Ambushing Cosmog from the Start - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Return to the Forbidden Zone
The Kunlun Mountains were perpetually shrouded in thick fog, obscuring the world behind the mist from the eyes of those living outside. A few daring individuals had attempted to venture inside, but very few ever made it out alive.
However, powerful beings had once claimed that the Kunlun Mountains were home to many formidable Dragon-type Pokémon. Because of this, people referred to the area as the Dragon’s Forbidden Zone.
The Pokémon within the Forbidden Zone rarely emerged, allowing the nearby residents to live in peace, until now.
Everything had changed.
The overwhelming pressure emanating from the Forbidden Zone was palpable to all the surrounding inhabitants. Then, a deafening roar erupted from within, causing the Pokémon owned by the locals to tremble in fear.
Multicolored lights pierced through the mist, faintly scattering into the outside world. The once-gray fog now seemed dyed in vibrant hues.
The next second, a blinding pillar of light shot down from the sky, striking a distant spot within the Kunlun Mountains.
……
The terrifying roars, the shifting mist, the earth-shaking beam of light—all of it signaled that something monumental was happening inside the Forbidden Zone.
News of the disturbance spread like wildfire.
Major factions quickly turned their attention toward the area.
Standing beside Chen Nian, Jiang Shuying’s eyes flickered with unease.
“Chen Nian… maybe we should leave. It seems like… something’s happening in the Forbidden Zone!”
“Yes, something is happening—and it’s something big.”
Chen Nian wore a faint, peculiar smile. Though his vision couldn’t penetrate the dense fog, he already had a guess as to what was unfolding inside.
That meteorite… it’s the source of this disaster.
He patted Jiang Shuying’s shoulder.
“From now on, stay in the hotel and don’t leave. I’m going back to the Forbidden Zone.”
Jiang Shuying’s eyes widened in shock.
“Y-you’re crazy! You’re going back now? What if something happens—”
“Don’t worry. Even if there is danger, nothing will harm me.”
“Come out, Dragonite!”
He tossed a Poké Ball, summoning his Dragonite. Just as he was about to mount it, Jiang Shuying rushed forward.
“I’m coming with you!”
“No. The Forbidden Zone is too dangerous right now. I might not be able to protect you. Stay here. I promise I’ll be fine.”
Seeing his refusal, Jiang Shuying understood. If she went, she would only hold him back.
Biting her lip lightly, she nodded.
“Fine… I’ll wait here for you. But Chen Nian, you have to come back. If something happens to you, I’ll—”
“Relax. Like I said, what’s happening in the Forbidden Zone might be deadly for others, but for me? It’s nothing.”
……
After reassuring her, Chen Nian mounted Dragonite and soared into the sky.
On the way to the Forbidden Zone, he noticed numerous powerful trainers heading toward it using various means.
Looks like the major factions have sensed the disturbance and sent people to investigate.
A cold smirk crossed his face.
The battle raging inside is on a whole other level. Weaklings won’t even survive the aftermath. I wonder how many will die in the Forbidden Zone this time.
After all, it’s not just that one causing the chaos…
……
The closer they got, the more uneasy Dragonite became. It could sense two immensely powerful beings clashing within its homeland.
Noticing its instinctive fear, Chen Nian patted its head.
“Don’t worry. I can handle this.”
“Speed up. Otherwise, your kin might get caught in the crossfire.”
“Roar!”
Dragonite accelerated, swiftly cutting through the thick fog until they re-entered the Forbidden Zone.
And there, the full scope of the Dragon’s Forbidden Zone unfolded before Chen Nian once more.
