Chapter 38: The bloodline trembles! False God Power
Su Mo followed the Crescent Queen into the empty temple as they made their way inside. Soon, they arrived at the centre of the temple. The Crescent Queen was dressed in pure white clothes, giving her an air of holiness. This was just one aspect of her being a holy woman. She began to pray, and as she did, the temple lit up with a pure, white holy light that illuminated the entire hall.
Despite the temple’s simple layout, with walls made of a special metal infused with magical substances and no other decorations, a crescent moon could be seen suspended in mid-air, just like a moon rising into the sky. It symbolised the Crescent Goddess, one of the Seven Moons Goddesses well-known in the Abyss.
As the holy light shone, the temple’s interior took on a sense of endlessness and borderlessness, giving an incomparable feeling of emptiness. The crescent moon in the sky reflected the afterglow of the day, adding to the mystical ambience. The Crescent Queen continued to pray devoutly, standing still in her pure white attire.
Before long, a change occurred in the temple, even though the interior remained empty. An inexplicable sacred aura made everything around, even the air itself, feel alive.
Su Mo carefully considered the situation, pondering, “The eyes of the Goddess of the Crescent have descended upon me.” He suppressed his thoughts and ensured that his Phantom bloodline remained well concealed. It was his first time appearing officially before the scrutiny of a Heavenly God, but this time, he didn’t appear as a Demon God but as a human Earl. Su Mo was confident that he could evade detection from the other party.
Despite his status as a Demon God, Su Mo’s reputation had not yet reached the heavens. Even the Goddess of the new moon was likely unaware of his quiet existence in the Abyss. It made him wonder who had facilitated his rapid ascension to the rank of Demon God.
The Goddess gazed upon Su Mo silently and even unnoticed by the Queen of the Crescent Moon.
The Goddess continued to pray, and Su Mo noticed, although her expression did not indicate her thoughts. She gazed at him for an extended period before eventually speaking. “Su Mo, the Goddess will bestow strength upon you. Pray with all your might and see if you can communicate with the Goddess,” the Crescent Queen received the oracle and relayed the message to Su Mo.
As he prayed with all his strength, a magnificent door opened, revealing a sacred place filled with endless light. A force surged out from the door and soon entered Su Mo’s body. With this power came a sense that his phantom bloodline was ready to awaken. Su Mo knew it was not yet the right time and forcibly suppressed his desire to awaken the phantom bloodline.
After twenty years of evolution, his phantom bloodline had reached an incomparably high level. Still, it was now facing a bottleneck that could only be overcome by using the power of the gods of the heavens.
Although, demon gods and heavenly spirits were inherently opposed to each other. Therefore, which heavenly spirit would be willing to lend Su Mo the core power needed for him to analyse? The Goddess of the Crescent Moon was the breakthrough Su Mo had been searching for.
As soon as he absorbed the power of the Crescent Goddess, Su Mo’s aura constantly improved. It was only a short time before he reached the Forbidden Curse level, then Legendary, and eventually, the Sanctuary level. The Crescent Queen was surprised by the amount of power Su Mo had absorbed from the Crescent Goddess, considering it was their first communication.
The power of the Goddess of the Crescent Moon continued to flow into Su Mo’s body, and eventually, his aura rose to the level of a demigod in a single leap. This was not due to Su Mo’s power but rather the power of the Crescent Goddess.
The gods in the heavenly realm often solved problems by temporarily bestowing power upon their holy sons or holy maidens in this way. The purer and more pious the soul, it could bear more power. Ordinary people were unable to carry any power of God whatsoever.
The improvements to Su Mo’s aura didn’t end there. It grew stronger. Eventually, he reached the peak of the demigod level, almost achieving the level of false gods. False gods were only one step away from becoming true gods.
On the continent of the gods, whenever a demon god would descend, they would often be suppressed to the level of a false god. Not far away, the Crescent Queen’s pretty face was filled with surprise.
She never expected Su Mo could possess so much power from the Crescent Goddess. As a saint herself, she could barely withstand the power of a demon god. Even though the duration was short, the first time Su Mo communicated with the Goddess of the Crescent, his power was almost as high as that of a false god!
Finally, Su Mo’s breath trembled. His power had reached the level of a false god, but it quickly faded away as the Crescent Goddess withdrew her power. The Crescent Queen was uncertain whether to be happy or worried.
Su Mo carried too much power, suggesting his soul purity could have been more generally high. The fact that he communicated smoothly with the Crescent Goddess during their first encounter was surprising.
It was rare for someone to be able to carry the power of a false god during their first communication. Su Mo’s situation was a temptation that the Goddess of the Crescent Moon found hard to resist!
