Chapter 41: Has the Containment Assembly Ever Been Here?
“Gulp…”
The little demon swallowed hard. Even as a demon, he felt fear!
“Damn it!” Morgana’s furious curse echoed.
He had no choice but to continue crawling forward, his scalp tingling. Soon, the little demon reached a spacious room with outdated computer equipment. Large computers with reel-to-reel tape drives emitted static electricity as the reels spun incessantly. A nearby light bulb inexplicably switched on and off every ten seconds.
A massive CRT screen displayed a word in one of eight colors approximately every five seconds. The sequence read “clean,” “unclean,” “clean,” “clean,” “lost contact,” and “unclean.”
“Hiss… What do these words mean?” He wondered aloud.
“What do ‘unclean’ and ‘clean’ signify?” He inquired.
“This place feels strange, as if it has seen better days. Why is it deserted now?” The little demon questioned.
“Who knows? It’s as if we’ve stumbled upon an apocalyptic scenario!” He speculated.
“They left in haste; look at all the items scattered on the floor,” He observed.
…
“Queen…” the trembling little demon inquired cautiously.
“Bichi, go check the computer in the central area, the old, bulky one!” Morgana ordered.
The civilization in this world appeared less advanced than Earth’s current state. These outdated display screen computers have been obsolete since the 1950s. This fact was advantageous for Morgana. It meant she could freely exploit this world!
However, the absence of any indigenous creatures puzzled her. There wasn’t a single living being in sight. The little demon followed Morgana’s instructions and advanced. A massive glass window and an observation desk were at the room’s end.
From this desk, one could see strange conduits filled with blue liquid. Electric currents intermittently sparked along the pipes, with at least five empty and ruptured. In front of the observation window lay a keyboard with options on the screen, awaiting user input.
The available options included “Pipeline Status.” Upon selection, various pieces of information appeared: “Report,” “Status X-549,” “Status X-550,” “Evacuation Log,” “Codswallop,” “Agent █-██-█ Report,” and “Facility Fire Response Plan.”
A familiar and conspicuous symbol was in the middle of all the options: a black circle with three arrows—the Containment Assembly symbol.
“Shit! What am I seeing? The Containment Assembly? Oh my god! Does that mean the people from the Assembly have been here before?” He exclaimed.
“Unbelievable! Could the Containment Assembly have already obtained the key to this gateway to the otherworld?” The little demon pondered.
“That doesn’t make sense! The Containment Assembly is so powerful that they even managed to handle SCP-682. It’s impossible that they couldn’t handle this Red Sea Object!” he reasoned.
“Look at the information on the screen. Evacuation log? Fire response plan? Could it be that a massive fire forced the Containment Assembly to retreat?”
“The real danger isn’t the Red Sea Object itself, but the world it connects to. If even the Containment Assembly was forced to retreat, it’s beyond what an Euclid-class anomaly can achieve!”
…
Countless internet users were speculating.
The Giant Gorge…
General Duao’s expression turned grave. He considered some unfavorable possibilities.
The Containment Assembly has consistently demonstrated remarkable capabilities on Earth. Whether through its armed forces or its control over certain anomalous phenomena.
However, based on the information on the screen, it appeared that the Containment Assembly had reached this world and established a base there. But in the end, they chose to abandon it.
Strange!
Unexplainably strange!
Angel’s Herald…
The beautiful and holy Silver Winged Angel stared coldly at the sky. She had a strong desire to confront the Demon Queen Morgana. But a message from the Divine Kaisha instructed her to wait. Just moments ago, she was anxious for Morgana to obtain this key to the otherworld, but now… it seemed she could afford to wait.
…
“Bichi! Those damn bastards from the Containment Assembly have been here? And they even evacuated?”
Morgana was momentarily stunned, feeling a strange dilemma.
Atto, by her side, also felt a chill in his heart. Suddenly, he understood Morgana’s reasons for sending the little demon there. It seemed that the queen still cared about her well-being!
“Queen… What should I do next?” The trembling little demon asked hesitantly.
“Open those files for me immediately! Right now!! As a Queen, let me see what happened here that made the people from the Containment Assembly flee! The things the Containment Assembly can do, I can do as well. And the things they can’t do, I can do even better!” Morgana grinned maliciously.
She couldn’t let countless resources from unknown worlds slip through her fingers!
