Chapter 4: I’m Really Here to Report!

“Stop right there!” Seeing Jiang Zhou ride past without a second glance, Chu Yuwei couldn’t help but shout.

She felt humiliated.

She was the school belle, the goddess.

How could someone ignore her?

But she didn’t believe Jiang Zhou had moved on.

She thought he was just trying to get her attention by pretending to be indifferent.

So she pedaled furiously, chasing after him.

Hearing the shouting behind him, Jiang Zhou glanced back slightly.

“Oh, it’s you, Chu Yuxun?”

“I’m Chu Yuwei!” she snapped.

Jiang Zhou rubbed his forehead. “Sorry, got you mixed up with a TV character.”

Chu Yuwei frowned. “What TV show?”

“Some drama called Meteor Shower. You wouldn’t get it. Anyway, I’ve got to go. Don’t follow me.”

“You—!”

At that moment, a tall boy from the group rode up next to them.

He looked at Jiang Zhou and said, “You’re shameless. Clearly you’re the one following us. Your house is in the opposite direction!”

Jiang Zhou thought for a second, then looked up at him. “You’re Murong Ahai?”

“I’m Zheng Yu, your class monitor!”

“School’s over. What use is a class monitor now?”

Zheng Yu looked at Chu Yuwei, furious. “Yuwei, don’t walk with someone like him. Let’s go a different way.”

Chu Yuwei ignored him. “Jiang Zhou, why are you following me?”

“You’re behind me. How is that me following you?”

“You are following me!”

Jiang Zhou sighed. “You’re really boring. Think what you want.”

Chu Yuwei was fuming. “Fine! Follow me all you want. I’m going to the police station. Let’s see if you dare keep going!”

“You’re going to the station? Why?”

“My dad’s the chief. He’s taking me out to eat. What, you scared now?”

Jiang Zhou gave a helpless smile.

What a self-absorbed goddess.

But wow, what a coincidence. That is my destination too.

Left with no choice, he followed her.

“Is he really following us?”

“Unbelievable. No shame at all.”

“He’s obsessed. No girl would like someone like that.”

The boys surrounding Chu Yuwei kept mocking him.

They, like her, assumed Jiang Zhou was trying to win her over.

Three minutes later, most of the journey was behind them.

Suddenly, Chu Yuwei stopped and looked at him.

She hadn’t expected him to really come this far.

If her father saw them together, she’d definitely get scolded.

“Jiang Zhou, can’t you just turn back?”

Jiang Zhou braked. “I’m going this way too. Why should I turn back?”

Chu Yuwei was starting to panic. “Fine! I’ll reconsider your confession! Just go back, okay?”

“Are you crazy? Your family owns the police station now?”

He didn’t have time for this nonsense. He sped off on his bike.

Seeing this, Chu Yuwei’s face went pale.

Is he really heading to the station to talk to my dad?

Is his love for me that intense?

She didn’t dare think too hard about it.

All she could do was chase after him.

As the school belle of Chengnan High, she never imagined this day would come,  that she’d be chasing after a guy’s back like this.

Ten minutes later — Linjiang Police Station.

The group of students parked their bikes, stunned.

Jiang Zhou actually got off and walked inside.

What kind of confession tactic is this?

Can’t win the girl? Go straight to her dad?

“He’s got guts, I’ll give him that!” Chu Yuwei stomped her foot and rushed in after him.

She caught him at the entrance, looking on the verge of tears.

“Jiang Zhou, what are you doing?!”

“I’m here to report something.”

Chu Yuwei stared at him. “Fine, you win! I’ll be your girlfriend, okay?!”

Jiang Zhou shook his head. “No thanks. I’m not interested.”

“You… what did you say?”

“I told you before. Let’s part ways peacefully. Why can’t you be good about it?”

“You!”

Jiang Zhou stepped past her and entered the front lobby.

Chu Yuwei panicked.

Even now, she believed Jiang Zhou was doing all this to get her attention.

Fine, she thought, you’ve got my attention.

But now that she’d accepted him, why was he still pushing her away?

Left with no choice, she composed herself and followed him in.

“Officer, I want to file a report.”

The on-duty cop looked up. “A report? About what?”

“The 523 Qi Family Massacre. I have a lead.”

The officer’s eyes widened.

“You mean the suspect Wang Dahai?”

Jiang Zhou nodded. “That’s right.”

“Hold on, kid. Wait here, I’ll go get the chief.”

“Thanks.”

The officer walked away, and Chu Yuwei immediately pulled at Jiang Zhou’s sleeve.

“What are you doing?!”

“Reporting a crime.”

Chu Yuwei bit her lip. “You know reporting a false case can get you detained, right? I already said I’ll date you, isn’t that enough?!”

Jiang Zhou was honestly surprised.

Girls like her are really something else.

When I chased her, she ignored me.

Now that I didn’t care anymore, she chased after me.

So playing hard to get actually works?

But Jiang Zhou’s only goal now was simple — make money.

And besides, he already knew that the person he’d end up marrying wouldn’t be Chu Yuwei.

“I really am here to report something. It’s got nothing to do with you.”

Chu Yuwei didn’t believe him. “If my dad finds out, he’ll kill you.”

Just then, a middle-aged officer walked into the lobby.

He had a square, serious face with a commanding presence.

The moment Chu Yuwei saw him, she lowered her head.

“Dad…”

The man was surprised. “Yuwei? You’re the one making a report?”

“N-no…”

Jiang Zhou stepped forward. “Uncle, I’m the one reporting something.”

“You?”

Seeing his daughter clinging to Jiang Zhou’s sleeve, the officer’s face darkened.

His daughter had always been well-behaved. He never thought she’d fall for a boy in school.

But as a police officer, he had a duty, especially when it came to the 523 case, a major crime in Linjiang.

The officer nodded. “Alright, young man. Come with me to the interview room.”
