Yu and Chu Yuwei, who came from well-off families.
They clearly saw the Walmart logo printed on the contract.
This was the world’s largest retail giant, founded in America.
They wouldn’t just casually make deals with random people.
Yet Jiang Zhou had been treated like a VIP by their manager.
All of this felt too surreal.
They were all just recent high school grads, so how was he out here casually discussing million-yuan deals with a Walmart manager?
And even making a million off of it?!
Zheng Yu’s face had gone pale.
He had just been drinking, pretending to be mature, spouting clichés about the future during the reunion.
But all of that — all his efforts — were crushed in a single phrase.
One million.
In this day and age, a million was a huge amount.
They couldn’t even imagine earning that much in a lifetime, yet Jiang Zhou had done it just like that.
By comparison, Zheng Yu now felt incredibly childish.
“You… what kind of business did you do to make a million?” Chu Yuwei looked at Jiang Zhou, her expression complicated.
“Just a small trade. Like I said. Selling socks, insoles, that kind of stuff. You wouldn’t understand. Don’t bother asking.”
“Oh.” Chu Yuwei slowly lowered her head.
Jiang Zhou glanced over at Zheng Yu, but Zheng Yu no longer had the courage to speak.
He didn’t even want to keep pretending anymore.
There was no joy in humiliating a bunch of clueless kids.
So Jiang Zhou just waved casually and left the Shangri-La without a backward glance.
“Jiang Zhou’s really something else…”
“Yeah, just graduated and already made a million. That’s insane.”
“No wonder he didn’t come to the reunion. He had real business to handle.”
A few girls suddenly looked starry-eyed.
They gazed at Jiang Zhou’s departing figure, biting their lips slightly.
Then came another long silence.
Everyone seemed lost in the moment, still processing it all.
“Sh-should we go?”
“Yeah… we’re done eating anyway, let’s go.”
Five minutes later, someone finally spoke up, and the rest followed.
Zheng Yu took a deep breath and slowly nodded.
He was still trying to convince himself.
So what if Jiang Zhou made a million?
Yuwei isn’t the type to chase money.
She clearly had no interest in him, otherwise, she wouldn’t have rejected his confession.
If anything, I had the better chance of winning her over.
