I Am the Fated Villain - Chapter 278
Chapter 278: Gu Xian’er’s initiative, a dragonfly touch
Rumble!
The divine mist bloomed, the void split, and a tremendous chasm appeared, showcasing the unparalleled force of this palm strike.
When Gu Changge resided in the Heavenly Star Realm, he seized the fortune of the Human Ancestor and merged it with the Nirvana Pure Green Lotus, unleashing the power of a grand world from every single cell.
Each of his sixty trillion cells resembled a reawakened ancient realm.
Such power was truly astonishing.
Gu Changge’s palm descended like a celestial emperor’s, shrouded in a myriad of divine hues enveloping Song Fan and the others.
There was a soft thud!
In the next instant, blood blossomed in the area, saturating the air with its rich scent.
Several individuals couldn’t even utter a scream before being swiftly struck down, their bodies and souls annihilated.
“These individuals meet their end for uttering baseless accusations; their demise is just,” remarked Gu Changge. “Even Zi Yang kindly pleaded for their forgiveness earlier…”
“In Gu’s view, their demise was inevitable.”
“However, I believe after today, some will recall this lesson. Should they dare approach Xian’er again, they shall suffer a similar fate.”
With his palm closed, Gu Changge glanced intently at Heavenly King Zi Yang before offering a faint smile.
Slapping a few young prodigies to death, especially with a quasi-candidate among them, seemed akin to crushing ants for him, displaying little concern.
Though not overly loud, his words seemed directed toward the cultivators observing from afar.
There, towering mountains stood one after another, their peaks veiled in colourful and white mists, akin to an immortal’s sanctum.
Many young prodigies had rushed over upon hearing the commotion, bearing witness to the events unfolding before them.
At this moment, as Gu Changge’s words reached the ears of many, an unsettling chill crept down their spines. The bone-chilling coldness that gripped their limbs and bones was undeniably eerie.
Such was the terrifying might of Gu Changge; even within the confines of the True Immortal Academy, his strength was unparalleled. Though they were all disciples of the same academy, he showed no mercy, issuing commands with unwavering decisiveness.
They were well aware that the elders must have taken notice of the recent events, yet none dared to intervene and halt Gu Changge’s actions. What did this signify? It meant that even the elders harbored an incomprehensible fear of Gu Changge and were reluctant to provoke him easily.
For the few disciples who met their demise, it was clear that they had brought their misfortune upon themselves. It was one thing to offend someone else, but to offend Gu Changge? It was akin to courting disaster. They had witnessed it firsthand, a clear case of a long-lived man inviting his demise.
Although they were unaware of Zi Yang’s involvement in the events, Gu Changge’s disregard for Heavenly Monarch Zi Yang today would undoubtedly spread among the disciples. If Zi Yang’s reputation suffered a blow, it would inevitably lead to a confrontation with Gu Changge within the True Immortal Academy.
As peers of equal rank, Zi Yang’s actions today did not display fear of Gu Changge. However, it was likely that, for a time to come, Heavenly King Zi Yang would find it difficult to hold his head high among the candidate disciples.
Even though Jin Chan harbored fear towards Gu Changge, he faced him with dignity in their confrontation, ultimately meeting defeat.
“You’re too reckless. How could you just go around killing people in the True Immortal Academy?” Gu Xian’er hadn’t anticipated Gu Changge acting so decisively. At this moment, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of worry for him. After all, this wasn’t just any place; it was the True Immortal Academy. If the factions backing these disciples or the elders decided to lay blame, Gu Changge could find himself in serious trouble.
“Shut it,” Gu Changge retorted coldly. “I’ll deal with you later.”
Despite his smile, Gu Changge’s tone held no warmth as he glanced at her.
“But—” Gu Xian’er began, her anger mingled with a hint of hurt. She had only been concerned for him. What had she done to deserve being treated like this? He was even threatening her with retribution.
“Instead, I should thank Young Master Changge for intervening and dealing with these True Immortal Academy scum for me,” chimed in Zi Yang Heavenly King, finally speaking up. He smiled faintly as if Gu Changge’s earlier words meant nothing to him.
Of course, Zi Yang understood perfectly well that Gu Changge’s words were directed at him.
Gu Changge had already seen through Zi Yang’s schemes and warned him not to approach Gu Xian’er. However, Zi Yang paid no heed. The moment he glimpsed that shattered future, it was inevitable that he would find himself on the opposite side of Gu Changge, becoming his adversary.
With a casual smile, Gu Changge remarked, “If Heavenly King Zi Yang believes so, then Gu can rest assured.”
Soon, silence reclaimed the area. Though Zi Yang felt a deep gloom, his composure remained intact. Yet, beneath the surface, he harbored a newfound understanding of Gu Changge’s formidable indifference.
Regardless, the fact remained: Gu Changge had shown him no regard, and word of this incident would spread swiftly. This public humiliation caused Zi Yang to lose face and instilled a greater fear of Gu Changge.
Adding to his unease was Gu Xian’er’s unwavering trust in Gu Changge, a sight that only deepened Zi Yang’s apprehension. Zi Yang’s mood grew even heavier when he considered the tragic fate that awaited Gu Xian’er in the future.
With a swift flicker of purple mist, Zi Yang wasted no time. Without pause, he vanished into the depths of the academy.
Deep within the academy, within the jade tower, divine islands hung suspended in the air, cloaked in swirling chaotic aura.
Many of the elders had personally witnessed the recent events, and each wore a different expression on their face as they mulled over what they had seen.
“While Heavenly King Zi Yang was once the most formidable figure in the upper realm, his disdain for Gu Changge is evident. Today’s incident, though seemingly rational, conceals a simmering patience. Such a mindset can only be deemed fitting for the heir of the purple mansion,” remarked one elder.
“Indeed, had it been anyone else, they might have challenged Gu Changge to a duel to the death,” added another.
“Speaking of which, Gu Changge’s strength and sharpness suggest he’s prepared to dominate all the geniuses of this era. I wonder if anyone among his peers can stand against him,” pondered a third.
“After Jin Chan’s defeat, he made no further moves until his arrival at the True Immortal Academy. It seems he intends to seek out the Immaculate Buddha robes… Rumors suggest they’re here, but the exact location remains unknown,” chimed in another elder.
Amidst their discussion, they made passing mention of the disciples who had fallen under Gu Changge’s forceful suppression, showing little concern. After all, the True Immortal Academy was a place where strength ruled over weakness.
Meanwhile, a colorful haze danced around a lofty mountain peak, and white divine mist enveloped the surroundings. Gu Xian’er gazed at the silent and aloof Gu Changge before her with a hint of dissatisfaction.
“Why did you threaten me earlier?” she questioned.
Gu Xian’er couldn’t understand why Gu Changge was so angry; she hadn’t done anything wrong. Baffled and without knowing the reason, she was bullied by several disciples as soon as she entered the mountain gate. She was rescued from the ordeal thanks to Heavenly King Zi Yang’s intervention.
Now, she couldn’t help but suspect that Zi Yang had orchestrated the situation deliberately—a self-styled “hero saving the damsel in distress.” Did Heavenly King Zi Yang have ulterior motives toward her? Was he attempting to use her as a pawn in his schemes against Gu Changge?
Despite Gu Changge’s anger, he couldn’t simply ignore her, leaving her to fend for herself without explanation. And yet, he remained tight-lipped about the whole affair.
It was as if he had come to the mountain gate for a stroll, merely responsible for guiding her inside.
“Gu Xian’er, are you truly foolish or simply pretending?” Gu Changge finally halted and spoke, his tone icy, causing Gu Xian’er to freeze momentarily, a tinge of fear creeping in.
“Gu Changge, don’t think you can keep bullying me and calling me stupid whenever you please,” Gu Xian’er retorted defiantly, though her courage wavered slightly.
“Then it seems you truly are foolish. Where did your cleverness vanish to?” Gu Changge turned back, his gaze piercing as he spoke indifferently.
“If I hadn’t intervened today, would you have continued to thank Heavenly King Zi Yang? Would you have thanked him for rescuing you?” he continued flatly.
“Gu Changge, what are you insinuating? That’s preposterous,” Gu Xian’er protested, feeling Gu Changge underestimated her intelligence. Did he truly believe she couldn’t see through such an obvious charade?
“Oh? If you were aware, why did you let those individuals off?” Gu Changge questioned evenly. “This is the True Immortal Academy, not a place for you to show mercy.”
“But you’re here,” Gu Xian’er muttered, but sensing Gu Changge’s displeasure, she hastily changed the subject. “How did you know I came to the True Immortal Academy? And why would Heavenly King Zi Yang orchestrate such a spectacle? I hadn’t even met him before.”
This was also a puzzle she couldn’t unravel.
“How I knew you came to the True Immortal Academy is irrelevant,” Gu Changge replied coolly. “Just remember, Zi Yang has ulterior motives. Perhaps he seeks to win your favor and then wed into the Gu family.”
Gu Changge’s expression returned to its usual calm demeanor with a shake of his head. He worried Gu Xian’er might be too naive to see through Zi Yang’s deceitful tactics.
But since Gu Xian’er spoke up, Gu Changge naturally didn’t want to dwell on it further. Instead, he decided to have someone investigate Heavenly King Zi Yang.
Did he orchestrate a “hero saving the beauty” scenario for no reason? Was he coveting Gu Xian’er’s affections? Or did he have another agenda? Gu Changge sensed a hint of opportunism emanating from Zi Yang, though the system hadn’t mentioned it.
“Hmph, Gu Changge, don’t spout nonsense about son-in-laws. I have no interest in that type of guy,” Gu Xian’er retorted, her tone firm. “And don’t think I’ve forgotten—you were worried about me just now.”
But Gu Xian’er found Gu Changge’s casual tone unsettling. Did he truly see her as someone who would easily trust others? And why would she ever be interested in Heavenly King Zi Yang? Confusion and disgust clouded her thoughts as she pondered Zi Yang’s true intentions.
“Gu Xian’er, you’re quite adept at making a fool of yourself. Zi Yang Heavenly Monarch is merely using you to achieve his own ends. He’s probably just trying to use you to get to me…” Gu Changge’s retort was brusque and dismissive.
“Gu Changge…you jerk…” Gu Xian’er’s voice faltered, caught off guard by his unyielding attitude. Her tone dripped with dissatisfaction. “When will you drop this tough and condescending act?”
It was clear that he cared about her, yet he needed to hide behind layers of excuses, afraid of revealing his true intentions to her. This excessive behavior left Gu Xian’er feeling frustrated and confused.
“I think you haven’t been beaten in a while, so you’re itching for a fight…” Gu Changge’s expression remained calm, but his words trailed off.
Gu Xian’er’s face flushed with anger, and without knowing where she found the courage, she suddenly leaned in closer.
…
Gu Changge felt her lips graze his like a dragonfly—refreshing, cool, soft, and sweet. Even he, with his usual demeanor, couldn’t help but freeze slightly at the unexpected sensation.
“This girl…” Gu Changge sighed inwardly as he watched Gu Xian’er’s flushed face retreat in embarrassment. For a moment, he was at a loss for words. It was the first time something had caught him off guard like this. In his eyes, Gu Xian’er’s bold action was already quite daring.
“Perhaps it’s time to reconsider my attitude towards her, but if I show any kindness, she might take it as encouragement…” Gu Changge’s thoughts raced, and he quickly regained his composure. But soon, a cold determination flickered in his eyes.
“Zi Yang Heavenly Monarch, you dare to covet what’s mine…”
…
“It’s over, it’s over…” Gu Xian’er, now transformed into a divine haze, appeared on another mountain peak, her face resembling a boiled prawn.
Flustered and nervous, she didn’t know how to face Gu Changge in the future. What had come over her? Where had she found the audacity to act like that?
Gu Xian’er’s mind was blank, and regret washed over her. “That wretched Gu Changge is probably laughing at me now. How will I ever face him again?”
She imagined Gu Changge’s smug look, having gotten the upper hand yet again. It filled her with indignation and helplessness.
“Better to steer clear of him for now, to avoid being caught and ridiculed,” Gu Xian’er muttered to herself, her distressed and regretful expression evident on her small face. With determined steps, she headed towards the compound where her Master, the Great Elder, resided.
Gu Xian’er knew that the Great Elder was at the True Immortal Academy as she approached. Upon arriving, her priority was to locate him.
Meanwhile, within the depths of the True Immortal Academy, no tranquillity could be found. Towering mountains stretched as far as the eye could see, some shrouded in pitch-black darkness, others radiating a crimson haze or exuding a purple aura. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth permeated the atmosphere, creating a scene akin to a worldly paradise.
In one particular area, a strange stone bathed in myriad hues trembled lightly under the divine light streaming down from countless channels above. The stone, standing over half a person’s height, was adorned with intricate patterns and runes, shimmering with brilliance.
A majestic waterfall of aura cascaded down. Its continuous flow has sustained over countless years. Beneath it, numerous beasts and birds lay prostrate, their presence adding to the solemn atmosphere.
“By my calculations, it’s time for it to emerge. We’ve waited for this moment for far too long,” one figure remarked with anticipation.
“Indeed, this Nine Heavens Wonder Stone, nurtured over countless years within the True Immortal Academy, is finally due to reveal its secrets,” another agreed.
“It’s been quite the journey. I wonder what kind of prodigy will emerge. Perhaps a true immortal descendant?” pondered another, their excitement palpable.
Various ancient beings stood vigilantly nearby, cloaked in chaotic aura and clad in ancient attire. Their eyes were fixed on the stone with fervent anticipation, akin to gazing upon a supreme immortal treasure.
“In the face of such an extraordinary phenomenon, the True Immortal Academy would not be complete without this wondrous stone,” one declared, their gaze unwavering as they awaited the imminent revelation.
Buzz!
At that moment, the peculiar stone seemed to sense it was being observed from outside. Brilliant light surged toward the sky as if attempting to break the seal above on its own accord.
One of the runes on the stone appeared to come to life, hovering in the void with an astonishing immortal intent. The entire area seemed to transform into a realm of soaring immortals.
“Look! Look!” exclaimed the astonished old antiquities, their excitement palpable as they witnessed the stone’s imminent emergence.
Numerous figures appeared on high mountains outside the designated area, drawn by the news of the stone’s awakening. Many were aware of the True Immortal Academy’s origins and the significance of the peculiar stone.
“Could it be the True Immortal’s descendant fallen from the heavens?” speculated a heavenly phoenix lady, her figure adorned with phoenix wings, her eyes ablaze with flickering runes as she attempted to peer through the stone’s mysteries.
“What are your thoughts, Phoenix Maiden?” inquired a divine martial man clad in golden armour, his five-coloured eyes gleaming with divine power. He was none other than Emperor Ying’s son from the Heavenly Emperor Mountain.
The Heavenly Phoenix Maiden shook her head, “Elusive and enigmatic.”
“Rumor has it that the Phoenix Lady is the Immortal Phoenix reincarnated. Is there truly something you cannot perceive?” Emperor Ying’s son pressed, a smile playing on his lips.
The Heavenly Phoenix Maiden fell silent at his words, choosing not to engage further.
Buzz!
Suddenly, a golden passage materialized in the sky, and a young girl in white descended from above. She appeared to be around seven or eight years old, her presence immaculate. Her silky black hair and starry-sky eyes captivated all who beheld her.
Seeing the white-clad girl, the old antiquities bowed respectfully. “Greetings, Star Ancestor!”
“Could it be…” murmured many geniuses, recognizing the girl’s identity despite her youthful appearance. Though she seemed young, her existence spanned countless ages.
